Baxter won’t be winning any races, but he is sure to win your heart. Baxter came to us unable to walk. He has worked hard and with the help of cold laser therapy and the staff at Tomahawk Animal Hospital, Baxter can now stand and take steps. Baxter would LOVE a home with another dog to play with. He loves playing. We are looking for a special home that will embrace Baxter’s uniqueness. He is 8-10 years old and 17 lbs., a little shaggy mix. DOB:  3/30/24                                 Current Weight(as of  7/12): 4.6 Lbs Adoption Fee: $350 includes 1 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Lancaster, or as his foster has nicknamed him, Lanny is very good in his kennel, gets along with all the fosters bigger dogs. Lanny really likes small dogs as a romp buddy, loves exploring the yard and can use a doggie door. We are still working on potty training, but he is pretty good most of the time. Loves to snuggle with anyone who is willing to hold him. He loves to play with toys especially balls. Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out to potty. Please make sure that you have a “potty plan” in place if considering adoption. All of our puppies have been spay/neuter, wormed, microchipped, and given age appropriate vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting/adopting one of them just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.  Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Meet Ostrich! This sweet senior girl is looking for a new foster or she would even love to find her new furever home! She is roughly 10yrs old and a small breed poodle girl. Ostrich has done great with the other small dogs in the home. Her foster said she is the sweetest girl and loves to be held on her back like a baby and will even trust fall into you! She is potty trained but she is blind from her diabetes so it may take her a few days to get used to her new surroundings but her foster said as long as you take her out when she alerts you there will be no issues! Also due to her diabetes, Ostrich requires insulin injections daily from an experienced person as she is not the most cooperative with them.
