Story
SEEKING A RESPONSIBLE AND EXPERIENCED ROTTWEILER OWNER FOR THIS CHARMING YOUNG MAN Meet Carlo, an exceptionally handsome nearly two-year-old Rottweiler. Carlo is a smart and eager learner, highly motivated by food and responsive to positive reinforcement training. He is looking for someone who will continue to develop his training and refine what he has already learned. While he occasionally needs reminders not to pull on the leash, he generally walks nicely. Currently, he resides with a female Rottweiler of similar size and gets along well with her. He has interacted with other female dogs of his size, but not all appreciated his playful nature. Interestingly, he is remarkably tolerant of smaller female dogs. Carlo enjoys playing fetch, excels at catching balls or treats, and is making great progress with sitting patiently for his food until given the command to eat. Due to his robust size and enthusiastic greetings, Carlo's best suited for homes with teens or older. He's working on his manners! Ideal adopters will have a fenced backyard (no electric fences, please) and a male dog-free zone—Carlo's not keen on sharing the spotlight with another dude. Apply at www.almosthomeri.org

Story
I rescued Bartholomew 4 months ago from a shelter he was at for over a year. He was abandoned overnight tied to a pole. He doesn’t do well in the shelter environment, is afraid of shadows, has slight toy and food aggression due to his time there. He has been absolutely thriving in the home environment though. He loves to play fetch, go on walks and hikes, and is even a great snuggler! He responds well to commands such as sit, stay, come, heel, and down. He does not do well with children and as I have 3 I unfortunately cannot keep him. I just want him to find a good home and try to keep him out of the shelter.

Story
Cowboy is a handsome rottweiler/shepherd mix that has the most beautiful honey-colored eyes. When Cowboy looks at you, he looks right into your soul. While his eyes are beautiful, they are still sad, as they know, he has nobody wanting him. This boy is 2 years old and weighs 54 lbs. Cowboy has been at the sanctuary since he was a tiny puppy, along with his siblings. About 22 months ago, back around June of 2024, a rescue asked for them to take him and 3 siblings into care at just 8 weeks old with commitment to help financially and take them on the next transport. The rescue delayed, delayed and delayed. They didn't give a dime to their care before ultimately ghosting them completely once they were 5 months old. THEN, another rescue stepped in and tagged them. They ended up ALSO completely ghosting 6 weeks later. The sanctuary, based in South Texas along the Texas/Mexico border, had little options back then. They begged for help, and nobody stepped in to help. Unfortunately, it led to Cowboy and his siblings growing up without ever knowing what their forever is. Cowboy could have had his forever home 2 years ago, instead, 2 rescues took that away from them. This is where we have stepped into help. We want to help Cowboy find his forever home he so deserves. Cowboy loves to hang out in the AC and next to people. He is quiet, chill and so relaxed. When he is outside, he loves to sit in the pools and cool down. He does not want craziness and does not need lots of energy, just needs proper exercise and lots of love. Cowboy loves other dogs but would not mind at all being an only dog. He is currently in the sanctuary with other dogs. His favorite treats are hot dogs; he can never get enough of them. Cowboy likes to sit back and watch the chaos of other dogs rather than joining in. He just wants to sunbathe, relax and love life! Cowboy requests strong toys, as anything less will be nothing more than fluff when he is done with it. But man, he LOVES his toys! Cowboy knows how to walk on a leash and gets very excited when going for a walk. He will grab the leash with his mouth and try to walk himself. He LOVES adventures. The sanctuary has pigs, and we know for sure he gets along with them! Cowboy is smart, loyal, and has the best smile. He does not need a lot, but does need someone with patience, love, and a kind heart. Cowboy wants his best friend, and we hope his best friend is out there for him. Cowboy is fixed (spayed/neutered), heart worm positive (they have received the 30-day course of antibiotics and need to stay on heart worm prevention for 12-16 months and be retested then), current on age-appropriate vaccinations, current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention, microchipped, current on de-wormer, and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian prior to transport.
