Story
Meet Bruno, our delightful 5-year-old friend who came to us as a stray. This charming 103-pound bundle of joy is on the lookout for a loving home, especially with folks who have experience with large dogs. It was clear from the get-go that this handsome guy was a great walking on a leash. Bruno has started some training here and will need a refresher once in the home! Bruno has already made some human pals during his time here, and it’s easy to see why—just check out his beautiful auburn coat! While he’s met a few doggy friends and seemed pretty indifferent, he definitely wants to say hello to his future roommates before heading home with you.We haven`t had a chance to see how he interacts with cats, as he hasn`t met any yet, but when it comes to kids, we recommend a home with children aged 12 and up since Bruno has a few quirks about sharing his toys.If you’ve fallen for this striking red-head like so many others, don’t hesitate! Give us a call today at 410-827-7178 or swing by during our open hours! We can’t wait to see Bruno find his forever home!

Story
Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.the best and longest holiday you'll ever have! HOLIDAY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Holiday     Best Guess for Breed:  Anatolian shepherd mix    Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of May 2025     SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight: 49.6 lbs as of 5/2/25; she is significantly underweight at this point   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   Texas shelter right now; will make her way to Lucky Dog's South Carolina rescue campus on 5/17 for heartworm treatment and then on to the DC area!   Special adoption considerations: Holiday is a truly Lucky Dog. Although she has tested positive for heartworms, treatment has been scheduled! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.    Holiday is Looking For:  Her forever home. This sweetie landed a shelter as far south in Texas as you can get, heartworm positive and significantly underweight. She's slammed the book shut on that chapter and has opened a new one - one where she has her own humans, a family who cares for her and loves her. One where she gets to go on sniffy walks and spend plenty of time outside and just enjoy life.Going by her face and her body, she likely has some Anatolian shepherd in her along with something else. Let your Google-fu shine strong as you research Anatolian shepherds. That breed loves their family, their humans. Utterly loyal. Holiday has so much to offer her forever family. What do you say? Is Holiday the one for your home and your heart?   What My Foster Says About Me:  We will update this once she has spent time in foster care.    Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at    www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!    Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact    fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org   !
