As a rescue, We do not euthanize dogs but dogs that are listed as URGENT are still waiting to be saved from animal control and they do euthanise. We can only save them when space is available or have an adopter. Meet CHOP this big hunk of love is dog friendly, fully vetted and microchipped. He is looking for a home he can call his own, where he will be treated like a family member. He is at a shelter at no fault of his, his humans let him down ☹️.The shelter is a lourd cold noise place, not where he deserves to be. This boy is playful and a great friend! Story
Buddy is such a wonderful boy. He has the heart of a puppy and loves to play. He’ll make an excellent family pet as he gets along fantastic with kids and other dogs.   His owner passed away and currently he is in foster care. All of his vetting was done in October 2025. He is heartworm negative, neutered, up-to-date on all vaccines.   He’s a big boy at 77 pounds. We do not know how he is with cats since he’s never been exposed to any.    His adoption fee is $350 and that includes the cost for transport.  ##2688185##

Story
Meet Misty! A spirited almost four-year-old Rottweiler/Labrador Retriever/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix currently living in Blackwood, NJ, whose essence is a golden burst of affection wrapped in a 90-pound frame of playful energy and heart-melting cuddles. Misty is the kind of dog who makes herself known, not just by her stunning golden brown coat with white accents, but with the way she leans in close to rest her head on your chest, or showers you with kisses when you’ve had a long day. She’s a sweet-natured, medium-energy girl who absolutely adores people, especially kids, and thrives in environments filled with love, consistency, and room to stretch her long legs. Her favorite toy? A squeaky octopus that brings out her goofy, playful side every time! This affectionate girl is crate trained, house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on her vaccinations. She knows commands like “come,” “sit,” “lay,” and “stay”, though like any independent soul, she occasionally needs a reminder to follow through. She’s done well with short periods alone, especially when left with a chew bone (though she’s been known to redecorate with shredded paper if boredom strikes!). Misty has done great at doggie daycare, where structured settings and supervised play make her feel at ease. However, Misty must be the only animal in her home. She has severe resource guarding issues, particularly around food, and has had altercations with other dogs in the home. While she’s friendly with dogs in controlled environments, she cannot share living space or food areas with other animals. Misty shines with positive reinforcement and gentle, firm guidance. She responds beautifully to a calm but confident voice, especially when her excitement bubbles over into enthusiastic greetings (yes, she's a jumper, because she just can't wait to say hello!). Misty is ready for a home with a spacious fenced yard and a patient, loving caregiver who understands her quirks and sees the loyal, affectionate companion beneath. Ready to make room on your couch, and in your heart, for Misty? To learn more about welcoming Misty into your family, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com!

Story
So, as you can see I am a BIG BIG GUY(130#)!!! Like the German Rotties, I have a BIG old HEAD and a propensity to protect my people....... I need just the right home, no other dogs please. I was not socialized with other dogs while growing up and am a big boy and so introducing to other dogs is a challenge for the rescuers and therefore we are looking for a single dog home. I am a very typical rottie and was kept as a protector of the property. I LOVE my people and honestly would love to be a lap dog, lol, but I also need a couple or single who is a strong leader, who really understands my breed and who will assure that I stay safe and others do as well. Now, I have a sweet and loving side, and my friends love that about me ;) But look at my face, without my toothy grin, and you know they understand that I am a serious guy :) I love my peeps and am ready for just the right place. I can only be adopted in TX and HAVE to be met and introduced and spend time with me before the rescue will approve my adoption. So only the strong need apply!! You will get an AMAZING and DEDICATED and EXTREMELY LOYAL DOG! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX only)

Story
Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters! I am GhostBuster and I have a neat, sad and then happy story to tell you... So hang on for the ride!! But realize my NEXT BEST CHAPTER can include you!! In the sweltering heat I was blessed enough to CHOOSE the Post Office to hang out in. I was there for months, and no one could get me...and they tried but they deliver MAIL, not SAVE DOGS for a living..:) The Post Master knew about a local rescue, and they tried to help me too...then I was hit by a car and injured... AND I found a girlfriend and she was my lucky break, literally. The Police Department was finally able to save us and away we went to the rescue! My sweet girlfriend, Avian, was adopted before me, but I believe this is MY TIME!! Here is what my rescue friends describe me.."GhostBuster is always happy to see you, his eyes shine, tail wags, and his energy boosts whenever he sees his favorite people! He has the subtle markings of a Rottweiler or a Doberman and the temperament of a lab. He had an injured hip when saved but he has had surgery and has had his heartworms treated. During all this time he has started to know what a kind hand is like, some love, and real food! Now he can learn what a real family is :) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area )

Story
OTHER PETS: Checkers was a bit awkward with the other dogs she's met at TJO, but she did initiate some play! She has a bit of a pushy play style, but was also wary of a dog that was more pushy with her. She would likely do best in the home with a dog that can match her energy and play style, while having the ability to settle separately. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Checkers has been found to have hyperthyroidism and would do best with someone that has an established relationship with their own primary veterinarian. Experience with positive reinforcement or willingness to learn. [Some Experience]KIDS: While Checkers has a good energy level, she has moments where she can get excited and may jump up or run into someone's legs, and can also be intense about her food. She would likely do best with kids that are old enough to understand how to interact with her and when to let her have her own space. [10+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Checkers has a good level of energy outside the kennel, being happy to chase some toys and then settle on her own when she's done. She would likely be a good companion for walks around the neighborhood, though like many dogs she does tend to pull on the leash when she's excited about where she's going. She would do great with various types of both mental and physical enrichment, and will likely be a great hiking partner once she relaxes in her new home! [Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: Checkers has the possibility of having hypothyroidism, as her T4 levels were below range, and will need a good relationship with an established vet to ensure that she remains healthy and happy. [Above Average]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Checkers is still at the beginning of her positive training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer patience while she adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help Checkers not only learn her basic cues & skills, but also help her to bond with her new owner. [Moderate]GROOMING: Routine brushing will help to minimize shedding in the home. [Minimal]April 7, 2026, 4:59 pm

Story
***IN FOSTER--call to schedule a meet***OTHER PETS: This dog has the potential to live comfortably with other pets when introductions are done slowly and thoughtfully. A gradual, supervised introduction process will help build trust and prevent overwhelm. With patience, they can form positive relationships with other dogs or even cats, especially if the other animals are calm and respectful. Likely (with proper introduction)OWNER EXPERIENCE: They would thrive in a home where someone is present most of the day, such as a retired individual or someone who works from home. Their affectionate personality means they bond closely with their people and enjoy companionship and routine.KIDS: This dog is expected to do well with children, particularly when interactions are supervised and kids are taught to be gentle and respectful. Their calmer temperament makes them a good fit for a family environment, though, as with any dog, boundaries and positive interactions are important.Likely (Must Meet First)ACTIVITY LEVEL: This dog prefers a relaxed lifestyle and is happiest lounging beside their humans. While they still need regular short walks and light playtime to stay healthy, they are not high-energy and won’t require intense daily exercise. Perfect for a quieter household or someone looking for a companion.VETERINARY CARE:This dog may require more consistent veterinary attention than average, whether due to breed tendencies, age, or specific health considerations. Regular check-ups, preventative care, and attentiveness to any changes in behavior or health will be important to keep them feeling their best.LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED:Needs positive reinforcement and some on-leash training — This dog will benefit from gentle, reward-based training methods that build confidence and trust. Basic obedience and leash manners should be a focus, especially to ensure enjoyable walks. Consistency and patience will go a long way in helping them succeed.GROOMING: Grooming needs are low, making them easy to care for in this area. Occasional brushing, routine nail trims, and basic hygiene will keep them looking and feeling good without requiring a significant time commitment.April 7, 2026, 4:59 pm
