IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. MEET HAZY:  Meet Hazy: The Sweetest, Snuggliest Introvert Looking for Her Quiet Forever   Hello, my name is Hazy. I’m about 2 years and 7 months old, and my journey hasn’t been an easy one. I was found as a stray in Detroit, scared, confused, and covered in painful mats. I didn’t know kindness, and the world felt very big and loud. My time was almost up until my angels at Furever Tails Animal Rescue saved me.   Now, I’m safe in a foster home, and I’m learning what love feels like. I’m ready to find my person—my true forever home.   Here’s what you should know about me:   My Personality: I am a certified introvert and a gentle soul. I’m not a social butterfly; I’m more of a "stay-at-home-and-snuggle" kind of girl. Loud noises, busy places, and lots of strangers are too much for my nervous heart. I dream of a calm, low-key home where the vibe is peaceful.   My Friends:  I can politely coexist with other calm, mellow dogs my size and with cats, as long as they respect my space (I’m not much for playdates). But I don’t need animal siblings—I would be perfectly happy as your one-and-only, soaking up all your attention.   My Home Needs: Because I startle easily, I *must* have a securely fully fenced yard. I should never be left outside alone or tethered. Social walks are scary for me, so my outdoor time will be best in my own safe yard.   My People:  I am currently living with a wonderful, patient foster family with two women and two rescue-savvy teens. I do best with calm, predictable adults or older teens who understand shy dogs. A home without lots of visitors or chaotic energy is my ideal.   The Most Important Thing:  I am *not a "turn-key" dog*. I will need time, immense patience, and quiet consistency to learn to trust. I am not recommended for first-time dog owners. But I promise you this: once I know I am safe with you, my love is boundless. I will become your most loyal shadow, your bed-snuggling expert, and your quiet, devoted companion.   I am looking for a hero—not someone who wants a party, but someone who offers a peaceful harbor. Someone who sees that a shy, timid dog has a huge capacity for love waiting to bloom.   If you have a quiet heart and a quiet home, and you’re ready to commit to earning the trust of a sweet, sensitive soul… then I might be your girl.   Could you be my safe place?   Interested in giving Hazy her happily ever after?   Please fill out an adoption application and we will get back to you shortly.   Share to help Hazy find her perfect, patient match!   #AdoptDontShop  #RescueDog  #IntrovertDog  #SpecialNeedsDog  #FureverTails  #DetroitRescue  #DiamondInTheRough  #PatientHomeNeeded HAZY is: Current on age appropriate vaccinations.DewormedReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedSpayed ADOPTION FEE: Sponsored but a donation is always appreciated    FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. Story
Meet Sophia! Sophia is a beautiful 6-year-old, 11lb purebred AKC Shih Tzu looking for the patient and loving family she has always deserved. Coming from a breeder who was finally shut down after years of irresponsible breeding practices, Sophia spent her life in a home with 29 dogs and had very little exposure to the outside world or life as a cherished companion animal. Because of her past, Sophia can initially be shy and reserved when adjusting to new people and environments. However, her social skills have come a long way in foster care, and once she feels comfortable, her sweet and happy personality truly begins to shine. She has a quiet, gentle demeanor and enjoys being near her people in a calm and peaceful environment. Sophia is seeking a quieter home with adults only or older, dog-savvy children who can respect her sensitive nature and allow her the time she needs to settle in and build trust. She has blossomed tremendously with patience, routine, and consistency, and her foster family has loved watching her confidence continue to grow. Having never really learned leash skills prior to rescue, Sophia will REQUIRE a secure physical fenced yard for her safety. She is not a good fit for tethering or invisible fencing, and extra care should always be taken while she continues learning that the world can be a safe place. Sophia does well with other dogs and seems to enjoy the comfort of canine companionship. She also does not mind cats. She has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners and is learning more every day about what it means to simply be loved and spoiled as part of a family. As a Shih Tzu, Sophia will require regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and comfortable. Most of all, Sophia is looking for a family willing to give her the love, patience, and kindness she missed out on for so many years. In return, she will reward you with quiet companionship, loyalty, and a heart full of gratitude. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. Meet Mocha! Mocha is a gentle little soul looking for the patient, understanding family he has always deserved. This adorable 11lb Shih Tzu/Poodle mix was born on 03/30/2021 and came from a breeder who was finally shut down after years of breeding. Before rescue, Mocha lived in a home with 29 dogs and had very little exposure to the outside world or life as a cherished family companion. He has a quiet, gentle demeanor and enjoys simply being near his people in a calm and peaceful environment. Mocha is seeking a quieter home with adults only or older, dog-savvy children who can respect his sensitive nature and allow him time to settle in at his own pace. He has become much more confident with consistency, patience, and routine, and his foster family has loved watching him continue to blossom. Having never learned how to walk comfortably on a leash, Mocha will REQUIRE a secure physical fenced yard for his safety. He is not a candidate for tethering or invisible fencing, and extra caution should always be taken when outside while he continues building confidence and learning new experiences. Good With Kids: Over 16 please Good With Other Dogs: No Good With Cats: *See Below Housetrained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Walks Nicely On A Leash: Yes Knows Basic Commands: Some Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Couch Potato Special Needs: *Blind Physical Fence: N/A Favorite Toy / Activity: Couch time with human Arrival story: Moe’s human sadly passed away and he is bunking with relatives until a suitable new home is found. Approximate age / Weight: About 9 yrs old / 25 lbs. Moe's Vibe: Your One-and-Only Couch King Little body. Huge heart. Professional cuddler. Retired gentleman seeking his forever soft place to land. Moe is an adorable senior Shih Tzu mix who recently lost his beloved person, and now he’s looking for a calm, cozy home where he can devote himself to his human all over again. He’s what we lovingly call a “one-person dog” — the kind who bonds deeply and says, “You. You are my whole world.” • Expert couch companion • Low-key, polite with affection (not a slobbery kisser — a true gentleman) • Loves lounging in the grass, sunshine naps, and zooming in the yard • Totally fine with grooming and baths • Sleeps quietly in his crate near your bed like a little guardian loaf (Would prefer to be in your bed) Moe clearly prefers female energy and truly thrives when he has a woman to attach his sweet little soul to. A single woman or a calm couple (where he can pick his favorite 😉) would be perfect. *Blindness – Moe has age-onset blindness (SARDS), and honestly? He’s handling it like a champ. He’s learning his surroundings and uses voices, foot taps, and clapping to navigate. He may bump into things now and then, but once he knows the layout, he moves with growing confidence. What he needs most is: • A stable, consistent home layout • Patience while he memorizes his space • A human who talks to him (he follows voices beautifully) Blind dogs don’t feel sorry for themselves — Moe still loves the outdoors, rolling in grass, and enjoying the world in his own way. Other Animals? • Best as an only dog – other dogs tend to feel “in his way” • A calm, independent cat? He’ll politely pretend they don’t exist. Mutual agreement. Very mature. New Home: A quiet, cushy retirement home where he can have the run of the house, be someone’s shadow and heart dog and live a peaceful, predictable life full of couches, sunny naps and love. CONTACT: Please contact wtdr@waggintailsdogrescue.org with any questions or submit adoption application via our website www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoption-application. ADOPTION INFO: We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Meet Kirby, this 14 yr old spunky Shih Tzu boy. It’s difficult to tell he is over 14 yrs old. He’s very agile enjoying several walks and exploring the yard every day. He’s in a foster home with two other dogs, one small and one medium size dog. They get along without a lot of interaction. He enjoys barking at the window with our girl. Kirby will do well in a quieter home with older accepting dogs and kids 10 and older. Place an application to see if Kirby may be a fit for your home. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. May 10, 2026, 9:07 am
