Story
Ollie's story starts heartbreakingly, but we hope his next chapter will be wonderful. This sweet boy was found abandoned on the side of a busy road, left alone in a crate during a bitter cold spell. When he arrived, he was shivering, and his coat was matted so heavily that it was causing him significant pain. It was a clear sign that he had been neglected for a long time. Based on the condition of his teeth, we estimate this little guy is about 4 to 5 years old. The first thing we did was give him a full, relieving groom, allowing his sweet personality to shine through without the burden of his painful past. Now, this small, bob-tail, 11-pound companion is ready to leave the cold behind and snuggle into a loving, attentive home. Ollie is looking for a devoted family that understands the importance of consistent care. His new owner must be diligent with regular grooming to ensure he never has to experience that kind of discomfort again. Despite everything, Ollie is gentle and has so much love to give. We have had a thorough vet check and he has luxating patella in his rear legs. It is not severe, but will need to be monitored as he ages and he will likely need arthritis meds. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. The adoption fee to bring this resilient little dog into your life is $300. Please apply for Ollie today! Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog D:7Okra is a 1-year-old, 59-pound poodle mix with a personality that shines. She’s smart, gentle, affectionate, energetic, and absolutely irresistible. With her floppy ears and adorable face, she oozes total doodly charm! She knows basic cues like sit and paw, takes treats gently, and loves squeaky toys almost as much as she loves cuddles. Okra walks beautifully on leash, though she may bark at other dogs. She can be a little nervous around them, and is still learning how best to interact. She might thrive as a solo pup, or perhaps with a well-matched canine friend.  This sweet girl is full of fun and love. Okra is ready to find a home where she can be adored and cherished!         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Claudia San Martín (@dogtownadopts)  December 29, 2025, 2:49 pm

Story
Boomer is glad to see you! We don't want to give him up, however the wife's health is no longer up to the task. He's a very happy dog. He's 2 years old we've had him his whole life. He's very loving and cuddly. Still needs hard toys as opposed to anything soft to chew on cuz he just rips soft toys to shreds. He's good with other animals. For example my son's chinchilla and has stayed at my brother's with their dog and cats. He knows how to smell instead of lick something. House trained. Loves walks and hikes. Very well trained for 2 years old. He's a good boy. I hope you can be a good parent to him.

Story
Courtesy Post – Meet Sarge! Sarge is an adorable 10-month-old white/cream Goldendoodle looking for a new home due to housing challenges his family is facing. Still very much a puppy, Sarge has a sweet, shy nature and lots of playful energy just waiting to blossom in the right home. Sarge is: Up to date on vaccinations Crate trained Friendly with kids and other dogs Allows people to take food and toys away from him Still learning about house training (potty training is currently unknown) Sarge behaves happily but shyly when meeting new people. Once he warms up, he’s a loving companion who just wants to be part of the fun. He’s lived both indoors and outdoors, and like many puppies, he occasionally has excited pees when he's especially happy. This smart, sensitive boy would thrive with someone who has the time and patience to continue his training and give him the security and structure he needs to grow into a confident adult dog. Located in West Sacramento, CAFor more information or to meet Sarge, please contact: Angie  (916) 502-3559 angiegonzalez2017@yahoo.com Please note: Sarge is not at the shelter. This is a courtesy post to help him find a safe and loving home. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
Courtesy Post: Teddy Needs a Loving Home Meet Teddy, a cream-colored Goldendoodle looking for a loving, patient home. She has been with her current family for five years after being adopted from a relative. While she is a wonderful companion, her family feels she would do best in a home without children due to her sensitivity to certain triggers. About Teddy: Breed: Goldendoodle Age: 8 years old (Born November 2015) Gender: Female (spayed) Temperament: Affectionate, snuggly, and loving Potty Trained: Yes Training: Knows basic commands, crate trained, and follows household routines Activity Level: Enjoys playing fetch, going on walks, car rides, and being with her people Other Pets: Does well with dogs but does not actively engage in play. Has not lived with cats but may adjust to a calm cat Allergies: Requires daily medication and a chicken-free diet (currently on Purina Pro Plan Salmon & Rice) Separation Anxiety: Can become anxious when left alone but responds well to structure and treats Grooming: Needs Trazodone for vet visits and grooming due to anxiety Ideal Home for Teddy: Teddy would thrive in a calm, adult-only home where she can be a loyal companion. She needs an owner who understands her boundaries and is willing to work with her on her specific triggers. She loves to be close to her people, preferably cuddled up on the couch. Challenges & Considerations: While Teddy is loving and affectionate, she has shown reactivity in specific situations: Resource Guarding: If someone tries to take a non-toy object from her mouth, she may nip. This is managed by trading the item for a treat and using commands like 'sit' and 'drop it.' Handling Sensitivities: Teddy does not like her feet or mouth being touched. She also does not tolerate being force-fed pills and must take medication in food or treats. Reactivity to Pain: If accidentally injured (e.g., foot stepped on), she may react by nipping. She has bitten in these situations before, but the bites were not severe (puncture wounds but no stitches needed). Strong Reactions to Anger: Teddy does not respond well to forceful handling or raised voices. She needs an owner who uses calm and firm leadership. While Teddy has been friendly with children, her family believes she would do best in a home without kids to avoid any accidental triggers. If you are interested in giving Teddy a loving home, please contact Leanne Wydick at (530) 220-5325 or leanneloof@gmail.com. Please share to help Teddy find the right home!
