Shih Tzu puppies and dogs in Battle Ground, Washington

Due to circumstances out of our control, my wife an I can no longer give our beloved dogs the love and care they deserve. Lester is a good boy. He is a 12 year old Shizu. He is a blend of young puppy and grouchy old man. At 12 years old we acknowledge he is a senior but hope that he still has many good years ahead of him. He is a cuddle bug like his brother and loves to nuzzle up to his person. He does have strong attachments and bouts of anxiety when his family isn't visible. Lester has struggled with competitiveness with other dogs in the past, also, oddly, wheels which when in motion in certain situations (scooters, bikes, others) are committing some sort of crimes in his book. He loves watermelon and enjoys fetch. Lester would love to go on a walk with you, jumping with joy that you've included him. We would love for the two of them to be adopted together, but understand that isn't feasible in all situations. Thank you for your consideration. We love these dogs.

*only asking $700 for adoption fee* Mac is a sweetheart who loves his cuddles! He can be very mellow, but also loves to play! He is well behaved and loves human affection. He has been good with our little one and other dogs, unsure about cats as we do not have any. We adopted Mac in October of 2025 and we were told he is 4-6 years old. He was not house trained but we have worked hard on it & have not had any accidents in over a month. He will require patience on walks, he gets very excited about them. Crate training is still a work in progress but he will go in when told and we have had no issues with him going potty or chewing his dog beds. We love Mac, but we were wrong on our timing for adopting him. We have an 18 month old toddler that takes up most (all) of our time and we feel that Mac should be in a home where he gets the attention he needs and someone who can focus on training him on a leash to get him out everyday to do his favorite activity, which is go for walks.

Peter Cottontail is a 13-lb pocket gentleman with main-character energy and zero interest in drama. He’s estimated around 5 years old (birthday TBD because rescue life keeps things mysterious), and he’s possibly a Shih Tzu / wire-haired terrier mix… or maybe a rare woodland sprite who moonlights as a nap consultant. No promises on breed, but we can promise this: Peter is an absolute delight. Big, bold dogs? Peter’s unbothered. Small, sassy dogs? Peter’s still unbothered. He’s confident, socially savvy, and gives off “I’ve got this” vibes wherever he goes, whether he’s greeting new friends or simply wandering the yard like he’s inspecting the property lines of his kingdom. Peter is also the kind of dog who makes you wonder why everyone can’t be this easy to love. He’s crate trained, sleeps peacefully through the night, and is a total pro for grooming. Car ride? Hop in, your chauffeur awaits. New environment? Noisy and busy place? Peter handles it all with ease. He especially enjoys attention, and will happily wiggle his way into your heart while pretending he’s being cool and casual about it. On leash, he’s responsive and easy to guide, and keeps a great walking pace. With dogs, he’s calm and confident, reads social cues well, and is happy to share affection or treats without getting possessive. He’s not here to start trouble… he’s here to sniff, stroll, and look charming while doing it. Cats? Peter is sweet, curious, and respectful. He did wonderful when introduced to a house cat. He was gently interested, but easily redirected for cuddles or a sniff elsewhere. He’d likely do well with dog-savvy cats, or calm, cat-independent cats who won’t mind a tiny bunny-named roommate politely investigating their existence. Apartment friendly? Yes. Kid friendly? We can’t imagine why not. Peter’s overall vibe is confident and loving, and he’s been wonderfully easy to handle. Meet Benji Bear — estimated 1 year old, 15.5 pounds, part Shih Tzu, part Havanese, part… gremlin? Honestly, we’re still running the DNA test for “chaotic little man with main-character energy.” Benji is special — and he knows it. He likes what Benji likes… until he doesn’t. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there!
