Bristow, VA, Prince William County, Virginia FAMILY CAN NO LONGER CARE FOR THE PAIR LIKE THEY SHOULD DUE TO PERSONAL REASONS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DOGS. SAINTS CAN BE ADOPTED OUT SEPARATELY!!!! Pls consider them. FROM FAMILY: Ellie (5.5-year-old Saint Bernard) Ellie is an affectionate, people-loving dog who truly believes she’s a lap dog. She has been raised in a busy household with eight children, including a medically fragile child, and has done wonderfully with kids of all ages. She’s playful, curious, and energetic, with a sweet, snuggly, almost toddler-like personality. Ellie is food-motivated, enjoys car rides (especially pup cups), and is crate trained at night. She can be a bit mischievous, particularly with counter surfing. She does well with cats, showing only playful curiosity and no aggression. Ellie has always lived in a home where someone is present and would do best in a home where she can receive lots of attention and companionship, as she may struggle being left alone for long periods. Byrnie (5.5 yr old Extra-large Saint Bernard) Byrnie is a loyal and protective dog who forms strong bonds with his family. He moves slowly, unlike Ellie. Like Ellie, he has been raised in a home with eight children, including a medically fragile child, and has done well in that environment. However, he can be wary of strangers entering the home, especially individuals who are smaller in stature, such as children’s friends. Byrnie would do best in a home without small children or other pets, as he prefers to have all the attention and can become possessive, particularly around food (he needs to be fed separately). He is not a fan of car rides or vet visits. Byrnie has also always lived in a home where someone is around and would thrive in a home where he can receive consistent attention, love, and companionship, as he is unlikely to do well being left alone for long periods. The two can be placed together IF there are no other pets in the home and as long as the family understands that they would need to be fed separately in order to avoid any type of disagreement over the food. Ellie DOB: August 19, 2020 Byrnie DOB: October 21, 2020 Byrnie is neutered but NOT up-to-date on shots. Ellie is not spayed and is up-to-date on shots.

Story
Artoo is a 5 year old St. Bernard/Poodle mix (St. Berdoodle). His birthday just passed a week before this post. He weighs about 90ish lbs, has a slender build and appears bigger than he is due to his furry coat. He didn’t inherit the non shedding gene from his poodle side so he does shed a fair amount. He is also currently in tact. He’s not the most active dog and doesn’t play much with toys but he’ll do a few speed laps around the yard every now and again. He does not like hot weather… his trips outside during summer are mostly just to take care of business. When it gets cold, however, he loves being outside. He absolutely loves people and he’s also friendly with dogs and other animals. He has a big bark to scare off weary folks but that’s just him letting you know he wants to be petted. Artoo will love anything that loves him. We’re looking for a home that is willing to give Artoo a loving, caring space that we are no longer able to offer.

Approximate Age: 1-2 years Approximate Weight: TBD I just arrived to ODHS but the humans promised to update my bio as they learn more about me! Put in an application and come meet me soon. You can still come adopt me or even join our foster program to help the humans learn all the awesome things about new dogs like me! Learn more on our website! Hope to see you soon! *********************************************************************** Visit our website for an application to adopt. https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-survey What breed am I? Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there's official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance. Educational article: 3/3/3 rule: https://www.rescuedogs101.com/bringing-new-dog-home-3-3-3-rule/?fbclid=IwAR2iv5m7fqk3FieO7LOsstGeGsYYV_F1rJOd1BPxaImofLpcinpYsUbFRWs Adoption Donations are $275 for an adult, $375 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $175 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog). More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Weds 5-7pm, Fri 6-8pm, Sat 11am - 3pm, and Sun 11am - 1pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week.
