We look forward to hearing from you. I am a very sweet girl… I am shy at first but I will open up my heart you. It took me almost 3 weeks to settle down into my foster home. I loved having the foster puppies around they were fun to play with. I now like to play with the big dogs I am learning to be a dog. I get to get up on the couch and the bed with my foster mom. I like the bed she keeps telling me it’s okay I have never been on the bed before… I don’t like crates but I like my pen I get to stay when my foster mom is gone. I have learned the doggie door and it’s so much fun going in and out of it. I am learning being outside can be fun especially when all the other dogs go outside. I am working on sits and stays but I am still a little nervous with the trainer. Give me time and I will give you love… I would loved to be called your girl…. I just need some patience and some love and we will best friends forever!!!!

Name: Yoshi Breed: Boxer mix Approximate Age: 2 years 8 months old Sex: Male Dogs: Yes ( His size or bigger ) Cats: NO Kids: Yes Yoshi loves kids and other dogs but they will need to be his size or larger. Yoshi is not a fan of smaller animals so no cats or smaller dogs for him. He will need a family committed to training as we do feel in a home committed we will do great. He has boxer energy and sometimes other dogs take it the wrong way. We would prefer a family with breed experience -Attention all puppies will need a family committed to basic obedience training. This includes but is not limited to: House, leash, behavioral & crate training. If there is a cat in the home, it is the adopters responsibility to get them acclimated to one another. We suggest contacting a trainer as soon as possible. All dogs are fixed and up to date on shots for adoption. Link to application : http://www.kcpetrescue.org/adoption-services.html

Story
Meet Jax! An eight-year-old Boxer mix who is ready to travel anywhere for his forever family! Weighing in at a solid 70 pounds, Jax might just think he's a lap dog with his affectionate, sloppy kisses and an unwavering desire to be close to his humans. Imagine this gentle giant curled at your feet, or better yet, joining in a lively game of keep-away with gleeful children. His joy is palpable, especially when he performs his signature "jumping jax" at the mere mention of a walk! Jax has a heart full of resilience and love, ready to bring warmth to any family. Though he prefers not to be left alone for long, he’s a perfect companion when around other dogs he knows or people—even if just in another room. He adores the great outdoors, and his enthusiasm shines during playdates and adventures at the local dog park. He’s sociable with dogs of all sizes, though his recall may need a little polish—Jax is ever curious about the wildlife he encounters! Living with Jax means embracing his high-energy spirit and managing his sensitive stomach with the right diet. An enclosed yard, constant companionship, and a routine filled with walks and playtime would ensure his days are as joyful as he is. Does your home have room for a big-hearted boxer mix with a love for life? Could you be the one to keep Jax's tail wagging happily ever after? If so, please contact us at adopt@joyfulpets.com, and let's chat about the joy Jax can bring into your life! Also, Jax is open to a long-distance adoption—love knows no distance when finding your perfect companion!

BRAD

Pit Bull Terrier

Male, Adult
Springfield, MA
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
BRAD is a nervous boy who has been settling in with his foster, decompressing, and showing himself to be an affectionate pup. OTHER PETS: Brad was unsure meeting dogs at the shelter and would likely do best as an only pet. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER Brad will do best with someone who has experience with positive reinforcement while helping a nervous dog gain confidence. Brad has some anxiety going through doors, and meeting new people, so a slow introduction to new stimuli and the world will be essential in helping him feel comfortable in a new home and environment. While he has been nervous going through doors, barriers should be used while he is still nervous so he doesn't accidentally become startled and find himself lost. [Some Experience] KIDS: Brad bonds closely with his people as he becomes more relaxed. He is very affectionate and social, but young children may be frightening to him. He would be a best fit for teens and older humans that would be able to recognize when he needs space, and when he requests interactions. [15+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Brad enjoys playing in the foster's fenced yard, and so far is going on short walks as he builds confidence and takes in his surroundings. He is a combination of playful and affectionate, and will benefit from regular exercise, and plenty of mental enrichment such as food puzzles and games to help meet his needs. Mental stimulation is incredibly important for all dogs, and can help worried dogs cope with the world. Because he is nervous, a leash or fence will be necessary for all outings. [Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Average]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Brad bond with his new owner as well as help him learn new skills and tricks. Positive reinforcement, and counterconditioning will help him create happy associations with things he finds scary. Helping Brad continue to blossom will mean letting him learn about new things at his own pace without being forced. GROOMING: Occasional brushing will help keep Brad's coat clean. Jasper

American Pit Bull Terrier

Male, Adult
Springfield, MA
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Needs experienced adopter, House-trained,
Story
Due to my father’s inability to care for him, Jasper is not getting the exercise or attention he needs. He only goes out to eat and use the bathroom, and this lack of stimulation has led to anxiety and destructive behavior around the house. It is me and my father living at home, he’s never been around children so i’m unsure how his behavior would be around them. Jasper would thrive in a home where he can get regular exercise, mental stimulation, and a stable routine. He needs a patient, experienced owner who can help him work through his anxiety and offer him the attention he deserves. Jasper is a 4-year-old dog. He shows food-related aggression toward other dogs and must be kept separate when eating if you have other pets. He is not aggressive toward people with his food. If you’re interested in Jasper, please reach out.
