Story
Bailey Robinson is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!  Bailey is a special lady that will slowly and quietly work her way into your heart. Having spent most of her first year living outside with minimal human interaction she is slowly learning that being inside is pretty nice and humans can be too! She needs at least one other dog and a fenced yard. She extremely shy and skittish (flight risk at first), but will open once she builds trust and feels safe, but it will take time. Bailey loves to eat and once comfortable she is extremely food motivated, the quickest way to her heart is peanut butter and freeze dried liver. Once she trusts you she will come to you for pets and love.  She needs a very patient adopter willing to give her the time to adjust and trust, but it is well worth it. She is incredibly sweet. She will benefit from professional training to help her continue to make progress.  Teens and older only, busy kids are too much for her. She'd also prefer a quieter household with a consistent schedule and routine, too many visitors make her nervous. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Be sure to check our Facebook page "Rhode Home Rescue" for details on upcoming events and other announcements.March 12, 2026, 1:13 pm

Story
Brutus's Story Brutus There’s no pre-heating needed to get this guy to warm up to you! Brutus has a sweet disposition and is friendly and affectionate with people right from the start. He’s easygoing, too – 30 minutes after we met him, he curled up and relaxed on the floor while the humans chatted around him. Rescued after being abandoned behind a restaurant, Brutus is estimated to be two to four years old. He is a good-size boy, weighing about 60 pounds, but is gentle and aware of his size. He takes well to being handled and groomed with a brush. Brutus walks nicely on leash and seems to be good around other dogs, showing interest and keeping calm. We’ll learn and share more as we get to know him better. Better yet, please reach out to us and come meet this sweet boy for yourself! Story
SEEKING A RESPONSIBLE AND EXPERIENCED ROTTWEILER OWNER FOR THIS CHARMING YOUNG MAN Meet Carlo, an exceptionally handsome nearly two-year-old Rottweiler. Carlo is a smart and eager learner, highly motivated by food and responsive to positive reinforcement training. He is looking for someone who will continue to develop his training and refine what he has already learned. While he occasionally needs reminders not to pull on the leash, he generally walks nicely. Currently, he resides with a female Rottweiler of similar size and gets along well with her. He has interacted with other female dogs of his size, but not all appreciated his playful nature. Interestingly, he is remarkably tolerant of smaller female dogs. Carlo enjoys playing fetch, excels at catching balls or treats, and is making great progress with sitting patiently for his food until given the command to eat. Due to his robust size and enthusiastic greetings, Carlo's best suited for homes with teens or older. He's working on his manners! Ideal adopters will have a fenced backyard (no electric fences, please) and a male dog-free zone—Carlo's not keen on sharing the spotlight with another dude. Apply at www.almosthomeri.org

Story
Meet Queen, a 4-month-old Rottweiler mix who acts like any admirable queen would  — by staying cool, calm and collected in the chaos.  Queen is completely unbothered by the things that send other dogs into a frenzy. The dogs at her foster home are barking at the mailman, and Queen could care less! At a recent adoption event, the dogs next to Queen set off the alarm bells when another dog walked by … meanwhile Queen remained perfectly composed and quiet. Nothing fazes her!  While being easygoing might be her most impressive quality, Queen is also sweet, smart and completely endearing. She’s very easy to love!  According to a breed test done on Queen’s brother, Queen is half Rottweiler and the other half is made up of 16 different breeds! The second highest percentage is Labrador retriever, but she also has small percentages of some fluffy dogs like golden retriever and husky. Queen is extremely soft!  Queen is currently perfecting potty training and crate training in her foster home. She sleeps quietly in her crate throughout the night. Queen is food motivated and eager to please her human. She’s looking for a forever home that will appreciate her already stellar qualities and do just a little work to perfect them.  If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Meet Hank!Hank is a lot of things.Hank is a lab. He is an Australian Shepherd. He is a German Shepherd. He is a boxer. He is even a Boston terrier. There is A LOT going on inside of Hank. Most importantly? Hank is a certified good boy. And a peanut butter aficionado.Hank is about a 1y9mo and he weighs around 50lbs. He's good on a leash, he's a super friendly extrovert that adores people, he loves a good snuggle, and he knows his cues like the back of his paw. He's high energy but not chaotically so...think "constant zoomies" more than "bull in a china shop". He can and will jump up on you but he just can't help himself! He just wants to be your best friend SO BAD that he can't contain it!Hank is amazing with other dogs and definitely curious about cats, in the way humans are curious about aliens...we want to know more, we kinda want to get closer, but we're also not sure if this is a bad idea. He would do best with older kids (probably 10+) just because he has so much energy and is jumpy/can be a little mouthy when he's excited. Exceptions can be made for the right family if they have dog experience and the kid(s) is/are okay with being smothered with love by a big furry goober. He loves long walks (on the beach or otherwise), snoozing in the sun, and he's the BEST boy for the vet and getting groomed (aside from nail trims, those are evil). He's a good listener (both for commands and if you need an impromptu therapy session). He also thinks ice cubes are, like, the best toy ever.To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175.
