He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. We first took Geneva in as a foster in July 2023 when she was 7-years-old and loved her sweet demeanor so much that we adopted her the following month. At the time we adopted her, Geneva was hugely overweight and suffering from an unmedicated thyroid problem. We succeeded in getting Geneva back on her medication and down to a healthy weight (~55lbs), true to her breed standard. Her thyroid condition is easily managed with an inexpensive, twice-daily pill. Geneva is adaptable, trusting, sharp as anything, and loves adventures - especially car rides, park romps, trips to PetSmart to ogle the guinea pigs, and endless hikes. Despite her seemingly sedentary nature inside, she would always prefer to be outside (with company). Geneva would be best placed in a home without small children (older children and teens OK) and without other pets, although we have observed her bonding with some smaller dogs.
