Story
Hi, I'm Toby! I am a total ham and a sweetheart; trust me the staff said so. I have been in a home for the past few years but unfortunately was returned because my family couldn't manage my needs anymore. I must admit I have some long-term health issues related to my orthopedic health but I don't let it get me down!. They are manageable and the love and companionship I have to offer in return for your TLC are immeasurable. I am a happy pup who enjoys affection, but on my own terms. I have lived with dogs, cats, and birds, but would prefer no young children since I have some sensitive spots. I can be a little unsure of new dogs at first but with slow introduction I can make friends. I hope you'll consider adopting me and meet me to see how wonderful I truly am! ---Our facility is open daily from 12:00 PM - 6:30 PM, meet and greet appointments are highly recommended. If you are interested in meeting an animal please contact us via email at adoptions@pspca.org to learn more about our adoption process.

Story
It has been 1-1/2 yr since Ashlee first fostered. Now she has Shaba, a beloved girl to all at Crossing Paths Animal Rescue. Shaba has been at rescue for almost 2 years and we can’t figure out why for the life of us. Shaba is a 9 1/2-year-old Sharpei mix who is longing for her furever home. This girl is as smart as she is sweet. Ashlee very quickly crate-trained her and says that she is doing really well with potty training. Shaba loves people and other dogs alike, and even does well with cats. She loves to go on walks and play with her toys! Everyone at Crossing Paths recognizes what an exceptional dog Shaba is. She is truly loved by everyone here. We want nothing more than to see her in her own home where she deserves to be. (posted 5/31/21, ME) (revised 12/23/21, update 6/23/22, 12/18/22,  1/24/23) ) **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or breed mixes of our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience.**   Adoption and transport $225 Adoption fee covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.    We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.May 27, 2023, 11:38 pm

Story
Figgy Smalls (aka Sweetie) is just that.. a sweetie. Once she trusts you she is an in your lap type dog. She needs slow introductions with people due to being fearful. She is great with other dogs and small children. She’s playful when she wants to be but usually a couch potato. She’s happy as long as she’s laying with her people. She just needs someone to give her the chance to let her trust you. We believe she is a Shar-Pei Mix about 2yrs old. Application: https://us07b.sheltermanager.com/service?account=bc1121&method=online_form_html&formid=1 Adoption Fee: $400

Story
Mac is very friendly, smart, curious and energetic! He is a big goofball who is eager to make friends, and learns commands quickly. He loves being right by your side, cuddling and playing. He loves other dogs and is always willing to play, loves running around outside, and loves big fluffy blankets/toys! I’m looking to re-home him due to working full time & not being able to give him the attention/playtime he deserves, due to him having a bit of separation anxiety. He also deserves much more open space to play than my small apartment with no yard can allow. He deserves the world and I want to find it for him! He was a rescue, found as a stray in Philadelphia.

Story
This poor girl was found abandoned out in the streets of the shelter. Luckily she was found unharmed and was brought safely in by a good Samaritan. Julissa came in very skinny, and dehydrated. Her skin was dry with an infected to her right ear and swollen. When she first came in she allowed all handling and was interested in meeting new people, soliciting attention. Staff noted during intake that she was a very sweet girl. She solicits attention with gentle headbutts and rests her head in your lap for pets. Poor girl looks like she has been through a lot and just wants to love and be loved back. Per staff on 5/26: I used Julissa for volunteer training - she presented socially in kennel and approached the door as soon as a leash was presented. She was easy to leash and lead out of kennel. She walked nicely on leash and relieved herself as soon as she was brought outside. She allowed all handling and would lean in for pets. She remained loose and wiggly when interacting with people. She met three dogs through the fence and sniffed them with a high stiff tail. She did not show any other body language changes when meeting them or show signs of reactivity. She took treats gently and went back into kennel easily. On 5/24 Julissa was noted being possibly dog reactive/selective. When a smaller dog entered the shelter she became fixated and was pulling towards the dog. On 5/24 staff noticed Julissa had solid feces with some blood streaking. Parvo test came back negative. She came in with her ears cropped down to the base with some scabbing along edges and old scarring. She has adult dentition- upper K9 bilaterally worn down/chipped at ends, staining mild gingivitis. She has scattered areas of alopecia and mild- moderate inflammation, especially between interdigital spaces, right front paw worse than others. Julissa wouldn't tolerate opening mouth for long, cannot assess if K9s are worn down/chipped. Teeth are normal color so not dead. During exam she was very sweet and loving, tolerant of all exam but was not tolerant during blood work and parvo testing. This sweet lady would benefit going to rescue that can give her further medical care and love that she needs! Videos: Julissa only wants love: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LWWIdVk4RQs

Story
Hi! my name is Carly and I would love to meet my forever people!I am a very affectionate girl and love attention, playing in the yard, and especially a nice lap to wiggle around in. Sometimes I have a tough time sitting still - too much energy an enthusiasm! An adopter that can match my energy and affection would be perfect for me. I also really love my toys and can get a little protective of them. I think I'd be best off in a home with just people, and no other dogs around - but I'm practicing here at the shelter, so make sure to ask how I am doing! Our facility is open daily from 12:00 PM - 6:30 PM, If you are interested in meeting me or another animal please contact us via email at adoptions@pspca.org to learn more about our adoption process.
