Princess & Precious are an adorable pair of mother/daughter tiny Shih Tzu mixes. Precious the Mom is 10 and scruffy, and Princess the daughter is 9 and smooth-coated. They both have brown heart-shaped patches of fur on their sides. Both are quite friendly, snuggly and cuddly, and make excellent alarm clocks/burglar alarms. Both love to eat anything you give them. Both are friendly to other dogs, and people of all ages. No idea about their opinion of cats. They both sleep on my bed, either under the covers or wrapped up in a blanket on top. Both are potty trained. They came from an older person home that was moving to an assisted living facility and not able to take the dogs. Vet care was sadly lacking at their former home, and both dogs had to have several teeth removed. Princess (the smooth-coated daughter) has a dry left eye and will need drops for that for life. These are delightful cuties who want nothing more than to love and be loved forevermore. And of course well-fed. They are fully vetted, microchipped, spayed and dental done. Cardamom has already proven she will do anything for the ones she loves. Before coming to rescue, Cardamom was kept outside year-round. During the bitter cold of winter, she gave birth to and raised three puppies outdoors. Somehow, thanks to her incredible devotion and survival instinct, all three puppies made it through. By the time she arrived here, every hair on her body was matted. Her coat was one solid tangle, so she had to be completely shaved to give her a fresh start. Her hair is still short right now, but it will grow back beautifully. At around 3 years old, Cardamom is a sweet Shih Tzu who gets along wonderfully with other dogs and cats. She has left her difficult past behind and is ready to enjoy the comfortable life she always deserved. Oreo is 4 years old and weighs about 14lbs. He is so playful and loves his human immensely. He likes to hug with his arms! It is so cute. He crates well and rides well in the car. He is housetrained with a doggy door. Oreo is just a dear little guy who wants a quiet home, not too busy. No kiddos for Oreo. He gets scared too easily and little children would make him scared. He would love to be your little lap dog. Oreo has resource guarding issues so only an experienced pet owner or a home as an only pet would be appropriate. Walter may be a little shy and unsure at first, but give him some patience, love, and reassurance, and you’ll get to see his sweet personality blossom. Once he knows he’s safe, this little guy is happiest curled up beside his person, enjoying a cozy nap and simply being close to someone he loves. Walter is kennel trained and does well with other dogs, cats, and kids. He’s a gentle little guy who doesn’t ask for much—just a safe place to land and someone who will love him unconditionally.
