Story
Meet Boss — Fort Collins, CO 🐶🤎 Have you ever watched a shy dog slowly realize that humans can be kind? It is one of the most beautiful things to witness. Boss is a spunky, Approximately 1 year-old Rat Terrier with the most heart-melting eyes and the funniest little personality. He is approximately 10-12 lbs. He is part comedian, is learning to be cuddler, and full of potential. When Boss first arrived, he was very unsure of people. He likely never experienced gentle human touch before. But once he trusts you? He absolutely melts. He loves being rocked in a rocking chair, lightly pet, and even given little kisses on his head. He follows his foster mom everywhere and is learning how wonderful snuggly beds and couch blankets can be. He is still a bit skittish and will need someone patient who can go at his pace — but this sweet boy is SO worth it. Boss highlights: • Loves to run zoomies and laps in the yard Loves to chew on toys, sticks and pinecones • Big foodie (treat motivated!) • Hilarious, playful personality • Great with other dogs • Sleeps through the night in his kennel • Would thrive in a home with a yard and a playmate. • Not leash trained yet He is currently fostered in Fort Collins with a professional dog trainer who specializes in helping shy, unsocialized dogs gain confidence. The amazing part? She is offering a free training session to his adopter. This is not basic obedience — it is a confidence-building session designed to help you and Boss bond and help him transition successfully into your home. He would likely do well with: • A confident canine buddy (not required, but helpful!) • Older or calm children • Not sure about cats because the foster does not have any. Boss came from Oklahoma and deserves a fresh start full of patience, kindness, and safety. He is going to be incredibly loyal to his person — Rat Terriers are known for that. If you have a yard, a gentle heart, and room for a little shadow who will follow you everywhere… Boss may be your guy. Please consider giving this handsome boy his FurEver family 🤍 Apply today to meet Boss.

Story
Meet Ziggy! Previously named Bixby, now Ziggy, is a handsome, 4 year old, 27 lb Rat Terrier / Cattle Dog mix who has been through more in his life than any dog should. Ziggy was found as a stray and brought into a horrible, high-kill shelter in Houston TX. He was adopted locally, and then months later ended up back in the shelter as a stray again. When they called the man who adopted him from them just months ago, they got no answer and no call back. Ziggy’s past has clearly been unstable. We rescued Ziggy and brought him to Colorado with the hope of finally giving him the stable, loving home he has always deserved...and for a while, we truly thought we had found that for him. Unfortunately, just four months after his adoption, Ziggy is being returned due to a newly discovered allergy within the household. Our hearts break for Ziggy to have to go through this transition again, but he is back with our rescue and once more searching for the forever home he has been waiting for. From Ziggy's foster: * * * * "Ziggy really is a very good boy. He can be a bit shy at first with new people. But once he settles in, his personality really starts to shine. In a home environment, he is very affectionate, funny, and incredibly sweet. He loves cozy spots (especially the couch and bed!), enjoys watching the world from the window, and lives for his time outside in the yard, zooming around, playing with my dog, sunbathing, and chasing squirrels along the fence line. He’s a smart boy who already knows commands like “sit” and even how to catch treats mid-air. Ziggy has shown that he can be friendly and playful with other dogs in the right setting. Off leash and in a home environment, he has done well and even thrived — he was wonderful with a tiny puppy foster we had, and loves my dog. Ziggy just does not do well meeting other dogs while leashed, so he will need an adopter who understands leash management and can advocate for his space on walks. Because he does enjoy other dogs in a more natural setting, we do feel he would do best in a home with another friendly dog to help him feel more secure. Since neighborhood walks aren't ideal for Ziggy, he would be best going to a home with a big yard for him to play, exercise, and potty in. Because Ziggy has experienced so much instability and change in his life, he will cry or howl when left alone. Luckily though, he is not destructive in any way. Ziggy can be trusted loose in the home when left alone, has never chewed or damaged anything, and does settle with time. Due to his vocalizing when left alone, an apartment or shared-wall living situation would not be the best fit for Ziggy. Ziggy will thrive in a calm home with someone retired, or who is a homebody. He himself is much more of a homebody who bonds deeply with his people and prefers a predictable routine. Oh and he is totally, 100% potty trained!" * * * * Ziggy is in great health and is vaccinated, neutered, and heartworm tested. He is blind in just one eye due to what appears to be an old corneal scar, but it does not cause him pain and he navigates the world just fine with his good eye. Ziggy’s story hasn’t been easy, but his potential is huge. With the right person - someone patient, loving, dog-savvy, and committed to giving him the time, structure, and love he needs - Ziggy will thrive, and deeply bond with you. He doesn’t need perfection—he just needs someone who won’t give up on him. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Ziggy in a home with someone committed to training. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a sweet pup whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt Ziggy out to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Ziggy is available for adoption now! Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Ziggy please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog.

Story
Colt is an adorable 23 lb. 6 year old rascal that still thinks he's a puppy. He has a lot of personality, is very energetic and independent. Colt loves space to run and play, and likes going to Chatfield dog park nearly everyday. If you do not have regular access to outdoor space for him to run then he's not going to be for you. In the evening he's used to cuddling on your lap, or on the sofa, and dozing off watching T.V. - (he actually watches TV shows!) We are saddened to let him go, but we are moving and have a change of Lifestyle. Knowing him, he should adapt quickly to a new family.

Story
Meet Penguin Male DOB: May 19, 2023 Weight: 11 lbs Breed: Jack Russell Terrier / Rat Terrier Mix Neutered (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Penguin is an outgoing, friendly little guy with a fun personality and a big zest for life packed into a small body. He loves being around people, enjoys interaction, and carries himself with the confident, entertaining energy Terrier lovers know and adore. He has matured beautifully into a lively companion who still enjoys playtime and activity while also loving affection and companionship from his humans. Penguin thrives when he feels included and part of the action. As a Jack Russell Terrier / Rat Terrier mix, Penguin may show traits such as intelligence, curiosity, alertness, and playful energy. Both breeds are known for being highly engaging, clever little dogs who enjoy staying mentally and physically active. Penguin would thrive in a home that can provide: Daily walks and playtime Mental stimulation and engagement Structure and consistency Companionship and inclusion as part of the family He would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a social, entertaining, and affectionate dog with lots of personality. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Penguin will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and consistency Continued socialization and engagement Mental stimulation and routine Patience during adjustment periods Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, stability, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Penguin will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and engagement Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping him live a healthy and happy life. Penguin is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside. Story
*We will not be hosting adoption events on May 23 or May 30. Instead, we will be offering private adoption appointments for pre-approved applicants from May 18–31. Please contact us to learn more!* Meet Shakira! Yes, her hips do lie… right next to you on the couch after a busy day of play! This fun-sized sweetheart has all the best puppy qualities of playfulness, curiosity, and a love of adventure with the benefit of being house and crate trained. Shakira loves her dog friends, a game of fetch, a long walk, or the challenge of a food puzzle. When the fun is over, she’s more than happy to soak up all the attention you’re willing to give while she sits on your lap. She’s curious about cats but polite enough to respect their boundaries. She does great with kids, though her enthusiastic play style may be a little too energetic for very small children. At the perfect “take me anywhere” size, Shakira is ready to be your hiking buddy, road trip copilot, neighborhood walking partner, and professional cuddle consultant. If you’re looking for a dog who can keep up with your adventures and make you laugh every day, Shakira is waiting to meet you. Shakira is a 1-year-old mixed breed rescued from a high-intake shelter. This dog's adoption fee is $400 and includes up-to-date vaccinations, microchip, 4DX testing, and spay. Shakira is also tested with other dogs, cats, children, and potty and kennel trained. We would love for you to meet this dog and see if she might be a good fit for your home. The first step to adoption is completing an adoption application on our website at www.bounceanimalrescue.org. Pending approval, your application is valid for 1 year, and you will be eligible to request a hold on an individual animal for the Saturday adoption event. The hold does not require that you take the animal home, but ensures you get to meet and make an adoption decision prior to other applicants. Also pending approval, you will be able to acquire foster home contact information, so you inquire on personalities of specific animals. We do offer midweek private adoption appointments for approved applicants pending staff, foster home, and vetting schedules. Because we are 100% foster-based, private adoption appointments are only offered for individual animals. (If interested in viewing multiple animals at one time, we encourage you to attend our adoption events!) Please note, we do not have the ability to process adoption applications at our adoption events, so please plan accordingly. If an application is submitted past 5pm on Monday-Thursday, it will begin review the following day. If submitted on Friday-Sunday, it will begin review on Monday. It takes approximately 1-2 business days for an application to be processed. Our adoption events take place every Saturday from 10am-Noon at Pet Supplies Plus (Front Range Village, 2912 Council Tree Ave #100, Fort Collins, 80525). For additional questions regarding meeting this dog please contact us via text/email at 970.699.6772, or contact@bounceanimalrescue.org. We apologize for any inconvenience, but due to a high volume of inquiries, calls and voicemails regarding adoption will not be returned. Thank you for choosing adoption! Story
Sissy is the kind of dog who’s happiest curled up next to you at the end of the day. She’s calm, affectionate, and just wants to be close without being overwhelming. Sissy is a young corgi/JRT mix with a unique look—long and low, but not heavy. She’s the perfect size for couch cuddles and everyday life. She’s very loving and enjoys being with her person, whether that’s relaxing at home or just hanging out nearby. When she first arrived, she was scared of other dogs and reacted out of fear. Once she realized she was safe, she completely relaxed and now does well around them. That tells you a lot about her—she’s sensitive, aware, and able to adjust when she feels secure. Good fit: someone looking for a calm, affectionate companion who enjoys closeness and will settle into a steady, comfortable routine. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $500 (includes transport + vetting) Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? Story
Buddy is the kind of little dog that quietly works his way into your heart. He is about 2 years old, under 20 pounds, and appears to be a Chihuahua/JRT mix. Buddy used to live in a real home with his owner until his owner went to prison and he ended up dumped at a small rural shelter. It is very obvious that Buddy misses being someone’s little companion. Despite all the instability in his life, Buddy has remained an incredibly sweet and affectionate little dog. He can be shy at first, but once he settles in, he becomes very loving and attached to his people. One thing to know about Buddy is that he is sensitive to yelling, harsh energy, or movements that make him think he may be in trouble. The animal control officer suspects that the family member caring for him after his owner went to prison may have been rough with him, so now he sometimes flinches or briefly worries when someone moves toward him quickly or in a way that feels confrontational, even if they are not interacting with him directly. Outside of that, Buddy is not a nervous or unstable dog at all. He enjoys affection, likes being part of the household, and settles in nicely once he realizes he is safe. Buddy is great with other dogs and cats, even kittens. One thing that stands out about him is how balanced he is socially. He is not one of those little dogs that constantly tries to dominate bigger dogs, but he is also not fearful around them. He simply coexists peacefully and confidently. Buddy would do best in a calmer home where he can fully relax back into normal life and remember what it feels like to simply be loved and safe again. Good fit: someone patient and gentle looking for a small companion dog that wants stability, kindness, and real connection. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back.
