Meet Winston! This 3-year-old, 16-pound shih tzu mix is the definition of a happy-go-lucky dude! Winston is a fellow that is always on the move. His eager curiosity is so much fun to experience. He doesn't hesitate to seek out affection and food is definitely the way to his heart. He does the cutest little spin when he gets excited for his treats which he takes gently. Winston knows how to sit and is a very capable guy. Winston will benefit from daily exercise and continued training in his new home. He is very tolerant of handling and will thrive in an active family. Give this little man a ball to chase and he's one delighted dog. Winston will need to be groomed on a regular basis and those costs should be taken into consideration when adopting him. We promise you he'll repay you with years of happy memories to come! Based on our evaluation, we feel Winston would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids of all ages. He may have the ability to live in a home with other animals and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Think he could be the pup for you? Head to greatlakesdogrescue.com and submit your application for our wonderful Winston!

Story
Meet Lulu 🐾✨ We know—Lulu is VERY cute. 😍 But she’s more than just an adorable face. She’s a sensitive, complex little gal who will need some time, patience, and understanding to learn that her new world is safe. Lulu can be very unsure of strangers and easily overwhelmed by too much going on around her. When life gets a little too busy, she’d much rather find a quiet place to decompress. She’ll need a family willing to let her build trust at her own pace rather than expecting an instant best friend. Once Lulu is comfortable, there’s a fun, energetic girl waiting to come out! She loves playing fetch and has done well playing with other dogs, including a big Lab. She is crate trained and does best in a smaller, cozy crate, as larger spaces can make her nervous. Lulu will also need regular grooming to keep her looking fabulous. ✨ She may take a little more time to figure out, but for someone willing to get to know her and discover what makes her feel safe, Lulu has so much potential. ❤️ • Around 2 years old • Currently 10 lbs • Good with dogs and cats • Adoption fee: $400 This dog is in foster. Please email dogs@adoptapetfenton.com to schedule an appointment. Include information about your family and pets, what you are looking for in a canine companion, how you plan to exercise and train this dog, and why this specific dog seems like a good fit for your family. We offer same-day adoptions, do not place holds, and work on a first-come, first-served basis to ensure the best fit for both the dog and adopter. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccines, deworming, preventatives, heartworm testing (if age-appropriate), microchip, and dental cleaning if needed. Future veterinary care will be the adopter’s responsibility.

Story
What a happy girl! Daisy is estimated to be about 6 years old and weighs 27 pounds. Meet Daisy, she has the waggiest tail and is so fun spirited! Sadly, her owner had to go into an assisted living facility, and Daisy found herself at the rescue. She came to us quite matted, but she looks just wonderful now after a nice trip to the groomer. Daisy is very social and likes to greet everyone with her friendly manner. This girl also loves her walks, she happily trots along and likes to use her nose too and smell everything. She is a little rotund at the moment though and could definitely lose a few pounds, so it would be great if her new family likes to walk and maybe play with her, she just loves toys. Daisy can't wait to be back in a home with someone to love her, she really is going to make such a nice little friend. She would love it if you came to meet her. She will need a home where any children are at least 13 years old as she lived in a quieter, low key type of home and that is what she is used to. If you are interested in Daisy and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Who is that cutie peeking at you with those teefers! Essie is estimated to be about 4 years old and weighs 13 pounds. Poor sweet Essie seems afraid of the world right now. As you can see from some of her before pictures, she came to us very matted and quite shut down. Every day she is getting a little braver and is opening up more and we are very proud of her. One of Essie's favorite things is if you sit on the floor, she likes to slowly come over and snuggle on your lap, one of our volunteers even got some kisses on her arm during snuggle time and it made her day! Essie is afraid of fast movements, so you really have to move slow with her, that is very important. She is starting to get used to a leash so that is nice for potty time. For her grooming appointment she was a bit anxious but settled after a little time. Essie was not too happy about having her feet done, but who can blame her, her feet and legs were a terrible, matted mess. She will need a patient adopter who will give her the time she needs to feel safe, help build her confidence and let her blossom. Essie will need a quiet, adult only, more predictable type home. We also want to keep Essie safe, and with her being so scared, we feel she is a flight risk and will need a fenced in yard. She would love it if you came to meet her, she can't wait for a family to love and who will care for her like she deserves. If you are interested in Essie and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. ***Pongo is in a foster home, so he is not at the kennel. If you are interested in him, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you.*** Pongo is the softest boy ever, you can't help but want to pet him all the time! He is estimated to be about 12 years old and weighs 16 pounds. What a very smart boy and even though he is a senior (12 years young), you'd never know it by looking at his energy. He loves going on multiple walks a day, there is just so much to look at and to smell, Pongo thinks walks are the best. He has been diagnosed with stage 2 renal failure and will need a special diet for the rest of his life, but it doesn't slow him down. He likes to play with his toys and especially his tennis balls. He has very good house manners and sleeps all night. His foster mom has not seen any separation anxiety. He rides in the car very well and has no problem being crated but prefers the door open. At night he sleeps either on one of his beds or in a crate with the door open. Pongo hasn't been around other cats or dogs while with in foster but has seen other wildlife, deer, cranes, and turkeys, and hasn't tried chasing them. His “mom” noticed he is not trusting of men so expect to give him extra time to get to know you. He is used to a quieter, more low-key type of home, so any children need to be at least 13 years old. Pongo would love it if you would like to meet him, he would like be part of a loving family again for his golden years. If you are interested in Pongo and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. Story
Meet Candy! Candy is an 11-pound Shih Tzu mix estimated to be between 8 and 10 years old—and true to her name, she is an incredibly sweet girl. Candy was found in Detroit by Detroit Pit Crew in heartbreaking condition. Her fur was severely matted, she was covered in fleas, and she had significant hair loss. Despite everything she had endured, her spirits remained strong. Candy’s determination and will to live were clear from the very beginning, and she has continued to show everyone just how resilient she is. Candy does well with other dogs and has shown no concerns around cats. Because she is an older, petite lady, a home with older, dog-savvy children would be the best fit. She has a good understanding of house manners, is crate trained, and rides well in the car. During her veterinary evaluation, Candy was found to have a low-grade heart murmur. Fortunately, it does not slow her down and does not require treatment. She has completed comprehensive bloodwork and is otherwise healthy and happy. Candy is also scheduled for a dental cleaning, spay surgery, and removal of a mammary mass as part of her thorough care. Candy may have had a difficult past, but she refuses to let it define her. This determined little survivor is looking forward to an amazing future with a family who will cherish her and give her the love, comfort, and security she has always deserved. Candy is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedScheduled for spay, mammary mass removal, and a dental on 9/11.ADOPTION FEE: $300 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS. ##2832751##
