Story
***Adoption Pending*** ***Nash is in a foster home, so he is not at the kennel. If you are interested in him, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you.*** Someone looks so proud after getting all groomed! Nash is estimated to be about 3 years old and weighs 19 pounds. Meet Nash, this sweet and kind boy is a true gentleman, and he's on the lookout for his forever family. He's more of a laid-back lounge lover who's happy to kick back and relax, especially in this warmer weather, he prefers the air conditioning thank you very much! Nash would love someone who is home a lot, as one of his favorite things to do is follow you around, offering cute company wherever you go. As you can see from one of his pictures, he was very matted when he came to the rescue the poor muffin, but boy, did he feel better after getting groomed. He was wonderful on the car ride and the groomer said he did great, though he didn't love his paws getting done, but was still a very good boy. His foster family says he likes their older chihuahua and likes to lay close, so if you have another furry friend in the home, Nash would love to meet them. He is doing well with his potty training but will of course have to learn your routine. Nash would love it if you wanted to meet him. He will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old with his more chill nature. If you are interested in Nash and are at least 21 years old, fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. MEET HAZY:  Meet Hazy: The Sweetest, Snuggliest Introvert Looking for Her Quiet Forever Hello, my name is Hazy. I’m about 2 years and 7 months old, and my journey hasn’t been an easy one. I was found as a stray in Detroit, scared, confused, and covered in painful mats. I didn’t know kindness, and the world felt very big and loud. My time was almost up until my angels at Furever Tails Animal Rescue saved me. Now, I’m safe in a foster home, and I’m learning what love feels like. I’m ready to find my person—my true forever home. Here’s what you should know about me: My Personality:I am a certified introvert and a gentle soul. I’m not a social butterfly; I’m more of a "stay-at-home-and-snuggle" kind of girl. Loud noises, busy places, and lots of strangers are too much for my nervous heart. I dream of a calm, low-key home where the vibe is peaceful. My Friends: I can politely coexist with other calm, mellow dogs my size and with cats, as long as they respect my space (I’m not much for playdates). But I don’t need animal siblings—I would be perfectly happy as your one-and-only, soaking up all your attention. My Home Needs:Because I startle easily, I *must* have a securely fully fenced yard. I should never be left outside alone or tethered. Social walks are scary for me, so my outdoor time will be best in my own safe yard. My People: I am currently living with a wonderful, patient foster family with two women and two rescue-savvy teens. I do best with calm, predictable adults or older teens who understand shy dogs. A home without lots of visitors or chaotic energy is my ideal. The Most Important Thing: I am *not a "turn-key" dog*. I will need time, immense patience, and quiet consistency to learn to trust. I am not recommended for first-time dog owners. But I promise you this: once I know I am safe with you, my love is boundless. I will become your most loyal shadow, your bed-snuggling expert, and your quiet, devoted companion. I am looking for a hero—not someone who wants a party, but someone who offers a peaceful harbor. Someone who sees that a shy, timid dog has a huge capacity for love waiting to bloom. If you have a quiet heart and a quiet home, and you’re ready to commit to earning the trust of a sweet, sensitive soul… then I might be your girl. Could you be my safe place? Interested in giving Hazy her happily ever after? Please fill out an adoption application and we will get back to you shortly. Share to help Hazy find her perfect, patient match! Story
Meet Italy!Italy is a 4 year old, Neutered Male, Shih Tzu!Little Italy looks like an Ewok but has the heart and spirit of a Wookie! He's small but has a big dogs spirit. He's a very playful guy and walks great on a leash. Due to a lack of socialization in the past, Italy has some baggage and is going to need a very specific home ready to work with him and develop a stable routine. Italy loves people but takes time to earn trust with new people when it comes to handling. Once you are in his inner circle he's quite tolerant.Italy has significant resource guarding behaviors with his food and treats. He will need a home diligent when feeding and giving treats that he will be respectfully left alone and possibly fed in a crate for meal times. Due to his guarding behaviors he will do best in a home without other dogs, but should do ok with cats (although he may be playful?). To make sure everyone in the home remains safe, Italy will do best without children. With time and patience, we feel that Italy can develop into a loved and cherished family pet, he just needs a chance to form a bond with his people and gain some confidence in himself.Visit our website to fill out the adoption application: https://bit.ly/HSofMacombadoptionapplicationIf your application was approved and you received a call back from the Humane Society of Macomb for a meet and greet, plan to take the animal home that day. We cannot place puppies/dogs on hold to come pick up for another day.All Humane Society of Macomb animals are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, tested and microchipped.Thank you for showing an interest in our pets. We can never guarantee the breeds of the animals. We do not DNA test. Please feel free to call us with any questions.

Between his shaggy good looks, charming personality, and the fact that his tongue is almost always hanging way out of his mouth, Rye has a way of making everyone who meets him smile. Seriously, we dare you to look at him and not laugh. Rye definitely looks like he belongs in an animated movie. Whether he's trotting around with his tongue flopping in the breeze or giving you that classic goofy Shih Tzu expression, he's a walking dose of happiness. Story
Cookie came to us when one of our directors found her weaving in and out of busy traffic. No one around was able to get her , but thankfully she was lured with a cookie from our director's pocket, so she was named Cookie. She loves all people and animals. Estimated around a year old, she is spayed, microchipped and has her rabies vaccine. Beautiful browns, creams and red. Be aware - she is an escape risk, if let outdoors unleashed she will run for miles from one distraction to the next and therefore requires a fenced-in property. She loves everyone she meets, not sure there is a kinder heart than hers.

Story
Meet Harper!Harper is a sweet, happy little Shih Tzu girl who is about 8 years old and ready to find a loving home of her own. With her adorable black-and-white coat and cheerful personality, she brings joy wherever she goes.Don`t let her age fool you—Harper still loves to have fun! She enjoys playing with her toys and is always happy to spend time with her people. She has a gentle, easygoing nature and seems to do well around lower-energy dogs who match her relaxed pace.Because Harper is a small senior dog, we think she would do best in a home with older, respectful children who understand how to be gentle with a petite companion. She may be able to live with cats, but introductions should be carefully supervised as she settles into her new environment.Harper is looking for a family who will appreciate her sweet spirit, playful side, and the love only a senior dog can give. If you`re searching for a loyal little companion to share your days, Harper may be the perfect match! If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $250.
