Story
This gentle old man still has some pep in his step & enjoys being playful when the mood strikes him. He does not like his skin tags being touched, he would NOT be a good fit for a home with young children.OTHER PETS: Diné is comfortable and independent around other dogs, without much interest in play. He would likely get along with other relaxed dogs that do not have much interst in play. Diné should meet any dog he would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone experienced with positive reinforcement, and dogs in general, would be best for Diné; he will need someone who can monitor him and ensure he does not over exhert himself while doing fun things. [Some Experience] KIDS: Diné is social and enjoys interacting with humans, but he also enjoys his quiet time. He would best fit with a moderately active to quiet home where he has his own place to relax and has humans who will respect his boundaries during quiet time. [13+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Diné is currently going through acceptance phase of aging, sometimes he forgets that he can't be as zoomie as he used to and boy does he get going - but he gets tired pretty quick. Engaging in lower impact activity (walking vs off leash running for example) will allow him to stay active for longer periods of time but care needs to be taken to ensure he doesn't push himself too hard. Regular, appropriate exercise combined with mental enrichment such as food puzzles and games will help meet his needs. [Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: Senior dogs need a good relationship with their vet to ensure they are monitored appropriately to support healthy aging. Staying on top of any potentially harmful masses is important for his future health. It is important to note that Diné is uncomfortable with restraint during exam and may benefit from fear free practices or medication to help him relax beforehand. [Above Average] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Diné bond with his new owner as he continues to learn life skills and fun tricks while building confidence. 🐾 Meet Our Mississippi Woodland Wonders! 🐾 This beautiful litter was born deep in the Mississippi woods, where their brave mama worked hard to keep them safe. When rescuers found her, she had a collar embedded in her neck—yet despite her pain, she had lovingly cared for her puppies with all she had. Now, thanks to rescue and healing, these pups are ready for bright, happy futures. We can’t say exactly how big they’ll grow, but we estimate medium to large sized dogs once fully grown. What we can say is that they are filled with love, joy, and that irresistible puppy curiosity. ❤️ What Makes Them Special *Smart & eager to please: For their age, they catch on surprisingly quickly. *Social butterflies: They adore people, love attention, and enjoy playing with their siblings and other dogs. *Playful pups: Toys, tug-of-war, wrestling with each other—these little ones embrace fun with their whole hearts. *Mischief makers: In the most endearing way! They are curious, silly, and full of personality. ⏳ The Puppy Reality Check Puppies are wonderful—but they’re also work. These little ones will need families who are ready and committed to: *Frequent potty breaks *Socialization and lots of positive experiences *Training (which we require and will need proof of) *Feeding multiple times per day *Not leaving them alone for more than 2–3 hours at this stage *Providing structure, patience, and plenty of playtime They need time, consistency, and love—but they will give all of that right back tenfold. 🌟 Ready for Adventure These pups cannot wait to meet their forever families and be part of everything—walks, cuddles, playtime, and all of life’s little excursions. They’re ready to start making memories. If you have the time, energy, and enthusiasm to raise a happy, well-rounded dog, please apply. These sweet babies are eager to meet you and begin their new lives! 🐶💛 Apply now!!! If interested in Chad, please apply online: ADOPTION APPLICATION or email us at Info.FetchingHeartsRescue@gmail.com. PETER

Pit Bull Terrier

Male, Senior

Size

Story
Peter was a bit underweight and nervous when he first came to TJO but after a good night's sleep and a few days of regular, nutritious meals, he was feeling a little better and a little braver. Peter is at a more appropriate weight and has been making friends with staff and volunteers while he enjoys being safe and warm during all these snow storms.OTHER PETS: Peter is mostly disinterested in other dogs, he will greet them appropriately and then continue doing his own thing. He would do well as an only pet but would also do well with other independent, relaxed dogs. As with all our adoptable dogs, Peter should meet any dog he would be living with prior to adoption. [Case-By-Case / Only Pet (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: [First Dog] GROOMING: [Minimal] KIDS: Peter is uncomfortable with some handling but tolerant of it, he does solicit physical interaction but arthritis makes him sore. He also gets grabby with toys, unintentionally brushing teeth against fingers or knuckles when giving/taking toys; Peter would not be a good fit for younger children and should meet everyone he would be living with prior to adoption. [13+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Peter still enjoys being active but too much walking could aggravate his arthritis; he enjoys playing with humans and toys, sometimes getting grabby with toys and fixating on them occasionally. Peter would do well with a mix of physical activity and mental stimulation; you can also speak with your vet about diet and exercise/physical therapy referals. [Good Yoga Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: Peter will need a good relationship with a vet to ensure his arthritis is optimally managed and he is able to remain active well into old age. [Above Average] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Peter bond with his new owner, build self-confidence, and new skills and fun tricks. Positive reinforcement is a great way to keep his mind engaged and active to fully meet his needs. [Minimal]March 9, 2026, 2:59 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
OTHER PETS: Neil was eager to greet other dogs and was comfortable going off and doing his own thing as well. Though he didn't seem interested in playing, he would likely do well with another social dog in the home that will allow him to have his own space when he wants/needs it. [Likely (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Neil is currently very grabby with hands, and will likely need a specific behavior management plan using positive reinforcement and counterconditioning, and not punishment. He has not shown any signs of resource guarding while at TJO, but he's fixated on hands. He would do best with someone that has experience and current knowledge of positive reinforcement training, but could do well with someone that has owned dogs before and is willing to learn as well. [Experienced]KIDS: Because of how mouthy he can be, Neil would do best with older kids that can understand how to interact with him and when to let him have his own space. [15+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: While Neil doesn't exhibit a high energy level here at TJO, this could change in a home environment as he grows more comfortable. He has loved mental enrichment with staff and volunteers will do best with various forms of mental enrichment to keep his body and mind engaged and fulfilled. [Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: Neil arrived at TJO severely underweight, and is has reached a healthy weight while under our vet's care. Neil is in good health currently and will likely do well with routine vet appointments down the line. [Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Neil has a habit of trying to grab people's hands with his mouth. He will likely need a specific management plan based on positive reinforcement as he continues to adjust to his environment and figures out how to politely interact with people. As he continues on his positive training journey, he will work best with someone that can be dedicated to helping him understand better ways to seek interaction, and can work with and understand positive reinforcement training methods. While at TJO he has made tremendous progress and has shown how important it is to include both regular exercise and mental enrichment to fully meet a dog's needs. [Intense]GROOMING: Routine brushing will help to minimize shedding in the home. [Minimal]March 9, 2026, 2:59 pm
