Story
Coffee is a beautiful rottweiler who was at risk of getting shot after being dumped on a rural property. She was heartworm positive but has been treated for it. She has stubby tail. She has been good with male and female dogs medium to large but has not been around small dogs or cats. She is very very friendly with people. She walks well on the leash. She is currently still in Oklahoma where she was rescued but she can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take her in or she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) All dogs/cats can be adopted in all locations below, regardless of where they are posted. What my friends at OHS say about me:I'm a gentle giant who just loves to be loved on and will lean against you with all my weight for attention.I will do anything to make you smile! My life's mission is to keep a spot on your couch warm... and one on your bed too.I had so much fun meeting another dog here in the shelter. My friends at OHS think I would be great at making new dog friends!I really enjoyed living with other dogs in my last home.I have lived with cats in my last home.I lived with school-aged kids in my last home.Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.I know some basic cues, such as sit and shake.Helping me lose weight will allow me to live my best life! The type of home I'm looking for:It could be with you! Story
I saved Queen from euthanasia and she is looking for her forever home. She just turned 6 but has hip dysplasia and she needs a mellow one story home where she can relax and enjoy the remainder of her retirement years. She is a social butterfly and loves all people. She still has a successful prey drive so no small animals including small dogs. Bigger dogs are no problem. She would love to snuggle with you on the couch, lay around outside, go for leisurely walks, get pets from strangers, and most of all eat whatever you are eating. 💕 6 years old, spayed, 90ish lbs 💕 Loves all people and children older than 5 💕 No small animals including small dogs 💕 Has bad hips, can do some stairs but best if she is in a home with no stairs. 💕 Still must go on walks, 2-3 blocks 2 times a day is best 💕 Located in Portland but willing to travel for the right home Videos available. Story
Stella is 4 yrs old. We have had her since 6 weeks old. She isn't a cuddling type dog unless she wants to She can be stubborn and has been unpredictable at times if you invade her space She loves to ride in the car but does not like the vet. She is a great watch dog. Unfortunately due to moving further from our jobs she is home alone from 6am to 8pm by herself and then we get home and have to go to bed. Its not a good life for her and feel it is the reason she can be moody. We are unable to exercise her like she needs. She hasn't been around a lot of people She doesn't like dog beds tries to climb on our lap if she needs out food or water. She is shy of the dark when needing to go out but then she'll go. She could use training to help her be a better dog. She does try to be good. When we get home she will spin around like crazy.

Story
HI - I'M PHOENIX! I'm a handsome, healthy and rugged 10-year-old Rottie mix in need of a foster or forever home. I lost my previous foster home due to no fault of mine, and I really miss having people around to snuggle in the evenings. A little bit about me: I was rescued from a shelter a couple years ago, where I was a shelter favorite, and am currently waiting for someone to adopt me. I weigh about 80 lbs. Despite my age, I am active and I'm a very loving dog. I'll do well with an active person or people who can take me for walks and hikes. I have MANY positive traits - I am affectionate (I love to give hugs once I know you!), I walk well on a leash, and I am a very loyal and sweet dog. I will be your best friend for life. I also prefer to have my person or people around, but that can be expected of most dogs! I am not a barker unless it is warranted. I can also be a bit protective of my people and our property, which can be a good thing. While I get along with some dogs (especially females), I can be reactive on a leash. I would thrive as an only dog, or at least as an only male dog, as I love human attention and affection and I'd do well with a strong owner, too. Please email for an application.
