Story
This dog is mean for something huge!!! From the Martinez shelter on the kill list for being a 10 year old scared dog. (He is actually 2 yrs. old.)  He caught the eye of Alison who saw he was going to die and insisted she could help him.  Around a month or more of Duvaline coming to rescue we saw an old lost dog post.  Looked like Duveline the timeline was possible, called her and said we think we have your dog.  IT was!  After going back and forth and learning the living situation in a small apartment a single mom 3 sons she decided to surrender him to us.  So he is now adoptable, But I warn you he is MEANT for something huge.  He lived thru being on the streets for a few weeks avoiding cars and eating what he could find, being red listed at the shelter, all leading him to find his true purpose.  I haven't a guess on what that is but the person will know it when they see him.  OH!!! Duveline is 2  yes two years old!!  Sweet, plays nice with the other dogs all larger than him, stands his ground and a respected part of the pact.   Duvelin had 3 young children in his first home.  good to know info from the foster mom and his saviour!! Duvalin, was scheduled for euthanasia only because he was incredibly nervous in his cage. He had to be sedated and did not adjust to being enclosed. Duvalin cannot be put in a crate. He absolutely hates that. But there isn’t any need to do so because he is housebroken and doesn’t chew on foreign objects. Duvalin was born in September 2020 so he is 2.5 years. He loves to play with dogs of all sizes and toys. He likes walks too. He is just an all-around joy. You can tell when he is happy because his mouth curves into a smile. Duvalin is a great little man. He can show aggression to new people but quickly warms up. He is neutered, microchipped and ready to go. We want a household where at least one person is home during the day. Duvalin, like all dogs, needs a loving appreciative environment where he can thrive.    Come see this pup on Saturdays during adoption event hours. Please email Linda at lbredfire@sbcglobal.net or call WT&F's Dog Team voicemail 707-812-9030 to get a jump on the process, ask questions, and/or to confirm they will be there. Dog adoptions are held outside Napa Petco every Saturday - 12:30pm to 4:00pm. This dog comes spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested negative, and more with an adoption fee/donation to Whiskers, Tails and Ferals in Napa, CA. Story
~12 yr old, 12 lbs Shih Tzu Mix NEUTERED MALE for ADOPTION Meet Yoobi! Yoobi is a 12 year old 12 lb Shih Tzu that came to us from Peninsula Humane Society.   We thought they were confused when they asked us to take a dog, because this guy is obviously Ewok.   This handsome fella recently had a grooming and is looking much better. Pictured was him on intake day.   Yoobi has pretty significant arthritis in his hips and is on a couple of medications for this. His stiffness has improved significantly in the 2 weeks we have had him. We expect his meds to run around $15 a month and he will come with an approximate 3 month supply   His ideal home is a quiet, calm household and he would be fine with other calm pets or as an only pet. He would love to be a lapdog for another senior who, like him, wants to enjoy their retirement years.   This is what his foster home says about him-   “Yoobi loves to be near his person. He loves being told he’s special and a “good boy”. He will seek out your attention if he feels you haven’t paid him enough of it. He can be your shadow or your floor mat as long as he is near you.   Yoobi startles easily so I don’t suggest he live in a home with smaller children or elderly with any walking disabilities. He does NOT like anyone to be up in his face.   Whether you are fixing meals for humans or dogs he tends to be protective. His foster home feeds him away from the other dogs and it’s going great. He can coexist with other dogs but he does not seek out attention from them. He would also be fine as an only pet   Yoobi is a happy boy who loves going places. He walks good on a leash for short trips. His back legs bother him so we haven’t taken him on long walks yet. He can be yappy in the kennel for car rides for the first few minutes but eventually quiets down. He was curious with the cats at our vets office. We can certainly test him again if needed.   He’s a good eater and never turns down food. He takes his meds in a small amount of wet food with no problems.”   If you are interested in this sweet guy send us an email to beourpet@gmail.com  GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: Yes, we think so Crate Trained?: Yes Leash Trained?: Yes Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: Yes or very low shed Good with cats?: Yes, we think so Good with dogs?: Yes but indifferent Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: yes Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 10 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet.  Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service.   We thank Well Pet Vet Clinic for providing most of our veterinary services and give a special thanks to volunteer photographers Tanya, Barbara, Kristy, Christine, Teressa and Natalie.  We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets.  To help our ALL VOLUNTEER team rescue more senior, special needs, medically needy and hospice animals (and a few 'typical' ones along the way, please consider making a tax-deductible (TAX ID 45-4103375) donation online at www.paypal.me/UOH or Venmo @umbrellaof-hoperescue or Zelle beourpet@gmail.com.   You can also buy tees, tanks. sweatshirts, hats and bandannas where all proceeds benefit our animals https://ruff-life-rescue-wear.myshopify.com/collections/umbrella-of-hope We also have an Etsy store where the merchandise is made by volunteers and supporters, changes regularly and 100% of the proceeds benefit our medical fund https://www.etsy.com/shop/Umbrellaofhope Amazon Wish List tinyurl.com/pineapplewish  May 25, 2023, 2:25 pm

Story
Meet CiCi, a friendly and feisty Shi Tsu who is looking for her special person! CiCi is an energetic girl who loves to play and go on walks, but she also loves to cuddle with her special person. She is very smart and treat motivated, and would love a new best friend to work on her training and give her the attention she craves. CiCi is friendly to adults but friendlier to women and more cautious around me. We've not had the opportunity to evaluate her behavior towards children. Cici is dog selective, so would be best as the 'only dog' in her home; she loves to be the center of attention and get all the love. The ideal home for CiCi would be a quiet home with one or two adults, and no other animals. Previous shitzu breed experience will be prioritized. Cici is spayed, microchipped and UTD on vaccines. If interested, please complete an application at jellysplace.org. Approved applicants will be contacted to schedule an introductory meeting.May 29, 2023, 3:44 am

Story
Bogie is a great dog, but very shy at first. It took him almost a week to warm up to me but now he is a little knucklehead. He has a super fun goofy personality. He will sneak up behind you and pat you on the back with his paws. He crosses his front paws and does play bows. There is no doubt he has had a short, scary beginning to his short life but he bonded with me in less than a week and worked his way into my heart. At first he wouldn't even wag his tail or look at me. Now he wags his tail so hard sometimes it's just a beautiful site. The way he looks at me it's like he's talking with his eyes. He's learning what squeak toys and he even let me shave him today. I don't think I've ever seen a dog so covered in mats as he was. Bogie is 1 to 2 years old, shih tzu mix, 11 pounds, white, house trained, vaccinated, microchipped, fine with other dogs, older calm kids and will probably be fine with cats. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
Oliver is a handsome 3-4-year-old, 11 pound, red & white, Shih Tzu / Terrier mix. He has a scruffy, easy-care coat and is not hypoallergenic. He is one unique fellow! This little guy was pulled off a very busy downtown road. He is a very friendly and loving boy. He is sweet and likes to be held. His ideal home is as your one and only love. He follows you all over the place. He loves to snuggle. He doesn't show any interest in play or toys but that could change in a home environment. He is good on a leash and rides well in the car. Oliver keeps his kennel area clean so we expect house training to be easy. Here at the sanctuary, we use the command "go potty" before taking the dogs outside to do their business. Oliver is happy to comply. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Oliver is a wonderful companion. Due to his small size no young children please ages over 10 years, sure-footed adults please. This is one special lovable boy and he is ready for a new beginning. Here is a list of things that should help us answer you in a more timely manner. 1. When you apply please always use the same email address. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. For Petfinders ( scroll down to the biography then click the adoption link) http://animalfriendsconnect.org/adoption-application-dogs/ 5.
