I'm shy at first but will warm up quickly if you give me some yummy chicken. Cars and new sounds can be a little scary for me too, so I'll need someone to help introduce me to new things and show me all the great things in life! My favorite thing to do is play soccer - kick the ball for me and watch me (and my ears) bounce with excitement! I also love sniffing and exploring the trails here at FOHA. Now that she’s experiencing comfort and freedom for the first time, she is absolutely thriving. Missy is exuberant, joyful, and full of energy—which makes perfect sense for a young hound who’s never really had the opportunity to run, explore, and just be a dog. We first took Geneva in as a foster in July 2023 when she was 7-years-old and loved her sweet demeanor so much that we adopted her the following month. At the time we adopted her, Geneva was hugely overweight and suffering from an unmedicated thyroid problem. We succeeded in getting Geneva back on her medication and down to a healthy weight (~55lbs), true to her breed standard. Her thyroid condition is easily managed with an inexpensive, twice-daily pill. Geneva is adaptable, trusting, sharp as anything, and loves adventures - especially car rides, park romps, trips to PetSmart to ogle the guinea pigs, and endless hikes. Despite her seemingly sedentary nature inside, she would always prefer to be outside (with company). Geneva would be best placed in a home without small children (older children and teens OK) and without other pets, although we have observed her bonding with some smaller dogs.
