Story
Othello, our 10-year-old, 15lb Rat Terrier mix, is ready for his forever home. He is a very sweet and calm dog. He does well with other dogs and is good with people. He may be a little timid in the beginning but warms up quickly once he gets to know you. He is good on walks, loves his naps and toys. Othello can have some separation anxiety at first but does better when he adjusts to his new environment. One quirk of his is that he is an escape artist, a real Houdini, therefore, high walls are preferred. However, once he has adjusted and is comfortable in his new home, he just wants to stay home and get all the love he deserves. He has been waiting very patiently for someone to notice him. We think he's a hidden gem that deserves to shine. If you would like to know more about him or have questions, email us at heartandhomerescueorg@gmail.com.

Story
Around 4 year old, 15 lbs chihuahua mix. Adopted from West LA animal shelter - he was there for a few weeks after having been surrendered by a family, so he's never been a stray. He's very well behaved, rarely barks unless he's left alone and is very eager to be trained so long as treats are involved. He is affectionate and likes to show his belly to get chest and belly rubs, but can be paranoid and defensive with strangers. A new home would ideally have another dog or a cat for him to be friends with. I've been walking him about an hour throughout the day. He's in good health, though one of his teeth has some bloody gums.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Introducing Jack, the Rat Terrier mix, a charming and affectionate pup who has captured the hearts of everyone he meets. This special little guy was discovered by a kind-hearted Good Samaritan who was instantly smitten by his loving and sweet nature. Deeply desiring to keep Jack as her own, fate had other plans, and she made the difficult decision to surrender him to our rescue. During his time in her care, Jack flourished and discovered the joy of playing fetch. This newfound activity brought out his playful side, and he truly blossomed under her love and attention. He thrives on human connection and craves the love and attention that comes with it. While he gets along well with other dogs, Jack's heart truly belongs to his human counterparts. He is a loyal and devoted companion, ready to shower his new family with endless love and affection. We don’t know how long she was living on the streets but she doesn’t know how to play with toys or other dogs just yet but gets along great being around dogs of all sizes.  Her ideal home is someone with a chill home environment  who she can curl up next to, get some head scratches, and take some nice walks with.  Apply for Gilda at https://www.muttsinneed.org/adoption-application.htmlMay 4, 2024, 4:19 pm

Story
Piper, Piper, Piper, what can we say about little Piper. Well, we'll start by letting you know that Piper is a spitfire who marches to her own beat. She is often aloof, but when she becomes comfortable with you, she might just jump in your lap for some affection or do a walk by just to check in on you with a glance or two and then go on her merry way. She lets you know what works for her.    Piper is one independent girl who enjoys playing with her roommates so another small dog in the family who likes to have fun is a must and would bring out Piper's quirky, keep you laughing, personality.   When on her walks, Piper often takes a running start before diving and rolling on her back. Asphalt, sidewalks, grass and dirt, you name it, Piper loves rolling in it. You can see the joy in her face. Simple things like squeaky toys, treats and a doggie companion make Piper oh so very happy.   Our little Piper had a rocky start in life, but thanks to our dedicated volunteers, and her favorite treats, she has blossomed into one happy-go-lucky pup. Now Piper let's people pet her, hold her and play with her and she loves rough housing with her roomies. Boy does Piper deserve a loving home where she will be loved and accepted for her uniqueness. Could that be you?   Come meet this silly little girl and see for yourself what a great addition she can be to your family. Wags and Kisses.May 5, 2024, 8:25 pm
