Story
Gronk is sponsored by Danny Flensborg.Hi, I’m Gronk!I’m a strong, handsome pit bull terrier mix with a loyal heart and a sensitive soul. I may look confident and sturdy on the outside, but I’m actually a thoughtful guy who feels things deeply. I can get overwhelmed by a lot of noise and activity, so I do best in a calm, predictable environment where I can relax and feel secure. The shelter has been a stressful place for me. With all the barking, movement, and constant commotion, it can be hard for me to show adopters who I really am. Because of that kennel stress, I’m currently on medication to help me feel calmer and less overwhelmed. I’ll need to continue that medication for a while after I go home, with the support of a veterinarian to slowly and safely taper me off as I adjust to home life. When I’m in a quiet space and given time to settle in, my true personality shines — affectionate, devoted, and happiest when I’m close to my people.Because I’m a sensitive guy, I’m looking for an experienced dog owner who understands canine body language and knows how to help me feel safe. Sudden movements over my head or being startled awake can make me nervous, so I appreciate gentle handling, patience, and people who respect my space when I’m resting.I’m looking for:• An adult-only home• No cats• A calm household with steady routines• A securely fenced yard (I can be a bit of an escape artist when anxious)My shelter friends are also open to a foster-to-adopt situation so I can decompress outside of the shelter and show you who I truly am in a home environment. Once I’m out of the chaos, my loving and loyal side really comes through. If you’re patient, experienced, and believe trust is built with kindness and consistency, I just might be your perfect match.Love,Gronk If you are interested in meeting Gronk, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday 11am – 6pm and Sunday 11am – 4pm. Story
Meet Yar! Yar is a confident little explorer who is always ready to investigate new toys, new smells, and new friends. He’s playful, silly, and full of puppy enthusiasm. Yar loves to romp around with his siblings before settling in for a cozy nap. With his fun personality and adventurous spirit, Yar would do great in a home ready for all the joy (and laughter) that comes with raising a puppy. Rescued from a high-capacity shelter at just 6 weeks old, this adorable group of puppies has been busy growing, learning, and playing in their foster home. Now 8 weeks old, they’re ready to stomp their way into loving forever homes! These pups are believed to be Shepherd mixes and are expected to grow to around 65 pounds when fully grown. Shepherd-type dogs are known for being intelligent, loyal, athletic, and deeply devoted to their families. They thrive with active households that enjoy walks, adventures, and plenty of playtime. In their foster home, the Dinosaur pups have been socialized with children, dogs, and other household pets, giving them a great start to becoming well-rounded companions. Like all puppies, they are still learning the basics of potty training, crate training, and good puppy manners. Each one has their own personality — but all share the same sweet, playful, and curious spirit.

Story
Zero is Sponsored by Shirlee SittonMeet Zero,At just 6 months old, this handsome pit bull mix is full of love, potential, and puppy charm. Zero found his way back to the shelter through no fault of his own—his previous adopters developed allergies and made the difficult decision to return him. Despite the change, Zero has remained the same sweet, affectionate, and resilient boy.Zero is a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with kids, cats, and most dogs he’s met. He has a gentle, friendly nature and loves being part of the action, whether that’s playtime with furry friends or snuggling up with his people after a long day. This smart pup is already off to a great start with his training! He’s food motivated (which makes learning even more fun) and knows commands like “sit” and “wait,” especially before exiting his crate. With continued guidance and consistency, he’s sure to grow into an amazing lifelong companion. As a young and energetic dog, Zero will need regular exercise to stay happy and healthy. A fenced backyard where he can run, play, and burn off that puppy energy will help him truly thrive. If you’re looking for a loving, playful, and devoted companion, Zero might just be your perfect match. He’s ready to leave shelter life behind and start his next chapter—with a forever family to call his own.If you are interested in meeting Zero, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday 11am – 6pm, Sunday 11am-4pm (Summer Hours). If you’d like to schedule an appointment, check out the pets’ profile on our website at newberganimals.com to fill out an application and email to frontdesk@newberganimals.com.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment.
