Story
Introducing Sakura! Sakura originally came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services with her 4 little kittens. Sakura was an excellent mom to her babies and now that they are weaned, she is ready for a home of her own! Sakura is a sweet, petite girl, who enjoys the company of humans. She would love to find a home with adult adopters or families with cat-savvy children over the six at this time. We are still getting to know Sakura and do not know how she does with other cats or dogs but may do well with them after proper introductions. Sakura is currently in foster care. A meet and greet can be scheduled once an online application has been submitted. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org to complete one today!

Story
Meet Milo, the 1 year, 5 month old male Siamese. Milo came to the shelter with an old fracture in his left rear leg that had been surgically repaired but had not been maintained properly. This created nerve damage that caused him to chronically drag and injure his foot while walking. Due to this nerve damage and chronic pain, we performed surgery to amputate his leg on 7/2. He is already recovering beautifully from his surgery and is almost ready to get back to living a normal housecat life. While he can play, cuddle, and use the litterbox like any other cat, it is essential that he is housed INDOORS ONLY for the rest of his life as he is not able to escape dangers such as cars, dogs, and coyotes, as well as a cat with all 4 legs. Milo previously lived in a home with teens, men and women. His favorite toys were wand toys with feathers on the end of them. Milo needs to be offered lots of scratching posts and options (think horizontal and vertical) as he gets a lot of joy from using his scratchers! He used his litterbox reliably in his previous home and preferred a covered litterbox filled with clumping litter. Milo has not lived with cats but did live with a dog and they were buddies. A cat-savvy dog in the home may be a fit after a slow acclimation period. His previous guardian described him as friendly, affection and likes to be held. Now through July 19th, adoption fees are reduced to $70 thanks to the BISSELL Pet Foundation`s Empty the Shelter event! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.**Alice must be adopted with her foster mate, Aspen** If you're interested in meeting these adorable kittens, please complete an online adoption application or reach out to us via email at  info@ibokrescue.org . All of our kittens are spayed/neutered, up to date on their vaccinations, dewormed, deflead and microchipped prior to being delivered to their loving forever home. All of our kittens are only available for adoption in pairs as it is our policy not to place kittens under six months of age in a forever home without another same aged kitten. We also do not place kittens older than six months into homes where there is currently not another young cat in residence. Most of our kittens are in "bonded pairs" or bonded with their littermates. We reserve the right not to separate bonded pairs or place kittens individually. The happiness and quality of life for our kittens is our top priority. =^..^=Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 27, 2025, 11:02 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ready for Pre-Adoption!Chicken (Little) is a purrfect little lady. She is delicate and calm but confident and sassy enough to put Cow in his place if he gets too rough. She also has a playful streak and is very fast and precise when “hunting” her toys. She loves to chase balls and carry the toys in her mouth after she “catches” them. An excellent cuddler and all around sweet little gal.  Kittens are bundles of love! Their personalities develop over time so we can't tell you exactly if this kitten will become a lap cat, a social kitty, a kneader, etc. Part of adopting a kitten is recognizing that they are babies and you will get to see first hand how their wonderful natures develop. Unless otherwise noted, all kittens are adopted out in pairs. 2 is always better than one! SVPP Kittens are fixed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed and FIV/FELV tested prior to adoption.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 8, 2025, 5:38 pm

Story
I recently rescued a kitten in my San Jose neighborhood that I’ve named Wild Bill. He’s about 12 weeks old. When I first brought him in, he appeared to be feral, so following the shelter's advice, I had him TNR’d on June 4. However, I decided to keep him for a few days to see if he could be socialized—and within a week, he completely transformed. He’s now affectionate, playful, and great with other cats. He’s also been vet-checked, vaccinated, and is in excellent health. He would make a great additional to any family.
