Story
Boy oh boy did we take a BIG LEAP! We took 7 boy dogs from Stanislaus County Animal Services. They are part of 87 dogs seized from a hoarding case. These boys have spent their lives in filth and darkness. Many were living under the floor board. Most had to be shaved due to heavy matting. How most of these boys can be so sweet and loving has us STUMPED! They are a little shy but once they get to know you, they beg for love and attention. They will need a little patience as they learn to live the life of a pampered pooch! How do you spell CUTE? We spell it F-O-N-Z-I-E! Fonzie is a handsome 5-year-old, 12-pound, black w/some white, Shih Tzu Mix. He has a white chest and a white goatee. He weighed almost 14 pounds on intake: all matts and filth! He will regular professional grooming. He is a total lap dog and love bug. He wants to follow you wherever you go. He is very vocal and loves to talk to you. He also loves to rub against you like a cat. He will need leash training. He will need more house training, though he is doing well here at the sanctuary. He follows the dogs outside as a group with the command “go potty” and happily does his business. Can you give him the time he needs to adjust to a normal home live? He will delight you! He has been neutered, is microchipped and currently vaccinated. Are you ready for a new BEST FRIEND? Fonzie is ready for you! Story
This little guy would love to be the new love in your life? Meet Rascal. He is a 3 ½ -month-old, 8 pound, white and apricot beauty with dark brown eyes and is a Shih Tzu Mix. We do not think he is hypoallergenic. He was surrendered with his brother Yogi and mother Lucy (both available for adoption) because their family had to many dogs. He is such a sweetheart and wants to be your companion , he seems to do better with women. He will expect to sit on the couch with you and sleep snuggled in your bed. Rascal is on the shy side and will needs lots of love, he will need a playful canine companion to play with and to show him the ropes. He will need to be professionally groomed every 4 – 6 weeks to stay mat free. He is a puppy and will require leash training when he is old enough to be outside safely. He will require housetraining too. Here at the sanctuary, we use the command "Go Potty" before we go outside for potty breaks. Rascal follows right along. This is a good practice to promote good habits. He is scheduled to be neutered, he is microchipped and current on vaccinations. This sweet boy is waiting for you! Story
10 year old, very sensitive and loving dog. We're no longer able to provide all the attention and love that he needs. He's healthy as a horse, never been sick, all vet appts and vaccines, etc is up to date. Has had lots of love and no trauma, etc. We've had him since a puppy. Super smart and loves to lick and snuggle with humans (not so much with other dogs as he's a bit scary and may bark at them to protect you etc). Overall, we haven't had any issues or problems. The kids are older and are pursuing their careers now we are empty nesters ie travel, careers, etc. We want him to have a loving home where he can get 10 more years of love. He's a house doggie and spoiled. He's a great companion for someone living alone, retired local couple, etc. We're in no rush, but want to make sure he's placed in a good home, ideally near Sacramento or Folsom, CA. We'll miss the lil' fella a lot, but it's good for him to have a family that's more stable and provide consistency.

Story
Sparky came to us with a broken front leg. Due to the location of the fracture and the time it had been since his injury, repairing it via surgery would have been very difficult and possibly not successful.  Because of this, amputation was recommended...however the surgeon also mentioned just leaving it as-is since he was walking on it and it didn't seem to affect his mobility.  There is a good likelihood that he will develop arthritis at some point however.  So his adopters would need to be able to manage that if/when it happens. Here is what his fostermom has to say about this cutie: Sparky is a spunky, handsome, brown and white, estimated DOB 3/2023, 14-pound Shih Tzu who has the personality of a goofy teddy bear. He is a talkative guy and likes his opinions to be known. He has shown to be good with adults and children over 5. He gets along with other friendly dogs, but loves to pester the cats in his foster home. So a forever home without cats would suit him best. He’s doing great as far as potty training goes, but will need scheduled back yard potty breaks to get him into the routine in his new home. He came into the rescue with an injured left leg and it is possible he will need medical care in the future (all information will be given to potential adopters). Long walks are not really his thing, but he would love to stroll and sniff around his own fenced yard. Apartments would not be a good fit for him due to his talkative nature. ?
