**Must go home with my sister, Lily.**· Intake Reason: surrendered because of owner's healthKnown with:· Cats: lived with female & did good· Dogs: lived with another dog and sister, Lily & did good· Kids: exposed to kids of various ages & did good· Personality: on seizure medication, loves to eat carrots as a healthy snack, calm & gentle personalityWeight: 16 lbsGreetings, my name is Bella; that name means ‘beautiful' so I think it is fitting because I am enchanting. I lived with my sister, Lily, and my person my whole life and we were all very happy. Unfortunately, our human was no longer able to take care of us so we made the difficult decision to come to WCHS and look for a new family. I must stay with Lily because I look to her for guidance and security; we have a very strong bond. I am a friendly and playful girl who has a wee bit of a stubborn streak. Although I am not interested in a marathon, I do enjoy staying active with a short walk and meander. I am an outgoing gal; in addition to my sister, I also lived with a Lab and even played with neighborhood dogs. I am calm, quiet and tolerant; I have done well with gentle and respectful children of all ages and even lived with a kitty and I was amiable to her. In my previous home I was comfortable in a crate when my sister was with me but when we were alone in the house we got to stay in a cozy room with a comfy bed and toys. I knew to go to the door to ask to go outside to use the facilities. When I get to my new home it would be wise to give me plenty of opportunities for potty breaks until we learn each other's signals and routines and I get the lay of the land. I am an affectionate girl and since I only weigh 16 pounds I may fit perfectly in your lap; evenings filled with cuddles and snuggles are always special. I am a fan of tiny hot dog bits and I love carrots. I am a calm and quiet lady who is hoping for a tranquil retirement home where I can be surrounded by love and lots of cozy blankets. I hope you stop by to meet me and Lily; I think you will be smitten.#1

**Must go home with my sister, Bella.· Intake Reason: surrendered because of owner's healthKnown with:· Cats: lived with female & did good· Dogs: lived with another dog and sister, Bella & did good· Kids: exposed to various ages & did goodWeight: 19 lbsHi, my name is Lily and I am a friendly girl who is as pretty as the flower. My sister, Bella, and I are looking for a retirement home where we can live together. We lived with a very nice person since we were puppies but unfortunately, they are no longer able to take care of us so we came to the shelter. It was a sad situation for all of us but I know it is best that we find a new home. I must stay with Bella because we give each other comfort and a sense of normalcy; we have a very strong bond. I am outgoing and take the lead when it comes to Lily; at about 19 pounds I am sort of her big sister even though we are twins. We look very similar but I have a cute little nub of a tail and my sister has a tail with a bit more fluff. I may not need hours of exercise but I do like to stay somewhat active with a walk so I can explore the outdoors. I have a playful attitude but must confess that I can be a tad headstrong at times. My sister and I also lived with a Lab and I used to have fun playing with some other pooches in my neighborhood. I am calm, quiet and tolerant; I have done well with gentle and respectful children of all ages and even lived with a kitty and I was amiable to her. When Bella and I were alone we stayed in our own little room so we did not have to manage the whole house; it was nice that we had a comfy little den where we could nap and relax. I understand house-training and would go to the door to ask to go outside. I could make it through the night without a break but during the day I need to go potty every 3-4 hours. I enjoy tender scratches and cuddles and think spending time curled up next to you is a great way to spend time; I would be a fabulous reading partner. I am searching for a retirement home where I can spend my golden years with Bella. Stop by to make our acquaintance; I think it will be love at first sight.#1

Story
About Me: Name: Rexie Breed (or best guess): Shih Tzu mix Approximate Age: 3 years Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 14 lb Adoption Fee: $400 ($450 - $50 sponsored) Requirements: another small dog, fenced yard, patient adopter Why In Rescue: puppy mill surrender Profile:   Rexie came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  She is a very shy girl and will need time and patience to understand and enjoy human companionship.  She is happy when she is in her kennel run with another dog, but very unsure of human touch.  She does need to have another dog in her new home to make her comfortable.  A secure fence will be needed as well.  Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $450 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS July 26, 2024, 3:59 pm

Story
About Me: Name: Kobe Breed (or best guess): Shih Tzu Approximate Age: 4 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 13 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: Patient adopter Why In Rescue: owner surrender Profile:  Koby was surrendered with a number of other dogs when his owner lost their home.  Koby takes awhile to get to know new people, and is adjusting to life at the shelter.  He has another small female dog as his friend, he isn't super playful with the other dog, but seems to like the company of another dog.  He doesn't love getting groomed, especially his face, so he will need work with that (and a patient groomer).  He has been neutered and had his teeth cleaned as well as vet care updated.  He is a funny guy and will pounce towards you to play, and sometimes you will catch him chasing his tail, but mostly he is happy to lay in his bed and chill out.  He isn't use to walking on a leash so a fenced yard would be best.  If you think you may have just the right home for Koby, please fill out the pre-adoption application. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation.
