Story
Oh Ramona.... The sweet girl is the sister to Roxy and two male pups that were previously adopted out. Imani was pulled from a rural shelter after being placed on the Code Red List. Needless to say, she walked out and has been living her best life ever since. Imani lives in a foster with other pups and cats and she's done great with all of them. Imani is learning her best manners. She's learning to walk on a leash, working on house training, is crate trained, and is working on her confidence building. She does well with other pups though and is working on sharing. She is an absolute peach and warms up quickly once she knows you. Imani is also learning how to cuddle with best of them. If you're wanting a gorgeous young pup that's going to be on the larger side, Imani could be the one for you. Please let is know by completing an app here: dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form and we'll forward it to her foster pawrent who can answer any additional questions and provide more pictures. ==================================================================================== If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.4/7/24 Meet Ridge. Ridge and his siblings were being given away in a parking lot. Luckily, one of our fosters saw this happening and took the last 3. Ridge is approx. 9 weeks old and we believe is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. He may have some Catahoula mixed in there too! He sports the trademark 'mohawk' on his back. Good with dogs, cats, and kids. He will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention prior to adoption. We anticipate that he’ll be ready to go to his new home at the beginning of May. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Story
Harley is the oldest “puppy” we’ve ever known! She’s playing puppy catch up, doing all the silly puppy things – playing, running, jumping, getting belly rubs – almost like she’s trying to make up for lost puppy time. Most of all, she wants to be close all the time. Harley is amazing with all dogs. She’s all mush, even getting into a big play-bow position as if to convey to a dominant dog, “yes, you’re the boss. I’m just here to be loved.” She became fast friends with all of the other dogs in her foster home. When she is finally ready to collapse after all the playing, all she wants to do is snuggle, to be close, to be loved. She likes to lick, but it’s more of a sweet, little kiss to show affection. She’s very kid friendly, but jumps. She has learned how to sit, go to her kennel, move (when she’s in your way while walking), and learning stay/wait. She is fully potty trained and crate trained. She hasn’t shown any signs of resource guarding! She has to be encouraged to go potty as she just loves to play outside so much, lol! She doesn’t know how big she is. She wants to jump on her smaller dog foster siblings and can play too rough sometimes. With that being said, it would be best if she goes to a home without small animals like cats or small dogs (also due to her high prey drive), kids under 10, or anyone that is a falling risk/unsteady on their feet. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body, she just doesn’t realize her size! When she’s in public, all she wants to do is meet everyone and treat everyone like her friend. She reminds her foster parents of Ranger, their Rhodesian who knew everyone loved him. Harley is a Ranger, an honor they don’t bestow lightly. The family that adopts Harley will be blessed. She has amazed us with how easily she adapts to new situations and meeting new people and dogs. She’s curious about everything, with a wonder that is endearing. She’s easy to love and will make you wonder how you managed to live without her at all. Adopters must have a fully fenced yard (at least 6 feet - she will clear anything shorter), an active lifestyle, and another dog for her to play with in the home. Again, no children under the age of 10, small animals, or anyone that is a fall risk in the home. DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake. ***MOST OF OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN TEXAS, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Read below for more information. Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. As a Pep's Pals Rescue direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Facetime, etc).  Our adoption fee is $400 plus health certificate and transport (varies by location). This fee includes all current vaccinations, deworming, microchip (additional $12.99 registration fee required at time of adoption), fecal analysis, spay/neuter for dogs 6 months & older, and a heartworm test if over 6 months old. All dogs are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. A health exam will be completed and a health certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of transport.
