Story
Beautiful Mina is looking for her happily ever after. She is a 3-year-old, 16-pound, Rat Terrier/ Chihuahua/Corgi mix? Mina was 5 days away from delivering her 8 puppies when she was left on our front porch. Thankfully she was able to give birth in comfort in a loving foster home. FOSTERING SAVES LIVES! Her puppies are now weaned and it is her turn to go to her forever home. Mina is a very sweet girl and is enjoying life at the sanctuary. She loves to sit on the lobby bench and people watch. She will put her paws on your lap, for permission to jump up. She is BOSSY with other dogs and is best suited to a one dog home She is ready to “GO” when she sees you get your keys! She does not like being left alone and would do best in a home where someone is with her most of the time. She is well behaved and a great travel size, she will be welcome wherever you go! Mina is doing well going outside to potty but may need some reinforcement with housetraining. She may need leash training. She needs a securely fenced yard as she is a climber. Mina is scheduled to be spayed but we are looking for her home now. She is current on vaccinations and microchipped. If you are ready to fill your home with happiness and joy, Mina has a tail that wags nonstop! Apply today! Story
Maggie is a truly special girl who just needs a little extra love and care to help her blossom! At 3 years old, she's at a wonderful age where she can still learn and adapt to a new environment, especially with someone who can provide her the patience she needs. She weighs 11.8 pounds and we think a Rat Terrier mix ?. Her background of being left abandoned in a carrier shows that she hasn't had the best start, but it's heartwarming to hear that she's starting to come out of her shell and enjoy her surroundings in the sanctuary. With gentle encouragement and a loving approach, she will surely thrive in her forever home. Her friendly nature with other small dogs and her enjoyment of gentle play, like chase and pounce, are fantastic indicators that she will fit in well with the right family. It's also great that she's learning to use potty pads and how to follow commands, which means she's already making strides in her training. Since she needs leash training and is getting used to walks in a stroller, it's clear that she'll need someone who can continue her training and socialization. A quiet adult home would likely provide the calm and stable environment she needs to continue to grow and feel secure. Maggie is spayed, currently vaccinated and microchipped. If you're considering adopting Maggie, you'll be making a huge difference in her life. She deserves all the love and care that comes with a forever home. Don't hesitate to apply if you feel that you can be that gentle caregiver for her! Story
Sweet, smart, and oh-so-cute, Sissy is the whole package! Sissy is a 2-year-old bundle of love who is eager to find her fur-ever family. She is a social girl who is quick to make herself comfy in your lap. She lives for attention and is happiest when she can be by your side. Sissy is fully grown and weighs around 17lbs. Sissy was found as a stray in a rural part of the county and brought to our local animal shelter. She was never claimed by an owner, so one of the shelter volunteers offered to foster her for us and she has been loving being in a foster home ever since. Sissy is a wonderful moderate-energy companion who has the energy to motivate you for daily walks but also values her cuddles on the couch. She walks well on a leash and is a polite girl around the house. She has learned that toys can be fun to chase and if she sits she can get a yummy treat. She would love a family where she can get lots of attention and enjoy her daily strolls around the neighborhood. Sissy has done okay living with other small dogs but can be territorial of her people towards other dogs. She seems to do best with submissive male dogs. She could do well living with other dogs with proper supervision and management, but she also would thrive as an only dog. Sissy has done well with the cats in her foster home and could do well living with dog-savvy cats in her new home. Sissy would do best in an adult-only home. Sissy has been doing great with her housetraining in her foster home. She has also done well being crated overnight and when her foster parents aren't home. Sissy seems like she could do okay living in an apartment. Sissy is such an affectionate girl and she can't wait to be adopted. If you think she might be the pup for you, submit an adoption application today!   Sissy's adoption fee is $300.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website  (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. October 19, 2024, 12:52 pm

Story
Ginny  is super sweet and playful, especially with other dogs. She's a little skittish at first and takes a little while to warm up, but once she's comfortable with you, she is sweet, a champion snuggler, and an all-around great companion. Energy Level?  Medium House trained?  Yes Describe how they are on a leash. Does well on a leash. Likes to stop and smell all the smells. Describe how they are with other dogs?     Ginny plays nice with other dogs and has lived with other dogs; however, she would do well as your one and only.   She loves all the attention. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  Ginny has been in home with a dog-savvy cat and did very well. Commands they know?  She comes when called.  What are their favorite things?  Playing with other dogs, chewing on toys and treats, and snuggling with her people. She also enjoys being outside and exploring our backyard. What do they need to work on?   Ginny  is still learning what's okay and not okay to chew. She'll need lots of toys that are safe for chewing and some patience and understanding while she figures it out.  How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  She has been alone for up to 8 hours and has been okay. She may howl briefly as we leave but then quiets down. She is generally happy in her crate and has a good view of all her foster fur siblings. Where do they sleep?  In a small crate in our bedroom. She sleeps well through the night and enjoys a morning snuggle in our bed when there's time. What is their ideal home?   Ginny 's perfect home includes at least one other similarly-sized dog because doggy playtime is her favorite thing. She'll need a family who can give her some time and space to get comfortable, as she can be pretty skittish initially. She'll also need patience as she learns what's okay to chew and what's not. Once she's comfortable with you and all settled in, she is an excellent companion and will reward you with epic snuggles and much love. Ginny should be in an adult only home.
