Beau and Lulu are siblings who came to us from an elderly adopter who was moving into a senior living facility which did not allow pets. They have always been extremely well cared for and loved, however were not well socialized with lots of different people. They are a bonded pair and must go to a home together. They are 100% housetrained and love to take long walks. They are good on a leash and come with a leash in which they are linked together. Beau and Lulu would love to find a home in which they are the only pets in the home. They are extremely athletic and have a prey drive with small animals. They will definitely keep the squirrels out of the yard. They are both extremely loving and love to be on your lap or next to you. They bond quickly with new people and done very well in the 2 different foster homes. The reason they would be best as the only pets is they are very protective of one another and while there have no incidents in either of the foster homes with other dogs, they are currently in a foster home with a blind reactive dog who can be aggressive when startled by another animal. The foster has always been there to de-escalate before it becomes problematic. These two would do great with an active family who has older children who understand how to treat pets. They are both very strong and could easily knock a small child over when they get excited. They are both current on all vaccinations including lepto and rabies and both have had a dental within the past year. They

Lulu is a 5+ year old spay female Shih Tzu mix who is bonded with her brother Beau. They came to CJCR from an elderly owner who was moving into a senior living facility which did not allow pets. Beau and Lulu have always been well cared for and loved, however were not socialized with lots of different people. They do not shed and require daily grooming. They are initially shy with strangers, however, will quickly bond to the people in the home. They would love to have a family that is active and can take them on long walks. They would make excellent jogging dogs. The owner was told that they were Japanese Chin/Shih Tzu mixes. We can definitely see the Shih Tzu, but feel that there is zero chance that they have any Chin in them. Due to the athletic ability of the dogs, we suspect there may poodle in the mix. They do no shed and will require regular grooming. The would be best in a home where they are the only pets. They both have a strong prey drive with small animals and are obsessed with chasing squirrels and bunnies. They are mostly quiet with the exception of someone around that they don't know or another animal in the area. They are very loving and loyal and would love to find a forever home.

Meet Sprocket, a 7-year-old Poodle mix with a big personality and a heart full of potential. Sprocket has had a rough start and comes with a history of reactivity and biting. He’s a scared dog who needs a firm, experienced owner to help him feel secure and establish boundaries. Sprocket has had training sessions and responds well to clear, consistent leadership. Once he knows you’re in charge, he’s much more relaxed and doesn’t push back. However, he does react to new people and should wear a muzzle during initial introductions for safety. Despite his challenges, Sprocket has no health issues and thrives on affection from his trusted person. He enjoys being cuddled and will show his sweet side once he’s built trust. If you’re an experienced dog owner ready to provide a structured, loving environment, Sprocket could be a rewarding companion. He’s looking for someone who can help him overcome his fears and show him the love and stability he deserves.

Merlin is a 65 pound standard poodle and he is about 7 years old. He is such a great pet and I hate to have to give him up, but I am in college now and am just too busy to take care of him and give him the attention he needs. He used to be my psychiatric service dog and is very smart and well-behaved and socialized. He hasn’t had any formal training in about 2 years as life just got too busy, but I am certain he would respond to any training well. He has some anxiety issues with being alone due to a previous owner’s neglect so it’s best if he has a companion, especially another dog. Otherwise, he is amazing and super well behaved.

I’m Maiden, a 5 month old Boxer/Pit Bull/Poodle mix. My foster says I’m growing into such an incredible pup, have the sweetest floppy ears that somehow always end up flipped inside out (my lil’ bear ears ), full of energy, some joke I must be part kangaroo and that I learned to jump before I learned to walk, always ready for fun and adventure. There's nothing quite like young dog sweetness and silliness, and then they put their beautiful heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath. These gorgeous pups are so pure and vulnerable with their whole lives lying in front of them, that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and alone on the streets or in a high-kill shelter scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space. Kazoo is a cute as can be 10 month old, 46 lb Labradoodle (Labrador Retriever / Poodle mix) who is just waiting to be the love of a special family's life. Farfel's can't swear to the accuracy of this breed identification as no DNA test was done. This was the opinion of Texas veterinarians and we're going to go with their educated guess. Kazoo is starting out with great energy. While initially just a bit shy, this sweet guy is blossoming as he learns about living in a safe and nurturing environment with love and kindness . Now at 10 months old, Kazoos self esteem is getting better every day as he learns that he's a very valuable guy that has so much to offer a dog-loving family. We don't know much about Kazoo's past but what we do know is that this guy is absolutely irresistible! Whatever his story may be, Kazoo deserves so much more than just surviving at a high-kill shelter. He deserves a warm bed, a loving, respectful family, and the comfort of finally belonging somewhere and with someone. We want to give our wonderful Kazoo the family he has hoped for his entire life. Please help us make his happily ever after a reality! Kazoo's coat is currently a bit shelter-sad. This gorgeous guy's forever family will need to make a lifelong commitment to periodic baths / brushing and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are perfect lifelong protocols for general longevity and coat care) to keep his hair super-healthy, shining and cottony soft. Kazoo, with his gorgeous coat (and the cutest chocolate brown markings ever) will require a lifelong commitment to periodic sudsy baths and excellent nutrition to keep his hair super-healthy and cottony-soft. There has been extensive new research that a human-grade, natural diet will provide a healthier (far fewer vet visits) and longer life for our best friends. Farfel's recommends Chi Diet (chidog.com) due to our personal experience with the health of our own dogs. We wish the same for every dog we rescue. Kazoo is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's also so loving and cuddly once comfortable in his environment. This snuggly guy would be very excited to be a couch potato and snuggle with his favorite people at the end of an active day. Even at just 10 months old, it's clear that this guy is SO smart and very sweet - typical of both the Lab and Poodle personalities. Some would say this breed mix is one of most loving and intelligent in the dog world. Since Kazoo is just a young guy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Kazoo will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a young dog's ultimate behavior and in his relationship/bonding with his people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free training classes. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Kazoo out to a home that doesn't choose to offer him this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area. We're open to Kazoo finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart Doodle. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a great choice for a dog that would love nothing more than getting loved up periodically throughout the day. Kazoo enjoys his relationships with all humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place him in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create a dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can also be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Kazoo will be up to date on his vetting / vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. He has also been neutered to support zero population growth in the canine community.
