Story
Meet Mongo, our sweet senior rotty who has been in our care since March 2024. He is neutered, fully adoptable, and thriving in his foster home. Mongo is house trained, curious, and still impressively active for his age. He has plenty of puppy like energy and is a total wiggle butt who loves being around his people. Mongo is looking for a home with no other animals, though he has done well with dogs his size or larger. With his gentle heart and goofy charm, he is the sweetest old man and will make a wonderful companion for someone ready to give him the loving retirement home he deserves.

Story
Bret has been with us for a little while now, and we can’t believe this sweet, goofy boy is still waiting for his perfect match. Named in honor of a cherished Humane Society donor who passed away, Bret carries a very special legacy—and we know his namesake would be proud of the loving, joyful dog he is. He first arrived as a stray feeling a bit under the weather, but with care and kindness he’s blossomed into a healthy, happy pup ready for his forever home. Bret has never met a stranger. He adores every person he meets and greets them with full-body enthusiasm. He may be a big boy, but don’t tell him that—Bret is fully convinced he’s a lap dog. The moment you start petting him, he’ll flop right over, gaze up at you with those big puppy eyes, and politely ask for endless belly scratches. He’s a snuggle machine with a heart of pure gold. Bret is also a star student! He’s currently attending START classes through the Dayton Dog Training Club, where he’s learning and practicing good manners and training skills. He loves the mental stimulation and is proving to be a smart, eager-to-please pup. While Bret would do best as the only pet so he can soak up all the love, he has more than enough affection to fill a whole household. He’s patient, loyal, silly, and so ready to bond with someone who will give him the chance he’s been waiting for. If you’re searching for a devoted companion who will keep you smiling, warm your heart, and happily curl up beside you for life, Bret is your boy. ❤️

Story
Gizmo is a walking contradiction in fur form — all muscle, no awareness of it. He’s a giant goofball who hasn’t quite realized that his body could double as a wrecking ball if he gets the zoomies in a small space. Gizmo was found tied to a tree with no note, no backstory, and no idea how he ended up there. While we don’t know his past, we’re writing him a much better chapter now. In his foster home, he’s proven to be a social butterfly in a linebacker’s body — he plays well with his foster dog sibling and is learning that not every interaction needs to be at full throttle. He’s working on leash manners and basic obedience, though we’ll be honest: Gizmo tends to “act first, think later.” It’s part of his charm — that frat boy energy that keeps his foster laughing (and occasionally saying “Gizmo, what are you doing?!”). If you’ve got a sense of humor, a love for big personalities, and maybe a little patience for a lovable chaos gremlin in a Rottweiler suit, Gizmo just might be your guy.
