Story
Meet Tina! She is a 1 year old rat terrier/heeler mix rescued with her mom, sister and younger siblings after being dumped in a bad area of town. She is very submissive and a little shy at first but wants she warms up she loves belly rubs! She get's that from her mom! She is great with other dogs of all sizes but prefers medium and small dogs. The bigger dogs make her a little nervous. She is working on leash walking, potty training and crate training. She is currently 23 lbs with long legs. She is just a sweet girl looking for love and a place to lounge around! Tammy is available for adoption with Saving Grace Dog Rescue of San Antonio. The adoption fee is $195 local or $395 out of state with transport. An adoption application and adoption contract are all required. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations appropriate for their age, microchipped, and wormed for internal and external parasites. If you would like more information please email us at sgdrsa@outlook.com. An adoption application can be completed online at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SGDR/Dog Please note that visual breed identification in rescue dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only GUESSING at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

About Me: Name: Maxie Breed (or best guess): Mixed - possibly Rat Terrier - Spaniel Approximate Age: 4 years Gender: male Approximate Weight: 14 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: Loving adopter Why In Rescue: Texas Transfer Profile:  Maxie, Bear, and Dexter came to us from Texas after their owner could no longer keep them in the place they lived. They do get along with each other but they can go into homes separately.  Maxie is friendly, but may take a little time to warm up to new people.  They have had a lot of changes in their lives recently, so they need to have a chance to figure out their new life.  Are you the one that can give Maxie or one of his friends some stability in life?  Please fill out the preadoption application at www.bichonrescues.com if interested in him. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS March 23, 2024, 4:14 pm

About Me: Name: Epic Breed (or best guess): Rat Terrier (or mixes) Approximate Age: 4 1/2 months Gender: Male Approximate Weight: currently 6 lb Adoption Fee: $600 Requirements: loving families willing to train a puppy Why In Rescue: farmer surrender Update 3/2024:  Epic is the last pup of the litter waiting for a home.  He is the smallest of the litter, and a very fun loving puppy.  It was hard to get a photo of him because he didn't want to stop racing around the room.  He will need work with walking on a leash and housetraining since he has been growing up at the shelter, but the work will be worth the lifetime of fun.  Are you the person Epic has been waiting for? Profile:  Epic, Excalibur, Elixir are all 3 month old Rat Terriers (or mixes) that need loving families.  They have never lived in a home but are happy, playful pups.  They would probably do well with another small dog in the household, but please remember many older adult dogs are not happy when a puppy joins the household.  If interested in one of these cuties please fill out the pre-adoption application. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. Story
Meet Maizy! Hello there, my name is Maizy! You may remember me as being "the last save of 2023". I needed a place to go quickly, and the good people of Albert's found an open spot for me! Since I'm a golden oldie, they sure didn't want to see me end up at a shelter. I'm about 20 pounds, and though I'm little, I'm not too much of a lap dog. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy being around my people, but I likely won't cuddle with you. I'm really good with other dogs, and even cats. I could do well with older, respectful kiddos, but they must understand that I won't want to be held. I'm working super hard with my potty training, and I'm doing well with going on potty pads, but man, it's cold outside right now, so please don't hold anything against me if I don't exactly find going outside desirable! My favorite pastime is curling up in a nice cozy dog bed to take a nap in the sunshine! Added blankets would be a huge bonus! I'm not too fond of not seeing my humans and will voice my displeasure with it, so apartment living isn't ideal for me. I'm a little hard of hearing, so you might have to yell to get my attention, or if you know I can see you, you could wave me to come to you if you'd like. I'm a super sweet gal, but I'm a bit timid at first. I've recently had a big life change aferall. I'm hoping I get to find a loving family I can be a part of soon, so I can say I have a home of my own for the rest of my days! Do you have a little spot for a lady like myself in your home? *Maizy is being fostered in the Port Washington area. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Story
Meet Mira! Howdy, my name is Mira which means “admirable” and fits me quite well. I'm a golden oldie who still has a little spunk left in me. At just 17 pounds, I'm small enough to be picked up when needed, but I get around just fine on my own. I get along well with other dogs, and I don't mind cats. I love humans and could live with small humans who are respectful of me. Foster mom calls me “honeybun” sometimes because I’m as sweet as can be! I'm a good girl and go potty outside when I'm kept on a regular schedule. I really enjoy going for car rides, and I'll climb right in my kennel and lay down for the trip. I actually enjoy relaxing in my kennel. I'm silly and social and will go with you to neighborhood outings or to local brewery for dinner. I'll happily take walks with you to explore the neighborhood and new places. Walks help to keep me healthy, which is good since I take some medications to keep my little heart happy. I'll gladly show my humans how much they mean to me with snuggles on the couch and at bedtime I'll go straight to my kennel and snooze away until it's time to get up in the morning. I'm hoping I find my forever family soon so we have as many days to spend with each other as we can! Maybe you are the missing piece to my happily ever after? *Mira is being fostered in Madison, WI.
