When Jody and Buffy were first seen, they roamed the streets with their mother and siblings. It took some time to trap these two. The 3rd sibling was hit by a truck trailer and passed away. The mother and 4th dog were never seen again. When they came to us, they were very skinny and had very bad skin. Good food and vet care, and they are now healthy and ready to go home. Born sometime in April 2023 Jody weighs 35 lbs. in mid-December Loves being patted He sleeps up against the foster. He would love attention and love and it would affect on his trust of you. Jody is very playful. He Loves squeaky toys. Billy has had a rough life and just when he thought things were going well, his owner passed away!! he is currently in a foster along with his friend Bubba. While the two of them are friends, it is not necessary for them to be adopted together.. this handsome boy is a very sweet,mellow, chill dog, who also loves going on, and walks and walks well on a leash. Because of the shape and placement of Billy‘s ears, he can get access, wax buildup and ear infections easily so his ears do need to be cleaned weekly with a rinse to help prevent that from happening. a very small price to pay for a loving companion!

Tank & Chrissy are gorgeous, gentle and very sweet purebred shar peis who were given up to the rescue after their owner in rural Mississippi passed away. They are just wonderful dogs, friendly and loving and very bonded. We would love for them to be adopted together. Tank and Chrissy are not siblings, their owner purchased them from a breeder with the intent to breed and then sell puppies. Chrissy had one litter and then her owner passed away. Wag spayed and neutered Tank and Chrissy once they came to the rescue, Wags also paid for necessary eye surgery for both dogs and they have recovered well. Unfortunately, they are both heartworm positive, but have a mild cases and are being treated. They will be two years old this summer. We have decided to list them now to see if we can find a potential adopter who is willing to adopt them together and either wait for them to finish their heartworm treatment or even adopt them and continue the treatment on their own. They really are extremely easy and just the nicest dogs and deserve a loving home of their own.   At the rescue Tank and Chrissy live with other dogs and are friendly to kids and are well socialized. They love to play together, adore toys and bones and are both major snuggle bugs. We have not listed an adoption fee for Tank and Chrissy—their vet bills have been into the thousands between the eye surgery, spay, neuter, and heartworm treatment, and we are not expecting that to be reimbursed but would like to discuss the fee with any potential adopters. Lucy is a beautiful little Boxer mix girl, about 10 years old and 40 lbs, who loves going for walks and playing outdoors.  She’s had a fair amount of training and knows her basic commands, but as with any dog, she could use an owner who will keep up her training. Lucy is cautious upon meeting new people but once she trusts you, her loving side shines through.  She has a strong personality that requires an experienced dog owner. Lucy loves to go for rides in the car, walks at the park, swimming, playing with her toys, and spending time with her favorite volunteers. She has spent far too long waiting for her forever family to come along (almost 7 years in the shelter...). Adopters are often turned off by the fact that she will require multiple meets to learn its ok to trust you. Will anybody take the time to love Lucy..? Violet Beauregarde Lonestar is 5 years old and 60 lbs and was saved from a Texas shelter with minutes to spare!  She has a bunch of energy so would benefit from an active owner. Violet is good with dogs but prefers if the other pooch knows some manners! She does great in the car and is an excellent walker, even likes to go running. Although this beautiful girl is sweet and cuddly, she can tend to get over excited at times - so, children should be older/considerate.  She needs an owner who will provide her with rules and has some dog experience. Violet is a sweet happy girl who would like a quiet home to live in with not a lot of visitors. Are you looking for a smart, eager to learn, affectionate big lap dog!? Look no further. Rocky is your guy! At 3 years old and 60 lbs, this guy thinks he is still a puppy. Rocky is incredibly smart and knows several unique commands such as spin around & roll over, but he knows the basics, too, like Sit, Down, Stay, Eat & Speak. Rocky likes other dogs and would probably benefit from living with one as he can be a little insecure at times. He loves his friends and enjoys meeting new ones at the park or the vet. He does however like to protect his home so he prefers a more controlled introduction to new people for that. He has also lived with older children (6 & 12 years old) and did well with them. Rocky sleeps in his crate quietly all night. And he's smart enough to let you know when he needs to use the outdoor restroom by whining. He's good in the yard & doesn't try to jump the fence - he does love to play ball, too. He's young so he would love to have a home where he'd get exercised.
