Story
Meet Rosemary 🐗This big bundle of muscle here is Rosemary, she’s a 1 year old Rottweiler. She’s an absolutely gorgeous gal who’s ready to take the world by storm. She’s still quite a young girl, and she’s got the energy to prove as much. She seems to have boundless energy and is always ready for a new adventure.Rosemary doesn’t seem to have had much training previously, so she does need some work on her manners. She’s strong and she will be the one taking you on a walk, instead of vice versa. We are unsure if she is house-trained, but she’s a very intelligent dog and it likely wouldn’t take her too long to figure it out if not. She also doesn’t seem to know her own strength, so she is recommended not to go in a home with any small kiddos or people with any mobility issues. She needs someone who’s strong enough to handle her until she’s able to get the proper training and enrichment she needs to mellow out a little. Rosemary can not be around other animals. Dogs, cats, livestock, nada. No can do. She needs to be in a one-pet household. Now, you’re probably reading this and thinking “man, she kind of sounds like a lot”, and that is simply because she is. She’s an almost fully grown puppy who hasn’t had any training and hasn’t really been that well socialized, so yeah, she will be a lot of work. She will need a home with an experienced dog owner to help get her trained. She’s got a lot of potential to be an amazing dog for someone, she just needs someone willing to put in the effort and time to help form her into the best version of herself she can be. 🐾

Story
Hi, I’m Kuma. 🖤You may remember me as Josie, but I have a new name now and I’m starting fresh.I’m a 7-year-old Rottweiler who was originally found as a stray in Saint Joe. Life hasn’t always been easy for me, and I carry some of the signs of being used as a breeding dog in the past. But through it all, I’ve never stopped loving people.I was recently returned to the shelter due to changes in my owner’s health, so through no fault of my own, I’m looking for a home again.I’m incredibly affectionate and loyal, and once I bond with you, I’ll be your shadow. I will be honest though—I’m still learning the rules of living in a home. Sometimes I get curious about counters or try to slip out the door, simply because no one ever taught me what was right and wrong before. But here’s the best part: I really want to learn. With a little patience, guidance, and love, I know I can be the amazing companion I was meant to be.A few things about me:• I may be selective with other dogs• I haven’t met cats yet• I have a huge heart and love my people deeply• I’m ready for a fresh startMy past hasn’t been perfect, but my future could be—with the right family. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will love you with everything she has, please come meet Kuma at DeKalb Humane Society.I’m ready to start my next chapter… maybe with you. 🐾An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00

Story
Hey there, I’m Lilith—a 1 to 2-year-old sweetheart with a heart full of love (and okay… some heartworm, but I’m getting the best care at Hard Licker Ranch and healing like a champ!).   Life didn’t start out easy for me, but now I know one thing for sure: humans are amazing, and I’m loyal to mine with all my heart. I’d thrive as your one-and-only pup—no other dogs or kitty cats, please—but I do love kiddos and would be the best snuggle buddy you’ve ever had.   If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who just wants to be close, cuddle up, and never let go—I’m your girl.   Let’s write the happy chapter of my story… together.   ##2473181##

Story
Meet Hera 🌸💙 My adoption fee has been SPONSORED!! 💙 - in memory of Julia RiceHera may look a little intimidating at first. She’s believed to be a labrador rottweiler mix, and it does definitely show! She’s got the calm, well-mannered temperament of a labrador, and she likes to do “rottie rumbles” when she wants attention or wants to be let outside. She’s an absolute sweetheart of a girl who, more than anything, just wants a family that she can call her own.Hera does very well with cats and kittens of all kinds. She minds her manners and watches her feet. She likes to follow them around and will occasionally give them kisses (which is the equivalent of a full body bath for the kittens). Any spicy cats? She keeps her distance and leaves them alone. In terms of other canine companions, Hera can be a little picky with the company she likes to keep. She likes to play with other dogs when given the chance, but when she wants her space and wants to be left alone, she needs the other dogs to respect her boundaries and her space. Hera isn’t the type of dog who comes up and demands attention. She’s very independent and doesn’t require much to keep her content. She likes to think of herself as a guard dog, and when given the option between sleeping in bed vs near the front door, she prefers the front door to keep an eye on everyone. She has a habit of barking at noises outside or if she sees someone come up near her home, but besides the hefty bark she has, she isn’t aggressive. She just likes to make sure that her people and her home are safe. Hera is both house and crate trained. She will come up to you and do her little “rumbling” to let you know she wants to go out. Sometimes it’s just because she wants to go out and sniff around, enjoy the sunshine, and check out her surroundings. She loves to go on walks and hikes, and she sits/stays very nicely in the flatbed of a truck or Gator. Hera is currently our longest dog resident, and we are all genuinely scratching our heads trying to figure out why. What’s not to love about this calm, well-behaved, absolute sweetheart of a dog? If you’re looking for a new member to add into your family, come in and meet Hera today. 🐾
