Dottie gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home. She loves to be cuddled, if you sit down she is ready for your lap and lots of loving and she also enjoys playing. She would be fine in a home as a second dog or as an only dog with lots of human attention. She is a puppy and will need housetraining. She will need leash training when she is fully vaccinated. She is scheduled to be spayed, is current on vaccinations and will be micro-chipped. Meet the handsome Buddy – Will you let lively Buddy brighten your day? This adorable 3.5-year-old, 24-pound he appears to have some Shih Tzu and Terrier in him but that is a guess. He is searching for his happily ever after! Buddy came to AFC after his owner unfortunately passed away, he was with her until the end. He truly is the definition of man's best friend. Buddy is the perfect size for outdoor adventures—whether it's hiking, camping, or just exploring the great outdoors. He's also a great candidate for agility training! Buddy gets along well with other dogs, big and small, but he really loves human company. He's a cheerful walker who leaps for joy when he sees his harness, and he keeps his kennel clean at night, using the doggie door with ease. He’s neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, flea-treated, and dewormed—ready to start his next chapter with a loving family. Could you be Buddy's perfect match? Story
**Betsy is a mixed-breed dog. While she doesn't shed, we cannot guarantee that she is allergy-friendly.**   Betsy is simply irresistible! Betsy is a dignified older gal who is at least 9 years old (but may be a little older). She is the epitome of a darling little old lady and is looking for a quiet home to spend her golden years. Betsy is a total lap dog, but she enjoys her leisurely strolls and would be a perfect companion for a senior person or couple. Betsy currently weighs about 10lbs but is slightly underweight and would benefit from gaining a little. Betsy came to us from a local shelter after she was found at a rural fruit stand. She was skin and bones, covered in mats and foxtails, and in desperate need of some TLC. Even in the rough state she was found, she was such a sweet and trusting girl who just wanted to be loved. We knew the shelter was no place for a girl like her, and we were so grateful a foster family stepped up so that we could save her. Betsy has been thriving in foster care and is ready to find her fur-ever home. Betsy is the sweetest girl around, and her love language is definitely treats. Her go-to trick is to spin in a circle, and she knows how to work a crowd to get everyone to give her some snacks. When she isn't wooing fans, Betsy can be found cozy in her bed in a sunny spot. She is the queen of cuddles and is the perfect little buddy for binge-watching shows or enjoying a good book.  Betsy has done well meeting other mellow pups and could be a good companion for another easy-going dog, but she also has been loving being the spoiled only pup in her foster home. We haven't seen her around cats, but are pretty sure she would do fine living with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction. Due to her age and fragile size, Betsy would do best in an adult-only home or with older kids who can be gentle with her. Betsy is house and crate trained. She has also done well being left for short periods in a contained area of the home. Betsy has been doing well living in an apartment with potty breaks throughout the day. Due to her fur type, Betsy requires routine grooming to prevent matting and to maintain her coat. Her new family will need to be prepared to pay for professional grooming or be willing to do it at home. She has done great going to the groomers while in our care. Betsy has some age-related health conditions, such as dental disease, lameness in her back legs, a mild heart murmur, limited vision, and she had multiple mammary masses removed when she was spayed. At this time, she doesn't require any treatment for any of her conditions, other than needing a dental cleaning and probably some extractions. We understand this is a lot, but we know a special family will be willing to take on her care.  Betsy is truly a tale of how forgiving and wonderful dogs can be, and we can't wait for her to get the forever family that she deserves. If you think that may be you, submit an adoption application today!   Betsy's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. November 26, 2025, 3:33 pm

Story
We have a transport where we will be personally driving our dogs home leaving on 12/13/25 to NorCal, OR, and WA. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Hank to our trip for the right home! Meet Hank Some dogs just have a presence about them — the kind that settles into your heart before you even realize it. That’s Hank. A purebred Shih Tzu, two years of age, weighing right under 18 pounds of steady, soulful love. He is full grown and at a perfectly healthy weight — not overweight, just strong and built beautifully for his size. There’s a quiet confidence in his stance and a sweetness in his eyes that tells you right away, this boy is special. Hank came to us from an older couple who loved him dearly but knew deep down they could no longer keep up with the daily needs of a young, spirited dog. Their decision didn’t come lightly; they adored him and wanted only what was best for him. They knew he deserved more playtime, more adventure, more of everything that makes life full — so they made the selfless choice to reach out for help. From the moment Hank arrived, he has been an absolute joy. He is crate trained, house trained, and sleeps quietly through the night. He isn’t a barker but has a gentle way of communicating when he needs to go out or wants affection. He’s affectionate yet independent, steady yet playful — the perfect balance of companionship and calm. While Hank’s prior family didn’t take him on many walks, he’s now learning that the world outside is a pretty wonderful place. He’s building his confidence on leash, taking in every new smell, sound, and sight with curiosity. We have no doubt that in time, he will absolutely love his daily walks and everything they bring — especially if it means more time with his favorite person. Hank gets along beautifully with other dogs and enjoys their company, but his true happiness lies in the love and connection of his humans. He’s happiest when included, whether that’s riding in the car, sitting nearby while you read or work, or curling up at your feet in the evenings. He doesn’t need constant attention, just your steady presence and the reassurance that he’s home for good. He has that old soul quality about him — the kind that makes you slow down and appreciate the simple moments. A quiet morning coffee on the porch. A nap while soft music plays. The way he looks at you, as if to say, “Thank you for finding me.” Hank’s the kind of companion who will bring balance and comfort into your life. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and emotionally intelligent little soul who will give you his all every single day, then look no further. Hank is ready to love and be loved, and in return, he’ll make every day feel just a little more complete. Adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/_hank It covers his neuter, full veterinary exam, microchip/registration, dental cleaning and polish, antibiotic injection given to aid in the healing of both his neuter and dental cleaning, his current vaccines, and pain meds to go home. It also covers the months of care, grooming costs, and training he has recieved since with us here ❤️

Story
Maggie was an adopt by my sister to prevent euthanasia from an owner who didn’t want her despite having no known health issues. She’s eleven years old, but NEEDS VERY EXPERIENCED OWNER! Her anxiety is extremely severe and she is an escape master from gated places and can jump high despite her age. Needs a lot of attention but is very cuddly and loyal.
