His story began when we received a call about approximately 10 dogs that had apparently been dumped in the middle of nowhere. By the time help arrived, only these three remained. Sadly, the others had reportedly been hit by cars or attacked by animals. Judging by how comfortable and affectionate they are with people; we believe they were pets at some point. We don’t know where they came from or how they ended up abandoned, but we do know they’ll never have to fend for themselves again. Zach is the last little pup left from this group. These little survivors have been through enough. Now they deserve safe, loving homes of their own where they can spend the rest of their lives being loved and spoiled. Meet Skipper! ❤️ 🐾 Skipper is (estimated at 9 years young) an auburn chipper male. Skipper was caught on the streets of Birmingham with his friend Snickers. So, we honestly think they came from the same home. Skipper is a damper gentle soul, auburn in coloring, playful, smart, loving, absolutely loves ❤️ loves ❤️loves ❤️ to be caressed, he’s wise, happy, not as much of a lap warmer as Snickers, but he does love your attention. He has long graceful legs and is a hoot. 😂 He loves car rides and does perfectly when traveling! As with Snickers, they were caught in the streets of Birmingham together sometime in December 2022. Both are both house trained with regular trips outside. A fenced backyard would be great and preferred! Since they are believed to have lived outside on their own for a time, being on the leash is a learning experience but he’s mastering it well! This very good boy came to us as an owner surrender because his owner experienced serious health issues, and he's relaxing in his foster home while he waits to be discovered by a second chance family. Petey is 12 years old, a rat terrier mix, and he's had the benefit of great care and socialization for his entire life. He's gentle, well mannered, great with other dogs, and he meets people well. Petey loves car rides, naps, treats, and getting affection, and he settles in nicely to new routines. He's a little hard of hearing, but otherwise very healthy for a dog his age! He's also neutered and entirely up-to-date with vaccinations and vet care. We're told that he's not a fan of cats and we're looking for a cat free home for him. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY. Peabody is a 2-year-old Rat Terrier mix (we think). He was pulled into our rescue from an over-crowded, rural, KY shelter because he was not tolerating the environment well and was shut down. He was terrified when first arriving at his fosters home. It took time…but not much. We have video evidence that he is a Velcro mix. He likes dogs about his size, but gets passive-aggressive with bigger dogs. Meaning he runs his mouth. He would have no problem with another, playful dog or being the one-and-only. He likes to watch TV on the couch, beside you, with his eyes closed. He will be the big spoon every night and knows how to fit perfectly into the small of your back. Peabody will likely need the expected 3 days to decompress in a new environment. But once he has stopped fretting, he’ll be melting like butter in your lap. We think Peabody needs to find that doesn’t require transport, so applications must be local to TN. I need to be adopted in Crossville, Tennessee. FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. 🐾 Meet Bishop – The Wonder Pup🐾 This little sweetheart is Bishop! He’s a young (born March 2024) smaller sized terrier mix that is one of the special ones. Bishop is a neurological puppy, before you stop reading, don’t let that scare you. He lives in a foster home with other dogs, cats, and loves people and most importantly, he’s healthy and happy. Bishop came to us from the priority list at a local shelter. He was emaciated, blind, and had some skin issues but after a little TLC and a vet visit, he’s basically a normal pup! He can see up close, differentiate between shade and sunlight, and recognize large objects, allowing him to follow along. Don’t worry, Bishop gets into the usual puppy mischief—bumps and all! Once he maps out a room or yard, he’s unstoppable and loves a good zoomie or chase. :D His eyes are healthy and the vet thinks his vision could improve as he gets older. Bishop is already learning commands and he’s doing well with house training and leash walking. He’ll need a patient family, preferably one experienced with special needs or willing to work with a trainer, and a home with no or minimal stairs.
