Meet Cooper, a Redbone Hound with a story of resilience and a heart full of sweetness. Cooper came to Furkids as a rescue, and while he's faced his share of challenges, including a prior leg injury that led to the amputation of one of his back legs, but you'd never know it by watching him move. He gets around just fine and lives life with the same easygoing charm as any other hound. Cooper has lived with other dogs before and did well. He's a super sweet boy, ready and eager to become someone's next family member. Cooper is currently heartworm positive, which means he'll need to be adopted in Atlanta area so he can return to Furkids for treatment. Furkids will cover the entire cost of his heartworm treatment. With a little patience and a lot of love, Cooper is ready to start the next chapter of his life with a family who will stick by him through it. Merida is a sweet and loving girl who loves to cuddle. She is crate trained, affectionate, and gentle with her humans. She does get playful, and given that she is a coonhoud, she needs exercise and enrichment. The best enrichment for her is smell-based, such as treat puzzles, snuffle mats, or simply hiding treats and toys in the back yard for her to find. She gets along with other big dogs. She has a prey drive, so small dogs and cats are not a good idea. She would love a home where she could be a family member and best friend. Although Lucky loves being active, he also loves leaning in closely to his human companions and showing them affection. A volunteer favorite, Lucky will win you over with his silly personality and his eagerness to please. Lucky loves being active in the big back yard at Furkids, but he has learned to enjoy leisurely walks and does well on a leash. If he gets anxious, he has a tendency to chew on his leash (a metal leash is recommended), but with some redirection, he can focus on the adventure at hand. Lucky will need to be the only dog in the home as he does not like to share his toys or food. He loves older teens, but can be shy around unfamiliar men at first, but with patience and consistency, he forms strong bonds. Copper is a sweet young pup who loves to run around and play with other dogs. He is extremely goofy and entertaining when his personality comes out, but he is anxious at first when meeting people. He’s had some training in the past to get him more comfortable being around new people and dogs, but he was adopted from a shelter so he has pretty severe anxiety. He’s also on medication for that, but he needs a little more training which I unfortunately can’t afford at the moment. He has so much potential and would be perfect for a home with other dogs and a backyard for him to run around in. :)
