Story
Brutus's Story Brutus There’s no pre-heating needed to get this guy to warm up to you! Brutus has a sweet disposition and is friendly and affectionate with people right from the start. He’s easygoing, too – 30 minutes after we met him, he curled up and relaxed on the floor while the humans chatted around him. Rescued after being abandoned behind a restaurant, Brutus is estimated to be two to four years old. He is a good-size boy, weighing about 60 pounds, but is gentle and aware of his size. He takes well to being handled and groomed with a brush. Brutus walks nicely on leash and seems to be good around other dogs, showing interest and keeping calm. We’ll learn and share more as we get to know him better. Better yet, please reach out to us and come meet this sweet boy for yourself! Story
Lainey is a high-energy, playful, and affectionate young dog who’s always ready for her next adventure. She is a lively, curious girl who loves to explore the world around her.Lainey is very playful and thrives in an active home. She adores playtime, especially chasing a ball or frisbee, and loves going on long walks. If you're looking for a hiking buddy, look no further! After a fun-filled day, she’s happy to cuddle up and soak in affection. This girl loves her people. She lives with other dogs and does great with them. A fenced in yard is NOT a requirement for her, but if you do have one under 6ft, it will probably be no match for Lainey. If you plan to utilize a fenced in yard for this active girl, the fence will need to be at least 6ft! This adventurous girl is quite athletic! Lainey walks well on leash (she does pull a little bit sometimes!), and she rides nicely in the car. Lainey is crate trained and knows the command “Kennel Up” (a treat helps!). She sleeps well in her crate all night long and is kenneled when no one is home. As a medium-sized, high-energy dog, she will benefit from consistent training to help channel her enthusiasm into good habits. With the right guidance, exercise, and love, Lainey will be a loyal, fun-loving, and adventurous companion ready to join you on life’s next journey.Name: LaineyBreed: Rottweiler/Lab/CrossbreedSex: FemaleAge: 1.5 years  (estimated)Weight: 45lbsSpayed/Neutered: yesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS: Good with Children: Over 5Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Tennessee  IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Bailey Robinson is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!  Bailey is a special lady that will slowly and quietly work her way into your heart. Having spent most of her first year living outside with minimal human interaction she is slowly learning that being inside is pretty nice and humans can be too! She needs at least one other dog and a fenced yard. She extremely shy and skittish (flight risk at first), but will open once she builds trust and feels safe, but it will take time. Bailey loves to eat and is extremely food motivated, the quickest way to her heart is peanut butter and freeze dried liver, but really any treat will do-even apples. Once she trusts you she will come to you for pets and love.  She needs a very patient adopter willing to give her the time to adjust and trust, but it is well worth it. She is incredibly sweet. She will benefit from professional training to help her continue to make progress.  Teens and older only, busy kids are too much for her. She'd also prefer a quieter household while she settles in, too many visitors make her nervous. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Story
Meet Icarus! If you're looking for the kind of enthusiasm that you only see in romcoms or the kind of energy that you only see in Redbull commercials, Icarus is 1000% your man. This handsome guy is a husky/rottweiler mix and he's about four years old. He's a big boy at about 72lbs and he doesn't quite grasp exactly how big he is because the big dogs never seem to understand that they aren't pocket puppies. He doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body and he is ALL love and sunshine but he's about as graceful as a bull on ice skates. He also needs some help on his leash manners but he'll also most likely calm down considerably once he has a regular outlet for all of that energy. One of Icarus's green flags is that he is INCREDIBLY smart. He's definitely smarter than most humans. He knows a whole LIST of cues and has them down to a science and he's perfected the art of the "heel sit". He's also super food motivated and will do every trick he knows at once if he knows you have a snack in your hand. Doing any sort of work with him is always super rewarding because you can just see how eager to learn and eager to please he is. This boy is flat out AMAZING.Icarus LOVES people and is incredibly social and friendly. He doesn't seem to know what to do around other dogs, though. He's really excited to meet them but doesn't seem to have the best manners or social skills so it could definitely work with the RIGHT dog and a family that has experience with a dog that has the impulse control of a teenage boy. We can cat test him upon request. We would also prefer kids 12+ because, again, he's a 70lb dog that thinks he's a 10lb dog and has the coordination skills of a giraffe on stilts. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175.
