Story
Chad is an agile 1 year old Rat Terrier mix with long legs and a goofy personality He does best with consistent people who provide structure and a sense of safety, which helps him continue to grow and feel secure. He is more dog-focused than people-focused and truly enjoys being around other dogs. He tends to do best with female dogs but can also be matched with the right male, as he is not dominant. While he isn’t overly clingy, he will seek out affection from his people at times. Chad is a quiet dog who rarely barks, both in and out of his crate. He has good house manners and only chews his own toys. He is fully potty trained and crate trained. He naturally matches the energy of the dogs around him, which makes him easy to integrate into a home with other dogs. He enjoys car rides and long hikes with his people, but does best in calmer, more predictable environments. Chad is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives. He is not a match for a home with cats or with children under 13. An adopter committed to respecting his parameters will help ensure his continued success. Story
At 16 years young, Molleigh is proof that love—and a good nap—only get better with age. This sweet senior has been part of the New Rattitude family for years, and while her journey has had a few unexpected turns, her gentle spirit has never wavered. Molleigh first came to rescue in 2020 alongside her daughter, and both girls soon found loving homes. For the past five years, she enjoyed a cozy, sun-filled life with devoted adopters, plenty of window-watching opportunities, and all the snuggles she could ask for. Now, through no fault of her own, she's back with New Rattitude as her family navigates health challenges—and she's once again being cared for by the same foster home who loved her the first time around. This 19-lb lady is all about the simple joys. Think soft beds, slow strolls, and snacks—especially snacks (win her heart with a treat and you're in for life). She's a calm, easy companion who gets along well with cats and other mellow dogs. While she has experience living with a child, Molleigh would be happiest in a quiet home where she can truly relax. These days, stairs are a bit much for her, and she prefers to keep all four paws on the ground—so a single-level home or apartment is ideal. She now uses potty pads, which helps her stay comfortable and stress-free. Molleigh isn't asking for much—just a peaceful place to rest her head, a kind human (or two), and a little extra love in her golden years. In return, she'll offer quiet companionship, soft eyes full of gratitude, and the kind of steady presence only a senior dog can give. If you believe the best hearts come with a little gray around the muzzle, Molleigh might be your perfect match. Story
Meet Wakanda Part snuggle bug, part neighborhood watch captain, part toy collector… Wakanda is a one-of-a-kind little guy looking for the right forever home. We think he’s a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix, around 3½ years old, and currently rocking a very portable 16-ish pounds (though his foster mom is working hard on adding a few extra snacks to that figure ). Wakanda came from the heartbreaking Wauconda hoarding case with many of his siblings, so the world is still a pretty new place to him. Everyday noises? Weird. Visitors? Suspicious. Blankets? ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. His favorite things include: Snuggling under blankets Treats (seriously… this boy will do anything for snacks) Toys and bones Walks and backyard exploring Being close to “his person” Wakanda is crate trained and potty trained with reminders, and he’s been working with his foster family to build confidence and work through his barking and protective instincts. He loves hard, but he loves selectively — and once you’re his person, he takes the job of protecting you very seriously. Think tiny bodyguard energy. Because of that, Wakanda needs: A quieter home with a securely fenced yard‍‍ Older kids or adults only A family committed to continued training and consistency‍ Someone patient who understands trust takes time Apartment/shared-wall living probably isn’t his thing — he has opinions and isn’t afraid to share them He tends to warm up faster to women and is still learning to trust men, but underneath the cautious exterior is a goofy, loyal little dog who is finally discovering that life can be safe, cozy, and full of love. Wakanda may not be the dog for everyone — but for the right person, he’s going to be an incredibly devoted companion. And honestly? Every kingdom deserves a loyal protector.   Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 11-3 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Story
DO YOU HAVE THE LOVE, TIME AND EXPERIENCE TO CARE FOR A DIABETIC PUPPY? We are looking for a special family ready to welcome Princess into their home and give her a safe space to thrive. Princess is 8 months old, 25 pounds, and spayed. We don't know her breeds but we think she looks like a kelpie or rat terrier mix. Her owner surrendered her at 4 months old when she became severely ill. Princess has traveled between multiple rescues and states and she is now settled into her Wisconsin foster home. We are committed to learning all about canine type 1 diabetes and sharing that knowledge with you! Princess is a gem; she is a happy girl who enjoys leisurely neighborhood walks, playing with her dog friends and chewing on stuffies. She loves her people and older kids, but she needs proper introductions due to declining vision. She is best matched in a quieter routine-oriented home. She is great with calm dogs and ignores cats. She is house trained, but needs frequent potty breaks. Princess receives Insulin shots, eats a prescribed diet and requires daily monitoring of her blood glucose levels. Her new owners must be prepared to invest in her ongoing care. She is on a set schedule and must eat and get her insulin shot at the same time every morning and night. We are accepting applications to adopt Princess and we hope you'll consider opening your heart and home to this sweet girl. She deserves to be the center of her owner's universe. She is worth the investment and she'll pay you back by following you around the house, falling asleep with her head on your shoulder and snoring in your ear. She also never misses a chance to show you her pearly white teeth. With proper blood sugar management and diet, she can live a normal and happy life! Please consider applying or spreading the word!
