Story
There's nothing quite like young dog sweetness and silliness, and then they put their beautiful heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath. These gorgeous pups are so pure and vulnerable with their whole lives lying in front of them, that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and alone on the streets or in a high-kill shelter scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space.
Kazoo is a cute as can be 10 month old, 46 lb Labradoodle (Labrador Retriever / Poodle mix) who is just waiting to be the love of a special family's life. Farfel's can't swear to the accuracy of this breed identification as no DNA test was done. This was the opinion of Texas veterinarians and we're going to go with their educated guess.
Kazoo is starting out with great energy. While initially just a bit shy, this sweet guy is blossoming as he learns about living in a safe and nurturing environment with love and kindness . Now at 10 months old, Kazoos self esteem is getting better every day as he learns that he's a very valuable guy that has so much to offer a dog-loving family.

Meet Kazoo, a gentle soul who is simply waiting for someone to show him what it feels like to be loved and respected. ❤️🐾 He is great with other dogs, absolutely loves people who are kind, walks beautifully on a leash, and remains calm and well-mannered in virtually every situation. We don't know much about Kazoo's past but what we do know is that this guy is absolutely irresistible! Whatever his story may be, Kazoo deserves so much more than just surviving at a high-kill shelter. He deserves a warm bed, a loving, respectful family, and the comfort of finally belonging somewhere and with someone. We want to give our wonderful Kazoo the family he has hoped for his entire life. Please help us make his happily ever after a reality!
Kazoo's coat is currently a bit shelter-sad. This gorgeous guy's forever family will need to make a lifelong commitment to periodic baths / brushing and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are perfect lifelong protocols for general longevity and coat care) to keep his hair super-healthy, shining and cottony soft.
Kazoo, with his gorgeous coat (and the cutest chocolate brown markings ever) will require a lifelong commitment to periodic sudsy baths and excellent nutrition to keep his hair super-healthy and cottony-soft. There has been extensive new research that a human-grade, natural diet will provide a healthier (far fewer vet visits) and longer life for our best friends. Farfel's recommends Chi Diet (chidog.com) due to our personal experience with the health of our own dogs. We wish the same for every dog we rescue.
Kazoo is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's also so loving and cuddly once comfortable in his environment. This snuggly guy would be very excited to be a couch potato and snuggle with his favorite people at the end of an active day. Even at just 10 months old, it's clear that this guy is SO smart and very sweet - typical of both the Lab and Poodle personalities. Some would say this breed mix is one of most loving and intelligent in the dog world.
Since Kazoo is just a young guy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Kazoo will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a young dog's ultimate behavior and in his relationship/bonding with his people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior.
Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free training classes. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Kazoo out to a home that doesn't choose to offer him this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area.
We're open to Kazoo finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart Doodle. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a great choice for a dog that would love nothing more than getting loved up periodically throughout the day.
Kazoo enjoys his relationships with all humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place him in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create a dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can also be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development.
Kazoo will be up to date on his vetting / vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. He has also been neutered to support zero population growth in the canine community.
