Story
Courtesy Post – Meet Sarge! Sarge is an adorable 10-month-old white/cream Goldendoodle looking for a new home due to housing challenges his family is facing. Still very much a puppy, Sarge has a sweet, shy nature and lots of playful energy just waiting to blossom in the right home. Sarge is: Up to date on vaccinations Crate trained Friendly with kids and other dogs Allows people to take food and toys away from him Still learning about house training (potty training is currently unknown) Sarge behaves happily but shyly when meeting new people. Once he warms up, he’s a loving companion who just wants to be part of the fun. He’s lived both indoors and outdoors, and like many puppies, he occasionally has excited pees when he's especially happy. This smart, sensitive boy would thrive with someone who has the time and patience to continue his training and give him the security and structure he needs to grow into a confident adult dog. Located in West Sacramento, CAFor more information or to meet Sarge, please contact: Angie  (916) 502-3559 angiegonzalez2017@yahoo.com Please note: Sarge is not at the shelter. This is a courtesy post to help him find a safe and loving home. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
Courtesy Post: Teddy Needs a Loving Home Meet Teddy, a cream-colored Goldendoodle looking for a loving, patient home. She has been with her current family for five years after being adopted from a relative. While she is a wonderful companion, her family feels she would do best in a home without children due to her sensitivity to certain triggers. About Teddy: Breed: Goldendoodle Age: 8 years old (Born November 2015) Gender: Female (spayed) Temperament: Affectionate, snuggly, and loving Potty Trained: Yes Training: Knows basic commands, crate trained, and follows household routines Activity Level: Enjoys playing fetch, going on walks, car rides, and being with her people Other Pets: Does well with dogs but does not actively engage in play. Has not lived with cats but may adjust to a calm cat Allergies: Requires daily medication and a chicken-free diet (currently on Purina Pro Plan Salmon & Rice) Separation Anxiety: Can become anxious when left alone but responds well to structure and treats Grooming: Needs Trazodone for vet visits and grooming due to anxiety Ideal Home for Teddy: Teddy would thrive in a calm, adult-only home where she can be a loyal companion. She needs an owner who understands her boundaries and is willing to work with her on her specific triggers. She loves to be close to her people, preferably cuddled up on the couch. Challenges & Considerations: While Teddy is loving and affectionate, she has shown reactivity in specific situations: Resource Guarding: If someone tries to take a non-toy object from her mouth, she may nip. This is managed by trading the item for a treat and using commands like 'sit' and 'drop it.' Handling Sensitivities: Teddy does not like her feet or mouth being touched. She also does not tolerate being force-fed pills and must take medication in food or treats. Reactivity to Pain: If accidentally injured (e.g., foot stepped on), she may react by nipping. She has bitten in these situations before, but the bites were not severe (puncture wounds but no stitches needed). Strong Reactions to Anger: Teddy does not respond well to forceful handling or raised voices. She needs an owner who uses calm and firm leadership. While Teddy has been friendly with children, her family believes she would do best in a home without kids to avoid any accidental triggers. If you are interested in giving Teddy a loving home, please contact Leanne Wydick at (530) 220-5325 or leanneloof@gmail.com. Please share to help Teddy find the right home! Courtesy Post – Rehoming Needed This dog is not at the shelter. Meet George – a handsome 3.5-year-old male Labradoodle (black). &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Neutered: Yes &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Vaccines: Current &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Potty trained: Yes &#226&#156&#148&#239&#184&#143 Crate trained: Yes George has lived with his family since he was a puppy. Unfortunately, due to his owner’s health problems, they can no longer provide him with the care and active home he deserves. George is a primarily indoor dog who enjoys companionship. He has lived with both dogs and kids, though he has not spent much time directly with children. He can be anxious and protective of his people, sometimes showing reactive behaviors like growling. With visitors, George starts off cautious and overly excited, but after a few minutes, he relaxes and becomes affectionate and loving. George would do best with a family that understands his energy and is patient with his initial reactivity, giving him the time he needs to settle in and feel secure. Story
Milo is a super sweet, friendly standard poodle who has already captured every heart at the rescue. He was found as a stray in the Central Valley and arrived very emaciated, but now he’s safe, warm, and finally getting all the TLC, good meals, and love he’s been missing. Despite everything he’s been through, Milo is an unbelievably affectionate boy. He’s gentle, calm, and so eager to lean in for pets and connection. You can feel his gratitude in the way he softly rests his head on your hand. Milo also happens to be stunning. He has a beautiful grey-and-white merle coat, soft shaggy ears, and that classic poodle elegance that turns heads everywhere he goes. As a standard poodle, Milo is: ✨ Highly intelligent — quick to learn, eager to please ✨ Graceful and athletic — loves walks and will thrive with an active household ✨ Loyal and people-oriented — forms deep bonds with his humans ✨ Hypoallergenic — great for families with allergies Right now, he’s focused on gaining healthy weight, building confidence, and soaking up affection. He’s going to blossom into the most devoted companion for someone who wants a gentle, loving soul by their side. Milo has been through a lot, but his spirit is intact — soft, trusting, and full of love. He deserves a family who will cherish him forever. If you’ve been looking for a beautiful, kind-hearted poodle boy to adore… come meet Milo. ❤️🐩

Story
We have a transport where we will be personally driving our dogs home leaving on 12/13/25 to NorCal, OR, and WA. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Bailey to our trip for the right home! Some dogs enter your life with a burst of excitement, but Bailey enters like a calm sunrise — warm, steady, gentle, and full of quiet devotion. She is a beautifully mannered young Labradoodle with a soft hypoallergenic poodle coat, meaning no shedding and endless snuggles to enjoy. Born on October 1st, 2024, she is full grown at just under 43 lbs — a healthy, smaller-framed girl with the sweetest presence and a heart that simply wants a person to love again. Bailey came from a caring home, but life changed in ways she couldn’t understand. Her owners went through a divorce, and although both loved her, she became tied to a chapter that was closing. The wife didn’t want to take anything connected to the marriage with her — including Bailey. Her husband adored her, but his long work hours made it impossible to give her the consistent time, attention, and companionship she deserved. With a heavy heart, he reached out to us and asked if we could take her in and find the home he always hoped she would have. His love for her showed in every word, and we’ve carried that same care forward while she has been with us. From the first day, Bailey showed us exactly who she is: calm, gentle, affectionate, and deeply connected to people. She naturally gravitates toward her person and finds so much joy simply being by your side. She is wonderful with other dogs and cats — kind, respectful, and easygoing — but because she was the only dog in her previous home, learning to play with other animals is something she is slowly exploring. Her comfort has always been with humans, and that bond is where she truly shines. She can be cautious when meeting someone new, which is a classic poodle trait, but it isn’t fear — she just needs a moment to feel safe. Once she senses kindness, her heart opens beautifully. Bring a few treats, and she’ll warm up even faster, as she is very food motivated. She is not a barker, but she does communicate softly when she needs or wants something. Her nature is tender, quiet, and very sweet, and she carries herself in a way that makes you feel calm just by being near her. Bailey has wonderful home manners. She is crate trained and sleeps peacefully through the night, though she’d be just as happy with a cozy bed beside her person, as closeness is truly her happy place. She loves road trips and is always eager to hop into the car and go anywhere with us. She enjoys grooming appointments and absolutely soaks up the compliments — she knows she’s beautiful and appreciates every bit of attention. Her leash training has improved tremendously, and she walks with confidence and ease now. Bailey’s adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/bailey-1 It covers her spay, vaccines, microchip/registration, dental cleaning and polish, and her full exam with our vet. It also reflects the months of care, training, grooming, and love we’ve invested into preparing her for her forever family. Bailey is an extraordinary girl — soft-hearted, intuitive, loyal, and genuinely loving. Anyone would be blessed to share their life with her. If you are looking for a companion who will walk beside you, feel safe with you, and love you with her whole heart, Bailey may be the one whose story is meant to continue with yours.
