Story
Have you ever seen a dog that was just like a radiant sunbeam in a jar (or in this case, the adorable body of a black and white rat terrier)? This type of dog is extremely rare, but we at Muttville have been graced by the presence of just such a pup – meet Horatio, the mutt with the sunniest disposition we have seen in some time. Despite being picked up as a stray, Horatio seems perfectly thrilled with his lot in life, there is simply no place that he’d rather be than right where he is. Horatio is a sociable guy, easily chumming it up with the other canines and seeking pets and cuddles from the volunteers. He’s also incredibly treat-motivated, so rest assured, if you have treats anywhere in your house, he WILL find them. Horatio is on the more active side for a senior mutt, so he is more than willing to accompany you on longer walks or adventures, should you need some inspiration. With a carefree and happy-go-lucky doggy smile, inquisitive ears perked so he never misses the chance to have fun, and a just effusive halo of positivity, we are certain that Horatio won’t be around long, so if you’re looking for a constant reminder that everything is awesome, come by and meet him today!

Story
Meet Parker: The Former 'Street Dog' Turned Snugglebug! For 12 + long years, Parker roamed the streets of Pittsburg, known only as 'the street dog.' No one stepped in to help&#194&#151until he was an old little guy. He survived on the kindness of one woman who fed him every day, and when she sadly passed away, Parker would sit outside her home for hours, waiting.Thankfully, one of our incredible volunteers stepped up to save him, and now, Parker is finally experiencing the love and comfort he always deserved. This sweet senior boy has learned to love the indoor life&#194&#151snuggling under the covers, lounging in the sun, and being pampered. He's an easygoing, happy couch potato who just wants a warm spot and a loving human to call his own.✅ Great with dogs & cats (he even hung out with the cats during fireworks!)✅ Loves to snuggle and play with toys, will be your best cuddle buddy✅ Mostly house-trained (may need a little patience in a new home and transitioning )✅ The perfect companion for someone looking for a low-maintenance, loving dogParker's story is one of resilience, love, and second chances. Could you be the one to give him the forever home he's waited 12 +years for? Every senior dog deserves to have their own family to love them through their senior years. We think he is likely 12-13 years old. Parker is about 15lbs and we believe he is a Rat Terrier Chi mix. We feel he would do great with gentle older kids as he warms up to everyone who gives him a little love and attention. Meet Hopper ❤️‍🔥🐾 Hopper is a 5yr old, 11lb, Rat Terrier/mix. Hopper is a super sweet boy. Hopper is an active fella, that likes to go for walks, likes to run and play with toys, and likes to play with other dogs. Even though Hopper has old fractures on his hind legs, that doesn’t slow him down, he is faster than any other dog here at the rescue and loves to run around and play. Hopper gets along with all dogs of all sizes and ages, but likes to chase chickens. Hopper also loves to be held and loved on. Hopper may not know many commands, but that is ok, he is treat and love motivated and will come running as soon as you call him. Love and affection is what he craves. Hopper is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date on his rabies vaccine. If you are interested in meeting Hopper, please fill out an application at www.broketailrescue.org.

Story
Ginny  is super sweet and playful, especially with other dogs. She's a little skittish at first and takes a little while to warm up, but once she's comfortable with you, she is sweet, a champion snuggler, and an all-around great companion. Energy Level?  Medium House trained?  Yes Describe how they are on a leash. Does well on a leash. Likes to stop and smell all the smells. Describe how they are with other dogs?     Ginny plays nice with other dogs and has lived with other dogs; however, she would do well as your one and only.   She loves all the attention. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  Ginny has been in home with a dog-savvy cat and did very well. Commands they know?  She comes when called.  What are their favorite things?  Playing with other dogs, chewing on toys and treats, and snuggling with her people. She also enjoys being outside and exploring our backyard. What do they need to work on?   Ginny  is still learning what's okay and not okay to chew. She'll need lots of toys that are safe for chewing and some patience and understanding while she figures it out.  How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  She has been alone for up to 8 hours and has been okay. She may howl briefly as we leave but then quiets down. She is generally happy in her crate and has a good view of all her foster fur siblings. Where do they sleep?  In a small crate in our bedroom. She sleeps well through the night and enjoys a morning snuggle in our bed when there's time. What is their ideal home?   Ginny 's perfect home includes at least one other similarly-sized dog because doggy playtime is her favorite thing. She'll need a family who can give her some time and space to get comfortable, as she can be pretty skittish initially. She'll also need patience as she learns what's okay to chew and what's not. Once she's comfortable with you and all settled in, she is an excellent companion and will reward you with epic snuggles and much love. Ginny should be in an adult only home. Monica is an 10-year-old female dog, weighing about 16.5 pounds (as of July 2025). She exhibits a friendly attitude towards other dogs but shows a considerable amount of shyness around people. Her small size and gentle nature make her well-suited to a quiet home where she can slowly build trust at her own pace. Story
Rachel is an 10-year-old (as of July 2025) female dog, light in build at around 13 pounds. Similar to Ross, she is quite sociable with other dogs but notably shy and apprehensive around people. Her friendliness towards canines suggests she would do well in a home with other pets, where she can feel more at ease and less isolated. For Rachel, a calm and stable environment with patient and gentle owners would be ideal, allowing her the time and space to overcome her initial fears and gradually become more comfortable with human companionship. Her loving nature will surely come through once she feels safe and secure.Phoebe, Rachel, Monica and Rosalyn are sisters.
