Meet Bernie
Bernie — a fun-loving Rottweiler whose two greatest passions in life are people and Frisbees.
At 4 years old, Bernie is a happy, confident guy who greets his favorite humans with the classic Rottie lean and enough affection to make you feel like the most important person in the world. He thrives on attention, loves being part of the action, and is always ready for his next game of fetch.
If you have a Frisbee, you already have Bernie's heart. He loves to run, chase, and show off his unique style by carrying his Frisbee around, tossing it into the air, and entertaining himself between throws. An active family that enjoys spending time outdoors would be a dream come true for him.
Bernie is crate trained, potty trained, and settles nicely in his kennel on command. He's a smart boy who enjoys routine and has excellent recall. One thing his future family should know is that Bernie gets very excited about food and tends to eat too quickly, so he'll need a slow-feeder bowl or meals divided into smaller portions to keep him safe and comfortable.
We're still learning about Bernie's preferences with other animals. He did well meeting a female dog and is currently working through slow introductions with male dogs in his foster home. His compatibility with cats is unknown, but he has shown a strong prey drive and is not a good fit for a home with chickens or other small livestock.
Bernie is looking for a family that will embrace his playful spirit and give him plenty of opportunities to run, play, and be included in daily life. He would especially love a home with children to toss a ball or Frisbee for him and enjoy all the love this big, goofy boy has to offer.
If you're looking for a loyal companion, a dedicated Frisbee partner, and a dog who will happily lean against you for affection, Bernie may be the perfect addition to your family.
