He’s a scared dog who needs a firm, experienced owner to help him feel secure and establish boundaries. Sprocket has had training sessions and responds well to clear, consistent leadership. Once he knows you’re in charge, he’s much more relaxed and doesn’t push back. However, he does react to new people and should wear a muzzle during initial introductions for safety. Despite his challenges, Sprocket has no health issues and thrives on affection from his trusted person. He enjoys being cuddled and will show his sweet side once he’s built trust. Merlin is a 65 pound standard poodle and he is about 7 years old. He is such a great pet and I hate to have to give him up, but I am in college now and am just too busy to take care of him and give him the attention he needs. He used to be my psychiatric service dog and is very smart and well-behaved and socialized. He hasn’t had any formal training in about 2 years as life just got too busy, but I am certain he would respond to any training well. He has some anxiety issues with being alone due to a previous owner’s neglect so it’s best if he has a companion, especially another dog. Otherwise, he is amazing and super well behaved.

“Give me time, give me treats, and I’ll give you my whole heart.” Hi, I’m Iris! I’m a sweet girl with a whole lot of love to give. Once I know you and feel comfortable, I’ll trust you with all my heart. My favorite place to be is right beside my people, whether we’re snuggling on the couch or heading out on an adventure together. I can be a little nervous when meeting new people, so I need someone who is willing to let me take things at my own pace. If I feel overwhelmed or pushed past my comfort zone, I may bark or lunge. But with patience, consistency, and positive experiences, I can learn that new people aren’t so scary. And if you really want to become my best friend? Bring treats! Food is definitely the way to my heart. General Socialization Notes: I’m crate trained and obedience trained, and I know lots of cues! I can sit, down, recall, place, stay, and heel. I am also good for grooming, I’ll jump right into the bath, and I’ll stand on the table for blow drying and a haircut. My previous owner also taught me to turn on cue so she can get my other side while I’m being groomed! I’m generally a good girl on leash, although I can occasionally get excited and pull. I’m looking for someone who will continue helping me build confidence and feel more comfortable around new people. Does Iris like other animals? I do well with other dogs, but I’ll need slow, thoughtful introductions so everyone can make sure we’re a good match. I would do best with dogs around my size or larger, or I’d be perfectly happy being your one-and-only pet. Does Iris like children? When it comes to children, I’d do best with older children who understand how to respect my space and give me time to feel comfortable. Children 12 years and older may be best. Favorite Toys: My favorite toys are soft, fluffy toys, but my absolute favorite is my sheepskin tug toy. I love tugging, and I’m pretty proud to say I can even fetch it and drop it! Ideal Forever Home: I would feel best in a home that understands that I need time to feel comfortable around new people, to let me meet people at my own pace. I look forward to training! Meet Freddie our sweet one year old poodle mix. He weighs 15 pounds full grown. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his vaccines. The vet sent him home with a clean bill of health and is now ready to find a home all his own. He is house trained and goes outside to do his business every couple hours when needed. Inside the home, he's pretty independent and keeps to himself unless you're calling him over for some love and attention. He's not the type to demand affection, but he absolutely soaks it up when it's offered. He is still getting the hang of walking on a leash and building confidence as his previous life as a breeder dog didn't include many outings, so everything is still a little unfamiliar to him but he's making steady progress. He enjoys spending quiet time out in the yard and will happily hang out on his own, especially if he's not quite ready to come inside. He's a bit of a hide and seek pro when he wants to be. Every day he gets a little braver, a little more curious, and a little more confident. He currently sleeps in his crate peacefully at night but I'm sure he would love his own bed next to yours if you prefer. He sleeps soundly through the night and settles in easily when you need to step out. What he needs now is someone with patients and a gentle heart, someone who understands that love and trust take time to grow. He'd thrive in a calm, nurturing home where he can continue building confidence at his own pace. Beau and Lulu are siblings who came to us from an elderly adopter who was moving into a senior living facility which did not allow pets. They have always been extremely well cared for and loved, however were not well socialized with lots of different people. They are a bonded pair and must go to a home together. They are 100% housetrained and love to take long walks. They are good on a leash and come with a leash in which they are linked together. Beau and Lulu would love to find a home in which they are the only pets in the home. They are extremely athletic and have a prey drive with small animals. They will definitely keep the squirrels out of the yard. They are both extremely loving and love to be on your lap or next to you. They bond quickly with new people and done very well in the 2 different foster homes. The reason they would be best as the only pets is they are very protective of one another and while there have no incidents in either of the foster homes with other dogs, they are currently in a foster home with a blind reactive dog who can be aggressive when startled by another animal. The foster has always been there to de-escalate before it becomes problematic. These two would do great with an active family who has older children who understand how to treat pets. They are both very strong and could easily knock a small child over when they get excited. They are both current on all vaccinations including lepto and rabies and both have had a dental within the past year. They

Lulu is a 5+ year old spay female Shih Tzu mix who is bonded with her brother Beau. They came to CJCR from an elderly owner who was moving into a senior living facility which did not allow pets. Beau and Lulu have always been well cared for and loved, however were not socialized with lots of different people. They do not shed and require daily grooming. They are initially shy with strangers, however, will quickly bond to the people in the home. They would love to have a family that is active and can take them on long walks. They would make excellent jogging dogs. The owner was told that they were Japanese Chin/Shih Tzu mixes. We can definitely see the Shih Tzu, but feel that there is zero chance that they have any Chin in them. Due to the athletic ability of the dogs, we suspect there may poodle in the mix. They do no shed and will require regular grooming. The would be best in a home where they are the only pets. They both have a strong prey drive with small animals and are obsessed with chasing squirrels and bunnies. They are mostly quiet with the exception of someone around that they don't know or another animal in the area. They are very loving and loyal and would love to find a forever home.
