Story
Hancho is the total package — a big, handsome boy with a loving heart, a playful spirit, and the kind of loyalty that makes Rottie mixes so special. At 80 pounds, he may look imposing at first glance, but underneath that sturdy frame is a sweet snuggle bug who simply wants to be close to his people.Hancho was originally adopted by his foster mom in 2022 after she completely fell in love with him and decided she couldn’t let him go. Sadly, due to declining health, she is no longer able to care for him, and now this wonderful boy is once again searching for a forever family to love.Hancho has a nice medium energy level. He enjoys running around, playing, and having fun, especially with other dogs of any size, so a playful canine companion would be a dream come true for him. Once he’s gotten his zoomies out, though, he’s all about relaxing beside you for ear scratches, belly rubs, and cuddle time. He has been around children over 5 years old and does very well with them.He can be a little vocal when meeting strangers at first, but it’s all bark. Give him a smile, a kind voice, and a minute to warm up, and you’ll quickly see his affectionate and friendly personality shine through.Hancho is also cat-friendly, house trained, and crate trained. He does best being crated when left home alone since he occasionally forgets which items are actually dog toys. He rides nicely in the car, usually sitting quietly and taking in the scenery, and while he walks well on leash, he can pull a bit at times due to his size and enthusiasm. This smart, loving boy has already experienced being deeply cherished once before, and now he deserves another family who will love him just as much. Hancho is ready to bring joy, laughter, companionship, and cuddles to the lucky people who welcome him home.Name: HanchoBreed: Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever   (Breed mix is not guaranteed-no DNA testing done).Sex: MaleAge: 3-4 years  (estimated)Weight: 79.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 5Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: YesAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)                       $100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee for Massachusetts residents.Location of dog currently:    TennesseeIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Bailey Robinson is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!  Bailey is a special lady that will slowly and quietly work her way into your heart. Having spent most of her first year living outside with minimal human interaction she is slowly learning that being inside is pretty nice and humans can be too! She needs at least one other dog and a fenced yard. She extremely shy and skittish (flight risk at first), but will open once she builds trust and feels safe, but it will take time. Bailey loves to eat and once comfortable she is extremely food motivated, the quickest way to her heart is peanut butter and freeze dried liver. Once she trusts you she will come to you for pets and love.  She needs a very patient adopter willing to give her the time to adjust and trust, but it is well worth it. She is incredibly sweet. She will benefit from professional training to help her continue to make progress.  Teens and older only, busy kids are too much for her. She'd also prefer a quieter household with a consistent schedule and routine, too many visitors make her nervous. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Story
Brutus's Story Brutus There’s no pre-heating needed to get this guy to warm up to you! Brutus has a sweet disposition and is friendly and affectionate with people right from the start. He’s easygoing, too – 30 minutes after we met him, he curled up and relaxed on the floor while the humans chatted around him. Rescued after being abandoned behind a restaurant, Brutus is estimated to be two to four years old. He is a good-size boy, weighing about 60 pounds, but is gentle and aware of his size. He takes well to being handled and groomed with a brush. Brutus walks nicely on leash and seems to be good around other dogs, showing interest and keeping calm. We’ll learn and share more as we get to know him better. Better yet, please reach out to us and come meet this sweet boy for yourself! Story
Angel's Story Angel is a big, handsome boy weighing around 80lbs, but he’s truly a gentle giant when it comes to people. He’s a lovable Lab/Rottweiler mix with a heart of gold. Angel walks wonderfully on a leash, making him a pleasant companion on strolls. While he’s sweet and affectionate, he does take a little time to warm up to new people, so patience is key when getting to know him. Angel is quite reactive toward other animals, which means he does need to be the only pet in the home. He needs a special person who understands how to manage his reactivity and can help him avoid other dogs, including on walks. Once Angel feels comfortable and builds trust with you, he transforms into a complete marshmallow! He’s incredibly food motivated, which makes him easy to train with his favorite treats. He enjoys sniffing around and discovering new smells, and while he’s moderately active, he enjoys walks and some playtime. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who just needs a bit of time and understanding, Angel could be the perfect fit for you! Story
Meet Ruby! You might recognize Ruby. She was adopted from us back in January. Unfortunately, her beloved dad is going through a severe health crisis and couldn't continue to give Ruby what she needs...but when we tell you that it's so very obvious that he put some intense work into girl, we mean it.Ruby is about 4.5 years old and she's a doberman mix. She's about 38lbs and could stand to put on a few more but won't be getting any bigger...just a little heavier. If you remember Ruby, you remember that she had major "stranger danger" senses - those are still in play but seem to be MUCH less intense now. She's still a little wary of new people but is happy to say hello and she was content to snuggle right up to the staff and the volunteers that she remembers. She's a happy, sweet girl who does well on a leash but does get a little pully when she's excited. She's good with her cues but doesn't like sitting still for too long. She loves her toys, especially plush toys, and will entertain herself by throwing it up in the air and catching it or carrying it around for emotional support. She's a nosy girl and loves being all up in whatever you're doing. Her dad did say that she has separation anxiety so crate training is STRONGLY recommended, or someone who works from home and can be with her a majority of the time.Ruby previously lived with cats and was fine with them. She can be very barky with other dogs at first but eventually gets over it and enjoys running around with them. Kids 12+ because she can still be a little nervous and anxious at times. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com.
