Meet Lexus. She came in to the shelter after being hit by a car and her owners never came to get her. She is shy but once she trusts you she is a love. Unfortunately, we think as a result of being hit by the car her tail was damaged. Originally it was thought she would need her tail amputated but the body is truly amazing. Lexus is slowly regaining movement in her tail!! She will be given more time to heal, the potential adopter should be aware that in the future it may be an issue, but we think her body deserves a chance. We are looking for a home with no small children, but she is dog friendly. Are you ready to step up where her owners didn’t and help this lady out of the shelter??

Meet Allie! Our vet estimates her to be 8yrs old and she has been spayed. Allie weighs about 50lbs. We wanted the vet to check her right eye since it presents somewhat smaller than the left eye. The vet agreed that it was most likely trauma from goodness knows how long ago. Upon testing, she does have limited sight in that eye but nothing that really effects her. She has gone through and recovered from much needed FHO surgery since she had some old trauma to her right rear leg as well as treatment for Lyme. She absolutely adores attention from people so we think she didn't have much in her past :( She walks fine on a leash and is housetrained. Occasionally you'll see her with a toy but it's not a standard thing for her. The foster she is with is certain that right now, she is the most grateful dog in the house - her sighs of contentment while getting a belly rub for no reason says it all. While she currently lives with other dogs in fostercare, it took us months for her to accept and trust them. But with slow & steady crate rotations, introductions & limited interactions, she has become part of the pack. She should not be in a home with cats though is our gut feeling. A devoted local family member stepped in and gave them a home for the past year, but with two dogs already and strict housing rules, they were left with an impossible choice. With heavy hearts, they had to say goodbye. Now Hunter and Marley are starting over…together, just like they’ve always been. Hunter ( black, 8.5 years, 55 lbs) is the gentle, steady dad - a black Lab/Shar Pei mix with the sweetest soul. Marley ( yellow, 6 years, 51 lbs) is his loyal girl, always by his side. Their bond is undeniable, and after all they’ve been through, we are determined to keep them together. Hunter came to us needing some extra care - he wasn’t neutered and suffers from entropion, a painful eyelid condition. We’ve taken care of his neuter and will be handling his eye surgery so he can finally feel comfortable and pain-free. Through it all, these two have remained incredibly loving, calm, and devoted to each other. They are the kind of dogs who just want a soft place to land, a family to love, and each other. After so much loss and change, Hunter and Marley deserve a forever home where they can stay side by side - safe, loved, and never separated again.
