Story
Meet Sprocket, a 4-year-old Poodle mix with a big personality and a heart full of potential. Sprocket has had a rough start and comes with a history of reactivity and biting. He’s a scared dog who needs a firm, experienced owner to help him feel secure and establish boundaries. Sprocket has had training sessions and responds well to clear, consistent leadership. Once he knows you’re in charge, he’s much more relaxed and doesn’t push back. However, he does react to new people and should wear a muzzle during initial introductions for safety. Despite his challenges, Sprocket has no health issues and thrives on affection from his trusted person. He enjoys being cuddled and will show his sweet side once he’s built trust. If you’re an experienced dog owner ready to provide a structured, loving environment, Sprocket could be a rewarding companion. He’s looking for someone who can help him overcome his fears and show him the love and stability he deserves.

Story
Meet Kona! Kona has spent much of his young life moving between homes, as he hasn’t yet found a person or family fully prepared for him! As a puppy, he experienced some neglect and missed out on early structure and training, which has contributed to a few of the behaviors he’s still working through today. Now in our care, Kona is getting the consistency and guidance he needs while he waits for the right, committed home. Kona is a handsome two-year-old, 70-pound Aussiedoodle with a big heart and even bigger energy. He’s playful, affectionate, and absolutely loves being around people. When he bonds with you, you’ll have a loyal, loving companion who’s always ready for fun. Kona thrives on play and activity. He’s happiest chasing a ball, playing catch, working on a Kong, or exploring sniff mats. Because he has a lot of energy, he would do best in a home with a large, secure backyard where he can run and get his exercise at home rather than relying on busy neighborhood walks. On leash, Kona walks nicely when no other dogs are around, but he does struggle with dog reactivity when he sees other dogs. For this reason, a home that can minimize stressful leash encounters and focus on enrichment and play at home would be ideal. Kona would likely do well with older or sturdier children who enjoy active play. He can get very excited and is known to jump up when greeting people, so he’ll need a patient adopter who’s willing to continue working on training and setting boundaries. He has made great progress already—his previous mouthiness has significantly improved. With consistency, exercise, and love, Kona has so much potential to be an amazing companion. He’s best suited for an active home that understands his needs and is excited to help him continue growing into the best version of himself. Kona’s Best Features * Happy, playful, and full of life* Very loving, affectionate, and people-oriented* Trusting and eager to bond with his humans* Potty trained* Crate trained* Loves games like fetch, chase, Kongs, and sniff mats Areas Where Kona Needs Support * On-leash walks (especially in environments with other dogs)* High dog reactivity on leash* Jumping up when excited (needs continued training and consistency) Perfect Home Summary Kona would thrive in an active home with a **large, securely fenced backyard** where he can run, play, and burn off energy safely. His ideal adopter is someone who enjoys interactive play and enrichment activities and is willing to continue working on basic training and polite greetings. A home that can limit busy leash-walking situations—or is experienced with reactive dogs—would be a great fit. Kona would do best with **older or sturdy children** who understand his excitement and love to play. With structure, patience, and love, Kona will be a joyful, loyal, and fun-loving companion. ***NO APARTMENTS*** Kona needs a home to acclimate and receive training with before being walked on leash in any public spaces that other dogs walk.    Apply online at www.lolasrescue.com  ##2587576##

Story
Meet Freddie our sweet one year old poodle mix. He weighs 15 pounds full grown. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all his vaccines. The vet sent him home with a clean bill of health and is now ready to find a home all his own. He is house trained and goes outside to do his business every couple hours when needed. Inside the home, he's pretty independent and keeps to himself unless you're calling him over for some love and attention. He's not the type to demand affection, but he absolutely soaks it up when it's offered. He is still getting the hang of walking on a leash and building confidence as his previous life as a breeder dog didn't include many outings, so everything is still a little unfamiliar to him but he's making steady progress. He enjoys spending quiet time out in the yard and will happily hang out on his own, especially if he's not quite ready to come inside. He's a bit of a hide and seek pro when he wants to be. Every day he gets a little braver, a little more curious, and a little more confident. He currently sleeps in his crate peacefully at night but I'm sure he would love his own bed next to yours if you prefer. He sleeps soundly through the night and settles in easily when you need to step out. What he needs now is someone with patients and a gentle heart, someone who understands that love and trust take time to grow. He'd thrive in a calm, nurturing home where he can continue building confidence at his own pace. His adoption fee is $1500 which covers all vet costs, care and training since the time he's been with us. Get in touch with us today and share details about yourself, the loving home you can provide, and your experience with the breed. Located in Hesperia CA. We offer transportation to you so long as it's covered by the adopter. We will be in contact with you shortly. Thank you!

Story
Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Local owner surrender, found as a stray by a CPR volunteer and owners were located. Owners could not keep due to finance and housing issues and transferred guardianship to the volunteer who then surrendered to us. From the foster: Hi there! I’m Lucas, a little poodle mix with a big heart. I started out pretty scared and scruffy after my family could no longer care for me, but with some love and patience in my foster home, I’ve blossomed into a handsome, happy ball of energy. While I love being close to my people, I can be a bit nervous when making new friends so slow introductions are best. I get along well with the similarly sized dog in my foster home and I don't mind the polite toddler too, but I am a little suspicious of the large man and like to growl at him before allowing pets. I'm working hard to be a good boy, but sometimes my excitement gets the best of me and I jump up for attention or give a soft nibble on hands and clothes as I am not sure what to do with the toys my foster family keeps giving me. I’m still learning my manners, working hard on my potty training, and getting the hang of settling in my crate at night (even if I protest with some loud barking a little first).I have to wear a belly band inside as I want to mark my territory to let everyone know this is my new space, but my foster mom is hoping a future neuter and gentle reminders will help with my habit of marking. What I really dream of is a family who wants a true lap dog and will let me sit with them on the couch, take me on walks - which I am getting the hang of - and let me be wherever they are! I bond deeply with my person and can get a bit anxious when left alone, so a home where I can be part of everyday life would make me feel safe, loved, and right where I belong. www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
