Story
Tank & Chrissy are gorgeous, gentle and very sweet purebred shar peis who were given up to the rescue after their owner in rural Mississippi passed away. They are just wonderful dogs, friendly and loving and very bonded. We would love for them to be adopted together. Tank and Chrissy are not siblings, their owner purchased them from a breeder with the intent to breed and then sell puppies. Chrissy had one litter and then her owner passed away. Wag spayed and neutered Tank and Chrissy once they came to the rescue, Wags also paid for necessary eye surgery for both dogs and they have recovered well. Unfortunately, they are both heartworm positive, but have a mild cases and are being treated. They will be two years old this summer. We have decided to list them now to see if we can find a potential adopter who is willing to adopt them together and either wait for them to finish their heartworm treatment or even adopt them and continue the treatment on their own. They really are extremely easy and just the nicest dogs and deserve a loving home of their own.   At the rescue Tank and Chrissy live with other dogs and are friendly to kids and are well socialized. They love to play together, adore toys and bones and are both major snuggle bugs. We have not listed an adoption fee for Tank and Chrissy—their vet bills have been into the thousands between the eye surgery, spay, neuter, and heartworm treatment, and we are not expecting that to be reimbursed but would like to discuss the fee with any potential adopters. Wags is a struggling 501(c) 3  where one woman cares for 150 dogs in a small town in Mississippi.   For more information on Tank & Chrissy please email mariaeftimiades@yahoo.com     April 19, 2024, 5:00 pm

Story
To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application        HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see        HERE Age: 1 year (as of 4/11/24) Weight: 55 pounds (as of 4/11/24) Location: RI    This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Comet is a young sable and tan Shar Pei and Aussie Doodle mix. When he was first rescued, we had no information about him, but a news story broke a few days later stating that a local woman had posted on social media that he was "free to a good home," because despite being housebroken and good with children and dogs, he was "too active" for a new infant in the house. The very next day, he was found abandoned at a local gas station. Two days later, he came down with parvo, although luckily, he is just fine now. After such a tough beginning, we are hoping that Comet finds an absolutely wonderful and safe adoptive home. His foster mom reports that he is a very playful puppy, who sometimes comes on strong and needs a little time to simmer down. Occasionally, he is so playful that he can be overbearing around younger children. In his original home, he was an inside pet and did very well. When he has encountered cats, he tends to be fixated and is not likely to be a good fit for a home with cats or small animals. Comet is housebroken and comfortable in his kennel or crate. He has had no accidents. For the most part, he walks calmly on a loose leash. He likes to jump on people and furniture, but that is not surprising for such a young dog. We always recommend obedience training for all of our dogs, especially puppies. It is a chance for you both to learn commands together, and the dog gains confidence and self-control along the way. It's also fun! Comet truly deserves a happy and loving adoptive home, where he can blossom into the wonderful and fun adult dog he is going to be. All of us are rooting for him! Medical Note: Comet is a parvo survivor, but he has fully recovered after treatment. He has had no further symptoms, and we are very relieved that he is okay now. Please check with your vet if you should have any questions about this condition and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see      HERE      for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:    www.sosarl.org/aa/ *  *Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor. April 19, 2024, 2:49 pm

She is hoping for a forever family who loves adventure just as much as they love to nap. She is a medium energy dog who enjoys going on walks and hikes followed by snuggling up with her family on the couch. Vixen plays well with dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages, she is still young and learning to take cues from other dogs. She would make a great doggy daycare candidate. With her playful and loving nature Vixen would do well in a home with children. She is initially curious about cats, but quickly ignores them.Vixen is eager to please and very food motivated. She has already mastered crate and house training. She sleeps in her crate overnight and during the work day when her humans are out without a peep. She is working on her leash walking skills. She likes to follow her nose, but redirects well and will look to you for reassurance as she navigates her new environment. With time, patience and consistency she will continue to thrive. Vixen would love a family who will teach her new tricks. Is Vixen your next adventure buddy? Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. Story
Meet Aubie 💙 Aubie is a 10 year old Boxer mix. He had a wonderful home where he was spoiled and loved up until a few months ago and then his world fell apart 😔. Aubie’s owner got very sick and could no longer care for himself or Aubie. Aubie was placed at a local vet clinic for several months in hopes that someday he could return home to his person and the life he had always known but unfortunately that is not going to be possible due to the fact that his previous owner has had to have more surgery and has sadly lost his ability to walk. So now Aubie is looking for a new home where he has never has to worry about the future and he can just focus on being the good boy that he is. Aubie is crate and house trained and would do great in a settled home where he still gets to be active. We think a home with an active person or couple or one with older children would be great for Aubie. He is okay with other dogs but is not really interested in being a doggie friend. Aubie just wants a person to hang with and to play ball non stop 🎾. He is very active for his age so a fenced yard for him to run around in is a high priority especially since he loves to spend time outside. This boy has been through so much recently, we are praying his new family will see this post and give him the opportunity to live out his life in the way he deserves being loved and cared for by his new hero. ❤️
