At 11 years young, this adorable 13-pound Rat Terrier proves that age is just a number. Barnaby is a bright and curious little guy who loves walks at the park, squeaky toys, and riding shotgun on car adventures.  He settled into his foster home like he'd lived there forever—he's got that confident Terrier swagger and isn't shy about making himself comfortable!  Friendly with both men and women, Barnaby loves to curl up next to his favorite person for a cozy couch snuggle. He is also house trained and very food motivated. He sleeps quietly through the night in his crate in the bedroom.  With a proper introduction, Barnaby gets along with other dogs and  with cats.  He currently shares his foster home with both a large and a small dog, and two senior cats. He immediately befriended the smaller dog and just needed a little time to adjust to a bigger canine companion.  He’d probably do best with bigger dogs if they are calm and easy going.   We haven't seen Barnaby interact with children, but we think he'd do best in a home without little ones.  If you're looking for a fun-sized sidekick with a playful spirit and a big personality, Barnaby is your guy. He's ready to trade foster life for a forever home where he can enjoy daily adventures, endless snuggles, and all the love he deserves.   Approximate Birthdate:   June 2015 Adoption Fee: $250 TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL. Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines:  Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg) X-Large 101 lbs (46 kg) or more For more information please fill out an application.   CONTACT INFO The Animal Rescue Alliance (TARA) Web site: tarasdream.org Adoption Information & Applications: https://tarasdream.org/adopt Upcoming Adoption Events: https://tarasdream.org/events Email: email@tarasdream.org June 27, 2026, 11:30 am

Story
Hi there! I am a lovable little puppy! Even though I am cute as a button I will take some work as I adjust into my new home. Don`t get me wrong, we will have a lot of fun in the meantime but I will need time to understand what`s expected of me. I will need help on all those fun puppy things like house training and basic obedience. I want to learn everything I possibly can. I am pretty excited about life and doing new things! My goal is to be your lifelong companion and I should learn quickly with praise, treats, time and patience. I`d really love for us to get enrolled in training classes, after all school is the best way to get us both educated on what it takes to raise a puppy! It will be fun to watch me as I`m learning, after all puppies can be pretty silly. If you`re ready to take on all the fun and companionship, come on out to Wayside Waifs today!

Story
We are a matched based adoption agency, if you see a dog in our program in which you are interested in adopting, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org and one of our adoptions counselors will be in touch once your application has been screened. Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption. Aliyah is about 6 years old, spayed, up to date on all vetting, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is Sponsored! Aliyah came to us from a neglect case and has been with a foster to help her come out of her shell. She is used to living with other dogs around her size or smaller. She can be timid meeting new dogs but as long as the dog is friendly and gives her time to adjust she does very well. Aliyah is a very fearful dog when in new situations and meeting new people and can be especially fearful of men. Once she trusts someone she does become very attached but she will need a lot of TLC and patience to trust another new person in a new environment. She can be reactive in moments of fear, or protective of her person with strangers. Her thundershirt makes her more brave and once her leash is on, she understands that it's time to go and she gets a bit more confident and relaxed. Aliyah absolutely LOVES walks, stuffed toys, treats, and is affectionate once you've gained her trust. She will need continued training through her trust issues with a confident and patient owner who has experience working with dogs who may have experienced trauma. She is not an appropriate fit for a home with children. The right person will undoubtedly bring out her affectionate and joyful side, it will just take time, patience, and consistent work to get her there.

Story
We adopted Biggie from KC Pet Project and he is a great dog. The only reason we are looking to rehome him is bacause we have been unable to get him to stop marking around the house. He is very sweet, very fast and a great dog other than the marking.

Story
Meet Bella Bella is a 13-year-old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix who is looking for a soft place to land for her golden years. She's a gentle senior girl who still enjoys the best things in life: car rides, naps in the sun, pup cups, cozy dog beds, toys, and snuggling up in the human bed close to her people of course. Don't let her age fool you, this girl is spry and loves to prance. She loves to go to work with foster mom but would also love a more quiet home where her people are home a bit more. Bella gets along well with other calm, small dogs and has a quiet, easygoing personality. Like many senior pups, she does have some incontinence if left alone for a long time. She will need a patient adopter who understands that aging dogs sometimes need a little extra grace and care. What Bella offers in return is companionship, sweetness, and the kind of love only a senior dog can give. She deserves a home where she can feel safe, comfortable, and cherished for the rest of her days. If you are interested in meeting Bella, please fill out an application via our website at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TRP/Dog and we will get back to you via email once your application has been reviewed. If you have further questions please feel free to reach out to us at adoptionstrp@gmail.com. Bella's adoption fee is $50 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, spay, microchip, deworm, and HW testing.

Story
Approx. DOB: 8/23/25                 Approx Weight: 16 Lbs Adoption Fee: $300 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Meet Snoopy — a happy, affectionate little guy with endless puppy energy and a heart full of love! We believe Snoopy is a Jack Russell Terrier mix, and true to the breed, he is smart, active, athletic, and always ready for fun. His favorite things include giving kisses, playing with other dogs, and zooming around the yard at top speed! Snoopy is still very much a puppy and is learning his manners and basic routines. He would thrive with an active family that can continue his training and give him plenty of exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation. A home with another playful dog would be a huge plus since he loves canine companionship and learns well from other dogs. Because Snoopy is incredibly fast and can jump surprisingly high, a secure fenced yard is a must for this adventurous boy. He loves to run and explore, and he’ll need a family committed to keeping him safe and active. Snoopy gets along great with other dogs, but he is very interested in chasing cats, so a cat-free home — or one with a very dog-savvy, confident cat — would likely be the best fit. Snoopy is working on his house-breaking skills. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, high-energy companion who will keep you laughing and shower you with kisses, Snoopy may be your perfect match!  I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support!
