Story
Hi, I’m Coffee Bean. I was dumped in Dayton, OH to fend for myself and I was pregnant. After several scary days out in the heat, I was rescued by Adopt A Pit. I was the best Mamma to my last litter of 6 babies, but I am so happy to now be spayed, vetted, and have my cherry eye fixed! The people that abandoned me didn’t take care of me, and I am so grateful for love and affection. They didn’t know I love to play fetch, cuddle up on a soft bed, or rest my big, beautiful head on my person’s lap. I am finally feeling so much better but am dreaming of a family or person to say “yes” to me. I am still afraid of things, so need a slow introduction to your house and other pets. I am gaining confidence though and love a good walk or romp in the yard. I’m 3 years old, about 65lbs and I have been told my coat is soft and beautiful, the color of a coffee bean. All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   November 4, 2026, 6:38 pm

We would LOVE to find a FOSTER or ADOPTER for this wonderful young girl. ATHENA (aka Sweet Pea) - found wandering in the middle of a busy road - is a girl approx 1yr young)fully vaccinated, about 43lbs recently spayed ,current with flea/tick/hw prevention -like all of our fostered and adoptable pooches. ATHENA is crate trained and house trained, AND is incredibly smart, fun, loving, healthy, and will actually RELAX (in a sit/stay position) at times. We are learning ALOT about her during her stay at The DOGHOUSE COLLECTIVE (boarding) in Tipp City (Miami County, OH) We KNOW she can be self entertaining, just give her a KONG ball ! And this girl also enjoys the WATER, so if you have a pond or a pool any size will do for her - she's not picky ;-) She hasn't met many other dogs BUT did find a large furry female companion (Darlita Jane) to run/play with (prior to her spay). The boarding staff says she would do GREAT with an AGILITY course given her love for running, play and exercise in general. We know ATHENA does best in a low key, calm environment; however. she always enjoys and looks forward to her playtime with a larger furry female friend who visits (Darla) often. AND, she is comfortable sharing a room (while crated at bedtime)with a boy named PETEY (also waiting for adoption or foster). f you would like to consider either option, send us your application located on the ADOPTME page at Dream4pets.org Our adoptions are typically within 120mile radius of Miami County. This handsome boy is all about human companionship and “nose work”. Toys don’t really excite or interest him, a benebone he may or may not chew…..but meandering the yard, sniffing for new and existing scents is always exciting for him, OR some play time with a furry companion, OR relaxing wherever you are. AND he is always ready & willing to join you on a car ride OR a short walk (on a harness) with mostly “nose to the ground”. Might need to rename him “Sweeper” LOL !! PETEY was with a “short term” 10 day foster for recovery from being neutered, and like all of our furry friends, he is fully vaccinated, free of fleas/ticks, and hw negative. We can tell you PETEY is crate trained, loves to “burrow” if you have a pile of blankets, he is house trained, and seems to prefer (feels safe and secure) with female dogs his size and older with a calm demeanor – that reflects his temperament. He may bark if surprised, or if other dogs are barking… but he is mostly a quiet very well behaved boy AND not a fan of felines. He is currently in boarding (at the DOGHOUSE COLLECTIVE in Tipp City,OH) enjoying playtime with various furry friends – his size and larger. PETEY is a smart boy and quite the extrovert…. Wants to meet everyone he sees and give them the biggest SMILE he has. When you are ready to RELAX, he will do the same by taking a nap or chewing on a bone. He does have his moments of excitement; a zoomie around the yard - sometimes daily. We estimate PETEY to be about 3yrs young, boxer/terrier mix. Our FOSTER and ADOPTION applications online, visit the ADOPTME page at DREAM4pets.org A fenced yard is required for most of our adoptions. Children over 12 of age are recommended for this strong handsome boy. He is currently located in MIAMI COUNTY, OH A fenced yard is required (most of the time) for any adoptable /fostered dog.
