Bear is a genuinely good boy who is going to make a wonderful companion! He has hit that sweet spot between puppy energy and settling into a calmer routine. He still loves to play, though he’s also happy to spend much of the day snoozing. Bear has a great balance of independence and cuddliness. He’s perfectly content hanging out in his own space, yet he’ll happily seek you out for some attention and couch snuggles. His favorite activities include exploring the yard, sniffing around outside, playing fetch with a ball, and enjoying a good game of tug-of-war. Bear is a smart, shy guy who needs a little time and patience to feel comfortable in a new home. He’s looking for a mature, understanding household without young children, where his boundaries will be respected and he can settle in at his own pace. Bear hasn’t lived with dogs or cats and may feel uncomfortable when meeting unfamiliar dogs, so slow, proper introductions are important. The good news? Bear is housebroken, crate-trained, and knows some tricks! Be sure to ask him which ones he knows. If you’re looking for a sweet companion who enjoys both playtime and cozy afternoons, Bear could be your guy!I’m currently in a loving foster home offsite! Please allow up to 24 hours for my foster parent to respond.Inquiries are answered in the order received, and the foster parent will let you know your place in line if there are other interested adopters. A meet-and-greet is required before adoption. Adopters should be available to meet within 48 hours of inquiring; otherwise, preference may be given to the next person in line who can meet sooner. For everyone’s safety, current pets are not able to meet the foster animal before adoption. After the meet-and-greet, you will have 24 hours to visit the HSPPR Adoptions Lobby (11:00am–4:30pm) to complete paperwork and finalize the adoption.

“Give me time, give me treats, and I’ll give you my whole heart.” Hi, I’m Iris! I’m a sweet girl with a whole lot of love to give. Once I know you and feel comfortable, I’ll trust you with all my heart. My favorite place to be is right beside my people, whether we’re snuggling on the couch or heading out on an adventure together. I can be a little nervous when meeting new people, so I need someone who is willing to let me take things at my own pace. If I feel overwhelmed or pushed past my comfort zone, I may bark or lunge. But with patience, consistency, and positive experiences, I can learn that new people aren’t so scary. And if you really want to become my best friend? Bring treats! Food is definitely the way to my heart. General Socialization Notes: I’m crate trained and obedience trained, and I know lots of cues! I can sit, down, recall, place, stay, and heel. I am also good for grooming, I’ll jump right into the bath, and I’ll stand on the table for blow drying and a haircut. My previous owner also taught me to turn on cue so she can get my other side while I’m being groomed! I’m generally a good girl on leash, although I can occasionally get excited and pull. I’m looking for someone who will continue helping me build confidence and feel more comfortable around new people. Does Iris like other animals? I do well with other dogs, but I’ll need slow, thoughtful introductions so everyone can make sure we’re a good match. I would do best with dogs around my size or larger, or I’d be perfectly happy being your one-and-only pet. Does Iris like children? When it comes to children, I’d do best with older children who understand how to respect my space and give me time to feel comfortable. Children 12 years and older may be best. Favorite Toys: My favorite toys are soft, fluffy toys, but my absolute favorite is my sheepskin tug toy. I love tugging, and I’m pretty proud to say I can even fetch it and drop it! Ideal Forever Home: I would feel best in a home that understands that I need time to feel comfortable around new people, to let me meet people at my own pace. I look forward to training! I also need a home without small children. I can live with another dog or be by myself. I can't wait to meet my new family!!
