Story
Meet ✨Jazper✨ — a sweet senior Shih Tzu gentleman looking for a soft place to land and a family to spend his golden years with. At around 14 years old, Jazper may be a little older, but he still has so much love left to give. He’s the kind of dog who simply wants comfort, kindness, and someone to love him for exactly who he is. Jazper enjoys the slower, quieter side of life these days. Cozy naps, comfy blankets, gentle affection, and peaceful companionship are some of his favorite things. He has that classic Shih Tzu charm — adorable, expressive, and impossible not to fall in love with once you meet him. Senior dogs like Jazper have a special way of bringing calm, warmth, and unconditional love into a home. At his age, Jazper deserves a family that understands the beauty of giving a senior dog the love and comfort they deserve. While he may not be a high-energy puppy anymore, what he offers instead is something truly special: companionship, gratitude, and a heart full of love. There’s something incredibly rewarding about caring for a dog who simply wants to be near his people and enjoy the little things in life. Jazper is ready to spend his golden years surrounded by warmth, patience, and love. If you’re looking for a gentle companion and a loyal little best friend to share your days with, Jazper may be the perfect addition to your family. ✨ - Around 14 years old - Currently 14lbs - Good with dogs - Adoption fee: $100 This dog is currently housed at our shelter. If you are interested, please come in at your earliest availability during our open hours, no appointment necessary. We do same-day adoptions, do not hold dogs, and work on a first-come, first-served basis as long as it is an excellent fit for both parties. If you have questions or want to possibly schedule an appointment on one of our closed days, you may email dogs@adoptapetfenton.com. Dog adoption fees include spay/neuter, rabies vaccine (if age-appropriate), distemper/parvo combination vaccine, leptospirosis vaccine (if age-appropriate), bordetella vaccine, deworming, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea preventative, a dental cleaning (if necessary), and a microchip. Future vaccines, tests, and treatments will be the responsibility of the adopter.

Story
Meet Muffin and Chewy, two adorable Shih Tzu mixes who have spent years together and are hoping to find a loving home where they can stay side by side. They are in need of a new home because their elderly owner can no longer care for them. Muffin is a gentle 9-year-old sweetheart weighing about 10 pounds. She can be a little shy at first and prefers to take her time getting comfortable with new people and situations. When she feels safe, her playful side shines through! She loves playing fetch, exploring the outdoors, and showing off commands like sit and lay down. Muffin is happiest with patient, understanding people who will let her build trust at her own pace.Chewy is a 7-year-old bundle of personality weighing around 6 pounds. He absolutely loves treats, attention, and being close to his people. Cheerful and energetic, Chewy is always ready to make sure he gets his share of affection—and maybe a little extra! While he enjoys cuddles and pets, he prefers keeping all four paws on the ground and isn`t a fan of being carried.Together, Muffin and Chewy make the perfect pair. They clearly enjoy each other’s company and have formed a strong bond over the years. They provide comfort, companionship, and confidence to one another, and we would love to see them adopted together. Both dogs are pad-trained and have also done well going potty outside. They previously lived with an elderly owner and have adapted well to their routine. They are smart, loving dogs who have learned commands in the past and would likely continue to thrive with gentle guidance, patience, and plenty of positive reinforcement. They are both very sweet dogs and have been around children generally ages 8 and older. They have had limited interaction with other dogs and animals, so their reactions in those situations are somewhat unknown. They are good alert watch dogs and bark when people walk past the house or ring the doorbell, but they have never shown aggression toward people. We would like to find a great new home for them together with someone who will provide them with a more fulfilled life where they are loved and have more access to the outdoors.Estimated birthday~~6/15/17_____Standard and Special Breed adoption fees includes age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm test, spay/neuter and microchip! Please click on the links for adoption application and more information:paawarren.org/adopt/adoption-application-f

Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. MEET HAZY:  Meet Hazy: The Sweetest, Snuggliest Introvert Looking for Her Quiet Forever Hello, my name is Hazy. I’m about 2 years and 7 months old, and my journey hasn’t been an easy one. I was found as a stray in Detroit, scared, confused, and covered in painful mats. I didn’t know kindness, and the world felt very big and loud. My time was almost up until my angels at Furever Tails Animal Rescue saved me. Now, I’m safe in a foster home, and I’m learning what love feels like. I’m ready to find my person—my true forever home. Here’s what you should know about me: My Personality:I am a certified introvert and a gentle soul. I’m not a social butterfly; I’m more of a "stay-at-home-and-snuggle" kind of girl. Loud noises, busy places, and lots of strangers are too much for my nervous heart. I dream of a calm, low-key home where the vibe is peaceful. My Friends: I can politely coexist with other calm, mellow dogs my size and with cats, as long as they respect my space (I’m not much for playdates). But I don’t need animal siblings—I would be perfectly happy as your one-and-only, soaking up all your attention. My Home Needs:Because I startle easily, I *must* have a securely fully fenced yard. I should never be left outside alone or tethered. Social walks are scary for me, so my outdoor time will be best in my own safe yard. My People: I am currently living with a wonderful, patient foster family with two women and two rescue-savvy teens. I do best with calm, predictable adults or older teens who understand shy dogs. A home without lots of visitors or chaotic energy is my ideal. The Most Important Thing: I am *not a "turn-key" dog*. I will need time, immense patience, and quiet consistency to learn to trust. I am not recommended for first-time dog owners. But I promise you this: once I know I am safe with you, my love is boundless. I will become your most loyal shadow, your bed-snuggling expert, and your quiet, devoted companion. I am looking for a hero—not someone who wants a party, but someone who offers a peaceful harbor. Someone who sees that a shy, timid dog has a huge capacity for love waiting to bloom. If you have a quiet heart and a quiet home, and you’re ready to commit to earning the trust of a sweet, sensitive soul… then I might be your girl. Could you be my safe place? Interested in giving Hazy her happily ever after? Please fill out an adoption application and we will get back to you shortly. Share to help Hazy find her perfect, patient match! Story
Meet Milo! Milo is a handsome and very active, 2-year-old Bichon Frise/Miniature Poodle mix weighing approximately 18 pounds. This happy-go-lucky boy was surrendered when his previous owner no longer had enough time for him, and now he's ready to find a family that can give him the love, attention, and active lifestyle he deserves. Milo is a social butterfly who enjoys meeting new people and making friends wherever he goes. He has a cheerful personality and a zest for life that makes him a joy to be around. He does well with other dogs but has barked at the cats in his foster home, so he may not be the best candidate for feline friends. This playful and energetic little guy enjoys staying active and would love a family that shares his enthusiasm for fun and adventure. He enjoys leash walks and is always ready to explore, although he can be enthusiastic enough to pull on the leash. Because of this, he'll benefit from someone that can handle his energy, continued training and a family that is willing to help reinforce good walking manners. Milo has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners and has adjusted well to life in foster care. Like many young dogs, he can become excited and may jump up to greet people, so continued guidance and consistency will help him continue to mature into a well-mannered companion. He can actually jump vertically, very high, but has not attempted to clear a 4' fence, although he can jump to see over 4' high. Due to his tendency to take off if given the opportunity, Milo would do best with a securely fenced physical yard where he can safely burn off energy and enjoy outdoor time. He is not a good candidate for an invisible fence. He would also do best with older, dog-savvy children who can respect his playful nature and help set him up for success. He is also a tad too vocal at times for an apartment lifestyle.  As a Bichon Frise/Poodle mix, Milo will require regular grooming to keep his coat healthy and looking its best. Milo is searching for an active family that will include him in their daily adventures, continue helping him learn and grow, and most importantly, love him for the rest of his life. In return, he'll provide plenty of smiles, companionship, and unconditional love. If you're looking for a fun-loving, social companion with a big personality packed into a small package, Milo may be the perfect addition to your family! We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.
