Story
Meet Chelsea Breed: Chihuahua / Rat Terrier Mix Sex: Female DOB: 9/3/2025 Weight: 15 Pounds Health: Healthy and growing Chelsea is a bright, lively little girl with curious eyes and a heart that is already learning how to love deeply. At six months old, she is right in that beautiful in-between stage — still very much a puppy, but beginning to show the loyal, devoted companion she is going to become. She is small but sturdy, alert but affectionate, and ready to grow alongside a family who will guide her with patience and care. Personality Chelsea is playful, intelligent, and wonderfully people-focused. She loves interactive play, enjoys learning new things, and thrives when she feels included. At first she may take a moment to observe — typical of her mix — but once she feels safe, her affectionate and devoted side shines. She bonds closely and will happily follow her person from room to room, always wanting to be near. With consistency and reassurance, she will grow into a loyal little shadow who adores her family. Breed Info Chihuahua / Rat Terrier mixes are smart, alert, and emotionally bonded dogs. They tend to be quick learners who respond beautifully to positive reinforcement. This mix often combines the terrier’s playful spark and curiosity with the Chihuahua’s loyalty and attachment. They do best in homes that provide routine, mental stimulation, and daily companionship. While small in size, they require engagement and structure to stay balanced and confident. Owner Responsibilities Chelsea is still young and forming habits. She will need continued house training, socialization, and positive reinforcement to help her mature into a confident adult dog. Daily walks, play sessions, and mental enrichment are important. Small breed mixes are often underestimated — but they need just as much guidance and emotional investment as larger dogs. Consistency now will shape her entire future. &#226&#154&#160&#239&#184&#143 Things to Consider Before adopting Chelsea, ask yourself: Is your housing pet-approved and stable long term? If you move, will she move with you? Do you have time daily for interaction, play, and bonding? Are you financially prepared for routine vet care, food, training, and emergencies? Are you ready for a 12–15 year commitment — not just the puppy stage? Adoption means forever, through all life changes. Vet Care Even though Chelsea is healthy, establishing care with your own veterinarian immediately after adoption is essential. This ensures her vaccination schedule stays on track, her growth is monitored, and you build a long-term health partnership for her lifetime. Understanding the 3-3-3 Rule The first 3 days Chelsea may feel unsure or overstimulated as she adjusts. The first 3 weeks she will begin learning your routine and understanding expectations. By 3 months, with patience and consistency, she will feel secure and deeply bonded. Transition takes time. Stability builds trust. Why Chelsea? Chelsea is a bright little soul ready to choose her person and love them wholeheartedly. She is playful, intelligent, and deeply loyal once she feels safe. If you are ready to invest the time and commitment into shaping a young dog’s future, Chelsea will reward you with years of devotion, companionship, and joyful little footsteps following you everywhere.   If you are interested in adopting this amazing dog, please follow the link https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions and fill out an application  Thank you for choosing Ozzie and Friends Rescue. Story
Meet Gus Breed: Pug / Chihuahua Mix Sex: Male DOB: 12/2/2025 Weight: 6 Pounds Health: Healthy and growing Gus is a joyful, wiggly little boy with expressive eyes and a personality bigger than his small body. He combines the affectionate silliness of a Pug with the alert intelligence of a Chihuahua. At three months old, he is in that magical puppy phase — full of curiosity, playfulness, and attachment. Personality Gus is playful, affectionate, and eager to connect. He loves toys, enjoys exploring, and lights up when he receives attention. After playtime, he happily melts into cuddles. He is forming his confidence now, and with steady guidance, he will grow into a loyal, devoted little companion who bonds closely with his family. Breed Info This mix often produces dogs who are loving, expressive, and people-focused. They can be alert and protective of their home, and they thrive in environments where they feel included and secure. Moderate exercise, daily engagement, and positive training are key to raising a well-balanced adult. Owner Responsibilities Gus needs consistent house training, structured socialization, and daily engagement. Puppies require supervision and patience. He will also need routine vet care and breed-aware monitoring as he grows. Raising a puppy is hands-on work — it is rewarding, but it requires time and dedication. &#226&#154&#160&#239&#184&#143 Things to Consider Are you ready for interrupted sleep during potty training? Is your landlord aware and approving? Are you financially prepared for vaccinations, neutering, food, and potential emergencies? Will Gus still have a home if you move or your schedule changes? Puppies are a long-term commitment, not a temporary stage. Vet Care Even though Gus is healthy, establishing care with your own veterinarian immediately ensures proper growth tracking, vaccination continuation, and long-term health planning. The 3-3-3 Rule The first 3 days he may be unsure or overly excited. The first 3 weeks he will start settling into your schedule. The first 3 months he will fully trust and attach to you. Consistency builds security. Why Gus? Gus will grow into someone’s loyal little shadow. With love, patience, and structure, he will offer joy, companionship, and devotion for years to come. Story
Suzy is currently being fostered in Houston, TX and can be transported out of state to an approved adopter. She will be on a spay/neuter contract and will need to be spayed once she is 6 months of age. Our adoption fee is $575 and includes transportation and all vetting. Suzy is a 5 month old chihuahua mix that was rescued from the streets of Cleveland, TX when her mom had her and her siblings. Since then she has been nothing but a happy, healthy puppy! She loves to play with other dogs and her toys and has tons of energy. She is still learning how to 'dog' and will need an owner that understands the commitment of training and socializing a young puppy. She is crate trained and getting the hang of potty training. She is cat, dog and kid friendly. We think Suzy would do best in any home. Please apply here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DDAR/Dog
