Story
What my friends at OHS say about me:I'm a petite lady but pack a ton of personality into this small package! All this change in my life has been really tough on me, I can't help but be cautious and worried. I'm longing for an understanding person, with a warm bed, treats and the willingness to give me time and space to settle in- could that be you?Are you an introvert? Me too! Hanging out at home and in the company of my few favorite people will be ideal for me, as novelty can be worrisome.Despite my small, portable size, I am often sensitive to being fussed over and held.I have lived with other dogs in my last home.Shy and Nervous: I can be worried about new people, new surroundings and touch. I prefer to take things at my own pace and will need to live in a calm environment.I have chronic skin issues which will require long term management. It can be caused by different factors such as fleas, food or environmental factors.I have been diagnosed with dental disease which means I may need dental cleanings or extractions in the future.I have been diagnosed with chronic dry eye (KCS), which will require long-term medical management. The type of home I'm looking for:I need to go to an adult only home.I am not for the first time dog owner. Someone very familiar with canine body language is a must for me.It could be with you! Click here to learn about the adoption process. Story
Cinnamon and her 2 sisters are proof that little dogs can be incredibly tough. Their mom, who appears to be a full Shih Tzu, was forced to live outside and gave birth to them during the winter. Somehow, despite the cold and harsh conditions, these little girls survived. And now? They are thriving. These puppies are happy, playful, vocal, spunky little babies who absolutely love attention and interaction. They bounce around together constantly, playing, exploring, and demanding to be included in whatever is happening around them. There are 3 girls available: • Light brown and white • White and chocolate • White and red Dad appears to have been a Shih Tzu mix of some kind, but all 3 girls are expected to stay small. Because of their tiny size and young age, they will not be spayed prior to adoption. Adopters will be required to provide proof of spay in 2027 once they are fully grown and medically ready. Good fit: someone looking for a happy, social little companion puppy who wants affection, playtime, and an indoor family life. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Age-appropriate vetting, vaccinated, microchipped Adoption fee: $550 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ Think you might be a good fit? Story
This tiny little heartthrob is Yoshi. At just 5 weeks old and around 4 pounds, he is as small and adorable as they come. We believe he is a Shih Tzu/Chihuahua mix. The family that gave him away said his mom was a Shih Tzu mix, but we all know that with rescue it is always a guess! What we do know is that Yoshi came from one of the most at risk regions in the country. Texas is in a state of crisis, with overcrowded shelters forced to make heartbreaking decisions every day. Choosing Yoshi means not only saving his life, but making room for another dog who desperately needs that chance. Before you go any further, you need to watch his video to truly understand just how special he is: https://youtu.be/1udxuJGMUqs Yoshi is everything you could want in a puppy wrapped up into one tiny, wiggly, absolutely irresistible body. He has that perfect mix of playful curiosity and melt into your arms sweetness that people spend years hoping to find. He bounces through life with this happy little energy, then the next moment he is curled up against you like a tiny baby, completely content just being close. He is being fostered in a home with children ranging from 4 to 14 years old and absolutely adores them. He greets everyone like they are his new best friend and soaks up all the love he can get. He is the kind of puppy that follows you from room to room, not wanting to miss a single moment of your day. He is also getting great socialization with both a large female dog and a smaller male dog in his foster home. He watches them closely and is already learning the rhythm of daily life. Yoshi is picking up on routines quickly and is doing wonderfully sleeping in his crate on his own at night. He settles in around 7:30 pm and wakes up between 6:30 and 7:30 am, usually as soon as he hears someone starting their day. For such a little guy, Yoshi is already working hard on potty training. He has the cutest little squeak to let you know when he really needs to go, and he is learning to follow the other dogs outside. This early foundation gives him a huge head start in building confidence, good habits, and strong social skills. Yoshi is curious, observant, and just the right amount of mischievous. He has already figured out that the youngest kid in the house is the most likely to drop snacks and makes sure to stay close by just in case. He is always watching, always learning, and always ready to join in on whatever you are doing. He loves hopping in the car for the morning school run and rides along like the tiniest co-pilot, taking it all in. When he is not exploring or playing, he melts right into your arms, nesting in perfectly like he was made to be there. Puppies grow quickly, and so does their need for structure. We require all adopters to begin crate training right away, as it plays a key role in potty training, building independence, and creating a secure routine. Continued socialization will help Yoshi grow into the well rounded, confident dog he is already showing signs of becoming. Yoshi is ready to bring laughter, love, and a whole lot of personality into your home. If you have been waiting for a tiny best friend who will grow up by your side and still always feel like your little baby, this is your boy.
